"Huh?" asked Cardamom as he suddenly heard several furious noises coming from Plasha's direction. Suddenly, the Gorebyss breached the water, landing on the sand with an angry squeal. She lifted her tail to show a slight welt on it, and he frowned as he picked her up. "Awwwww, what's the matter?" he cooed, right before an angry purple head rose out of the water, along with a pair of tentacles.[break][break]
"Ooof...did you bother someone?" he asked, bending down to take a better look at the Tentacool. "Hey there, sorry about Plasha. I'm sure she didn't mean to intrude on you." He shrugged. "I'd extend a hand to shake, but, well..." He gestured illustratively at the tips of the tentacles, before pulling a pastry out of his pocket. "Apology?" he offered.[break][break]
After a while, the Tentacool seemed to have calmed down, as had Plasha. The treats had done a wonder on the Water-type's mood, and as Cardamom watched it slowly wriggled onto land before trying to reach into his pocket. The boy chuckled, pulling out a Pokeball and placing it by his side. "You know, there's more of those back home," he said. There was a pause, and then the Tentacool reached out to touch the ball.

Cardamom gasped in awe as the Hatterene grew larger, hair practically filling their side of the arena. And that attack name...probably didn't bode well. "Shin, Charm!" he called desperately as he saw the Hatterene start winding up for the strike. Hopefully that was the right call, he thought, as the tiny bear did his best to put on that attack-lowering face of his before he was sucked into the black hole, feeling it crush down on him as he let out a squeal. Slowly, the black hole opened up again, and Shin slowly and woozily got to his feet, putting up both his claws and weakly making a "come at me" gesture.

[attr="class","woo3"]Plasha barely had time to look smug before the tank itself burst open, about to spill water everywhere-before several shimmering Barriers appeared in place, barely holding the water in. The Gorebyss was clearly straining, but luckily Cardamom could hear the sound of security arriving, and already several Psychic-types were teleporting in to handle it, finally allowing the Gorebyss to release her own barriers. She floated, exhausted, before Cardamom recalled her and turned to Alexei.[break][break]
"Wow...what a match, huh?" she said, after a long pause.

[attr="class","woo3"]"Fuckfuckfuck-" whispered Cardamom as she saw the crack. She immediately grabbed hold of the ladder leading down from the tank and started scrambling down. "Plasha! Stop!" she called.[break][break]
The Gorebyss did not listen one bit. Spurred on by her opponent's weakness, she started to intensify the Whirlpool, making it swirl around them even faster. It began picking up even more rocks and debris, each of them smacking against the glass of the tank and leaving more and more hairline cracks. Cardamom made her way down the ladder and started to scamper away from the tank, running for where the rest of her Pokeballs were being kept.

[attr="class","woo3"]The rock simply bounced off the barrier as well, continuing to not do that much damage to the Gorebyss. She snorted, letting out another Water Pulse to disorient and confuse her foe. Meanwhile, the Whirlpool raged around them, starting to grow larger and larger until it was nearing the boundaries of the tank. Cardamom started directing her own platform towards the edge, just in case.

Poor Shin was being extremely humiliated this battle. He let out a pained growl as the smell invaded his sensitive nose, quickly Slashing wildly at the Whiscash, this time more to simply push it further away from him. Half-Moon quickly turned her head away from the hypnotizing waves, but even catching a glimpse out of the corner of her eye proved to be enough, quickly sending her snoring, though she somehow remained standing even so. Ping, meanwhile, had caught on to the pattern and was exchanging another Meteor Mash with their big-fisted foe.

Oh right, she'd almost forgotten as well. She offered him a smile. "I'm Cardamom! It's nice to meet you too!" she agreed, though most of her attention was still focused on the battle itself. Half-Moon took the Egg Bomb with a grunt, growling as it singed her fur, before said fur started to spike up and shot out, sending a Pin Missile right at the dual Psychic/Grass-type. While unhurt, Shin was definitely feeling humiliated, growling and snarling even as he giggled at the tickles, until he managed to wriggle free and deliver a Feint Attack right at the fish's belly. Last, Ping floated backwards in shock at the punch, before hearing Cardamom call out "Another Meteor Mash!" and obeying, driving forwards to exchange yet another punch.

It was very weird. Cardamom had been standing on his side of the arena, about to select a Pokemon to send out, when the Quagsire had just walked past and placed a Pokeball in his hand. There was a slight click as it was apparently officially registered to him. Before he could say anything else, it waddled into place on the other side of the arena, before turning to give him a dopey smile and a thumbs-up. Not sure how to respond, Cardamom returned the gesture with a confused stare.[break][break]
Now, he supposed, all that was left was to wait for his opponent...and hope that this Quagsire knew what it was doing.

The Mud Shot somehow managed to hold together underwater before splattering over Plasha's scales, making her pause to shake herself off before returning her attention to the battle. "Keep it at Water Pulse for now!" called Cardamom. The Gorebyss seemed content to listen this time, sending another burst of watery rings towards the Swampert.

Meanwhile, the twin Whirlpools continued to swirl-or was it a single Whirlpool now?

The first Pokeball to pop open was Shin's, the Teddiursa snarling with excitement as he saw three foes. His face fell slightly when two other Pokeballs opened next to him, leaving him with an equal amount of teammates instead. "Divide and conquer!" called Cardamom. "Meteor Mash, Night Slash, Normal Slash!" Half-Moon and Shin moved first, Half-Moon's claws glowing with dark energy aimed at the Exeggcute, while Shin went to challenge the Whiscash with a more normal-aligned slash. Beeping slightly, Ping went for the last remaining opponent-the Grimmsnarl, with an extended metallic "fist."

Plasha let out another offended whistle as her own move was turned back on her, leaving both of the Pokemon stuck in swirling waters. Angrily hissing, she started swimming closer anyways, the two whirlpools beginning to touch each other and merge slightly. "Hey Plasha, be care-" called Cardamom, only to be ignored as Plasha acted on her own anyways. Snorting, she drew back and fired a Water Pulse right towards the Swampert's face.[break][break]

Though considering they were both already underwater, it was kind of hard to see.

Both Cardamom and Plasha blinked at the hurled rock. Neither of them had been expecting something like that. Plasha even let out an offended whistle that made Cardamom chuckle despite herself. "Alright, then," she said. "Let's give him something big! Whirlpool!" Water started gathering from around the tank, swirling slowly as it collected around the Swampert, trapping him in the middle. Perhaps as a little bit of revenge, a few tiny pebbles caught in the whirlpool then started plinking off his own hide.

The Gorebyss responded with simple action, circling herself into a tight-looking spring as she watched the Swampert approach, keeping much less of herself exposed to whatever move it might make next. Although the look on her face said that she couldn't wait to start actually getting physical, as it were.
