Nougat wasn’t usually a ‘one track mind’ kind of pokémon. He loved battles and all, but this was not a battle, was it? (Well, technically it was, but you know) This was a game. And like any good dog would, when playing games of this sort, he was really damn great at doing what he was supposed to do.

His sight was fixed on the Dragapult, running towards him and only stopping once he had passed the baton. Then, he happily barked, wagging his big and fluffy tail as if waving the dragon off.

He was ignored.
[break][break]
Dragapult was fast, and using PHANTOM FORCE to teleport forward, it would probably make quick work of his role in this race.

That’s way too cute. Vic sure can vibe with it though, and it’s definitely terms that can be easily understood by his silly Golden Retriever brain. He likes this kid! He seems nice!

They better use some pokémon though, because Azul ain’t risking it this time.

Or maybe not, since apparently the Barraskewda is able to move just fine for now. Damn you, paralysis! Useless!

Over the surface, rain continues to fall, and this sure has an effect on the power of the Barraskewda’s LIQUIDATION. It may have only tickled the Kingdra otherwise, but now it’s powerful enough to annoy him, and the Dragon Pokémon is quick to retaliate:

His body is suddenly surrounded in light, quite literally glowing, and in a matter of seconds, this light expands over the arena in the form of a DRAGON PULSE.

Now all the pokémon here would suffer because of Fernando’s fish. Too bad.

Damn, Eris, way too sprinkle in some sad backstory. Now Vic feels bad.

Obviously, as one can expect, athletic, overly friendly, and conventionally attractive as Vic has always been (although the pink hair isn’t all that conventional, is it?), back when he was in school he was always the kind of popular kid who got picked among the first for those sorts of games. Hell, he even got to do the picking! So, when hearing Eris say she never got picked for any teams when the other kids played, he feels really sad for her. ”Really? Aw, now I wish we had played soccer instead. Maybe next time!” It’s one of his favourite things in the world, after all, and he really doesn’t like the idea of a nice kid like Eris missing out on fun things like those.

But, his sadness fades as fast as it comes, because he can’t help but smile when hearing how excited the girl is to talk about rangers. ”Bungling burglar? Ha! Not sure how Lars would feel to hear you calling him that. We had this one challenge against this stupid machine the other day… he got so pissed he ended up using Articuno’s z-move and freezing everything. It was wild!” Yes, here is Vic gossiping about Laurence Anderson with an eleven year old while they limbo dance. ”Rangers do all sorts of things though! We help pokémon, yeah, but we also help people too. It’s really fun!”

While all this goes on, Vic almost loses his balance when trying to pass under an extremely low bar, his back beginning to hurt from all the effort. The Bagon is having none of it though, and she’s done playing, so once again, she goes for the Cinccino – this time with a ZEN HEADBUTT.

”Gumball… Come on, be nice…” Vic sighs.

Those are some of his favourite kinds of sports… although he does like most sports... like the giant pink Golden Retriever he is.

So, what does Vic do when Danny asks him if he’d like to play some paintball?

Well, obviously he grins at him, with that bright and ever-cheerful grin of his. ”Oh, that sounds fun! Let’s go!”

Really, how does this guy get all this enthusiasm?

”You got any particular rules? Are we including some pokémon in this?”

Damn, Eris, you didn’t have to go that hard. Why you gotta do Vic like that? Man’s gonna need some Aloe Vera ASAP.

He laughs though, with the kind of sorta-awkward and sorta-nervous laugh of someone who had been hit too close to home by the silly words of a child. ”Ah, I guess I kind of am? Or used to be, at least! I played soccer. Have you ever played, Eris?” It’s not a lie, he played well into his university days. But, after that? Not quite. He does still jog and go to the gym though!

They keep on lowering the limbo bar, and the game is starting to get really hard – Vic having to lean back more and more each time in order to be able to cross to the other side. But, hey, that’s how limbo goes! As a silver lining: with the Cinccino now paralyzed, the Bagon is free to help him without distraction, being quick to headbutt the bar up despite the Cutieflies best efforts to hold it down.

”Assert dominance over other trainers, huh? You got some fancy words there! Nah, I’m here to have a good time, but if you really wanna know… I’m actually a ranger!”

The other Dragonite was keeping up just fine, thank you very much.

Pez didn’t think himself some mythological creature or to be somehow special among his kind. But he was a Dragonite, and he was damn proud of that. Draco? Sure, Draco was fine, he had proved himself a worthy opponent by being able to keep up with them in these skies where no one else seemed able to keep up. Pez may have been competitive, but he could acknowledge that the other Dragonite was just as worthy of the name as he himself.

Extreme Speed though? Extreme Speed was a bitch of a move.

He was having a good ol’ time flying in these catastrophic winds, and there came Draco chasing after him as fast as his wings would allow him. Pez would have countered, but there’s no such thing as a counter with a priority move, and the damage made him wince.
[break][break]
So, Pez did what Pez did best in this sort of situation, and he smacked Draco with an AQUA TAIL before flying away. If he could have smirked, he would have, because he was feeling particularly cheeky today.

It was amazing, really, seeing the Talonflame fighting until the very last second.

Pez was at his limit too, especially after causing himself to become confused, and the moment the FLARE BLITZ hit, it was unstoppable.

It sent the dragon falling back onto the sand with its devastating flames, and just like that, he fainted, the battle lost for them.

”Woah…” Honestly, Vic didn’t mind having lost. It was a good battle, one fair and where both pokémon had fought hard from the very start.

”Good match! We should… probably head for the pokémon center now. She looks like she’ll be alright though.” Vic would have known, having studied pokémon nursing as he had years ago, but anyone would be worried in that sort of situation.
