To be fair, Vic is incapable of staying still for more than ten minutes on a good day, and it hadn’t been long after they had sat at the beach that he had begun subtly but restlessly tapping his feet (yes, he was wearing sandals, are you happy now?).

He yawns. Elbows on knees, his head rests on his hand while violet eyes watch the sand in waits for the little turtle pokémon to suddenly pop out – or for anything to happen, honestly. Vic isn’t really made for waiting around.

”You think so? They did say it would be around this time.” With this, he stretches his arms up towards the sky, straightening his back.

”Man, we should’ve brought some coffee…”

Today on ’How useless can Victor Wexler be?’... Of course that fool’s Dragonite flew right into a Solar Beam.

Oh well, crash landing time!

And let me tell you, saying this was a precarious situation would have been an understatement here, considering he was riding said Dragonite.

Suddenly and unexpectedly, the beam appeared right next to them, and in a telenovela style sort of plot-twist, the Dragonite turned to protect him. What’s this? Pez actually caring for Vic’s wellbeing? Them having a bond that went beyond the dragon’s self-preservation instincts? Could this be…✨ the power of friendship✨

And it worked… until Vic found himself falling instead of flying because the dragon had fainted.

He screamed. Yet, something stopped his fall (or rather slowed him down) by pulling him up by his shirt. ”GLIGAR?! What are you doing here?... Is Aaron okay?!” He should have probably been more concerned with the fact that the little flying scorpion definitely couldn’t keep pulling up his weight, but that’s Vic for you! Thankfully, his Dragapult was still nearby, unharmed, and ready to swoop in beneath him to catch him midair… Oh, the wonders of a NO-DE raid.

Once safely on Dragapult’s back, he was able to take a breath and call his fallen Dragonite back, but when looking at his surroundings in search of aaron faust (Since he was probably nearby, right? Considering Gligar and all?) all he saw was the rampaging Groudon and Arceus-knows-how-many pokémon attacking the Precipice Blades.

”Oh shit! We gotta help!”

Now that they were near the ground, he could safely call his Samurott and Dragalge to help, telling them each to aim a HYDRO PUMP at the blades. Dragapult did his part too, his Dreepy charging towards them with a signature DRAGON DARTS (because ain’t no way in hell we’re going to attack those things close-range, no sir).

It’s nice to hear Flynn laugh. Vic has missed it... He doesn’t laugh nearly as often anymore.

These days it’s not often that Vic is eager to battle. He has even avoided it as much as possible, and he has promised himself not to fall in the same old habits that come when he starts to focus too much on battles, gyms, and badges.

But, this is Flynn, and for Flynn he can set all that aside. If only for the sake of having fun together.

Vic watches him, violet eyes meeting those of teal, paying attention to every single movement. And still, when his cheek is poked… he blushes.

Without looking away, surprise overtakes his expression, Vic being unsure of what to say or what to do for about exactly two silent seconds.

”HUH?!” The silence ends then, and laugher comes in its place. ”Stoooooop.”

He stands, and he turns to look at Flynn, grinning. ”Come on, get up.”

”Hey! No! Come on!” When Flynn ruffles his hair, he can’t help but laugh. A joyful and melodic sound that somehow so closely resembles the way he used to laugh back when he was a teenager. There’s something different about it though, there’s something missing, even if it’s hard to tell exactly what. Maybe it’s just the result of the damage caused by time.

”Ha. Of course she was!” Vic grins, and for a mere second, it’s as if they’re teenagers once more, but that second passes all too soon.

Has he been going ham? Not in his own eyes. Maybe Flynn’s the one who needs to have a little more fun…

The part of Vic that desperately wishes to make the people he loves happy and proud shivers at his friend’s tone, violet eyes fixing on him for a moment before a response is given to his question: ”...Why? What do you mean?”

He smiles. He smiles with that smile that says everything is fine; the one that has been so well practiced overtime. The one that often hides so much.

A sight as beautiful as Vic’s Kingdra swiftly swimming through the water, its crimson gaze fixing on the Barraskewda. This damn fish thought it was so cool, huh? Well, Kingdra was about to serve himself some fish fillet, because Fernando’s precious Galarian fish was paralyzed, and the water dragon wasn’t about to let the chance go to waste.

”Ha! It was, though it’s kind of crazy when you play with pokémon in the teams. I think in one of my matches I just barely avoided a Hyper Beam.” He laughs, but is that even funny? Maybe not to everyone, but Vic has always had a penchant for doing dangerous things, along with an almost non-existent sense of self-preservation. Overall, a fun combination!

”Oh. I think I’ve heard of her! That’s really cool! Was she nice?”

He considers Flynn’s question, and he looks down at the can in his hand. ”I… Uhh… I think I met the guy who owns Charja-cola? He gave me a signed case of it after my Dragonite beat up Tapu Bulu while it was sleeping. He was a pretty cool guy!” He says this casually. He probably shouldn’t be saying this casually.
