Damn, man, kids ask the weirdest questions sometimes. How is he supposed to reply to that when all the word ‘crispy’ sparks in his mind is images of delicious Rice Krispies... and now he’s hungry and thinking that ‘Krispy’ would be a great name for a pokémon in his team. Put a note on that.

”Mmm… Maybe? Maybe we’re more crunchy than crispy…” He responds as Eris finishes her turn, taking her 100% seriously here, as if this is a major concern. Maybe it’s only kids that are crispy and once you’re an adult you get crunchy with all those back pains and whatever else…

The bar is up once again, and Vic goes under it. This time, his Bagon doesn’t help. Since unbeknownst to her trainer, she plans on using ZEN HEADBUTT to slam the bar down during Eris’ next turn.

Is that even possible? No clue, but she sure will try it anyway.

As it so happens, on this day, at this beach, during this battle, fate had intervened in the lives of Vic Wexler and Stormy Silph.

It was simply meant to be.

Destiny.

Quite literally.

Even though Vic knew it was a possibility, the Dragonite could have never seen it coming even if it had known such a move existed. He was young and proud, and he stood tall when his enemy’s consciousness faded away, feeling victorious and being suddenly full of energy – ready to take down the Charizard as well.

Or, at least that’s how he felt for about 0.5 seconds.

He only got to take one step, and after that step he stumbled to the ground, falling unconscious as well.

With both Vic’s pokémon down, Stormy’s victory was announced.

He smiled brightly at her. ”Good match! That was really fun.”

The Charizard’s claws had already left their mark once and it had been pretty damn bad, but having to take the Dragon power-infused attack one more time after being hit more than once and dealing with lasting burns? That was it, she was out. Skor was resilient, but resilience could only take her so far, and the pain that came when the claws slashed was too much for even her to handle…

She fell to the ground, unconscious and unable to battle.
[break][break]
”Ah. You did well, Skor,” Vic said with a gentle smile when calling the dragon back, his gaze then fixing on the Dragonite who also wasn’t really having the easiest time. The Aegislash was in the sand, sure, but Pez had already been hit twice, and at this point, he seemed to be really starting to feel the exhaustion of the battle…

And now it was two against one.

He tried to go for the sword with a FIRE PUNCH one more, hoping that would at least mean one less opponent to deal with.

Obviously, Vic would never suspect a kid of even thinking anything malicious, so he’s totally oblivious as to her intention when the game begins. He even praises her when she clears the bar with no problem, going all ”Oh, nice work! with that idiot smile of his.

When his turn comes, he doesn’t expect it to be hard either, because athletic as he may be, the first stage of a game of limbo should be easy for anyone, right? It shouldn’t be a struggle at all, but thanks to the Cincinno, the bar keeps getting lower and lower, and he has to bend back more and more…

”Huh...What th–”

Worry not, because Gumball the Bagon is here to help, and in a masterful display of ‘use your head’, she jumps forward and uses HEADBUTT to push the bar up. That's totally what people mean when saying that, right?

How did Vic not fall out of sheer surprise? No clue, but he makes it to the other side!

Pez wasn’t the kind of pokémon who was very fond of playing or joking around, much less when under the effects of OUTRAGE.

He took things seriously, and his desire to harm the Talonflame was serious indeed – the Dragonite following after her when she fell from the skies, landing heavily onto the sand. His gaze met hers and in it, there was nothing but hatred.

Nothing Vic could say would stop him, and this the trainer knew well, being left unable to do anything but watch as the Dragonite aimed to strike the fallen bird with a heavy swing of his tail.

But the effects of the Outrage were also beginning to show, and the dragon’s body swayed lightly thanks to the increasing CONFUSION.

Man wasn’t even done flying up to the weird sun up there by the time people realized attacking it was no use and they were better off going for the angry, lava-dwelling legendary. He didn’t even get to throw an attack in there or anything! All he did was take a selfie!

At least Groudon was nearby or whatever, and it didn’t take long for them to be within striking distance, Vic nodding at the Dragapult that always flew near once he knew they were at a spot where they probably wouldn’t hit any of the other attackers. The pokémon was quick to strike with a DRAGON DARTS, while Dragonite made a HURRICANE rise.

Avoiding Solar Beam after Solar Beam, they remained in the skies… In case the ground really turned to lava or something like that.

[break]Anyway... Vic goes attack Groudon since what else is he gonna do? They avoid Solar Beams and attack from the sky in case the floor decides to go full lava or whatever. Dragapult uses Dragon Darts and Dragonite uses Hurricane but they try to strike from a distance and a spot where they won't get anyone caught up in all that... Hopefully?

”Ah, sorry about that, he… kind of has a temper.” Vic chuckled, even though that was kind of putting it mildly when his Dragonite was currently rampaging in the skies up above.

Pez let out a powerful roar, red aura glowing more and more intense as he chased after the Talonflame as if this was his only life goal. And, honestly, at the moment it may have just been – OUTRAGE burning red and blinding him from everything else.

In his eyes, there was only the Talonflame, and in his mind, there were only thoughts about harming her.

Seeing the referee carelessly downing can upon can of Charja-cola awakens in Vic the memory of his own Dragonite shotgunning one and then destroying a whole bunch of plants only for Tapu Bulu to end up hurling a tree at him. Yeah, let’s just say Vic has learned not to fuck with that stuff, and now he’s worrying that this person will be in no condition to be doing anything, much less overseeing the game, five minutes from now.

Still, he nods along with the instructions, acting as if he perfectly understood when, honestly… he’s still a little bit confused.

His attention turns to the girl though, and he smiles brightly at her. ”Hey Eris! I’m Vic, it’s nice to meet you.” He shakes her hand, although he does wonder what a child is doing out here unsupervised. Is she okay? Does she need help? She looks fine, but kids are pretty good at acting fine…

”You’re playing too? Wanna go first, then?”

For as much as the Dragonite may have thought this red chicken was silly and lame, there was no denying that the Talonflame could fly well. It masterfully rode the winds created by both Hurricanes, charging towards her opponent.

The Steel Wing hit at full force, and while clenching his teeth, the Dragonite withstood – beating his powerful wings and refusing to allow the attack to knock him back too far. It pissed him off and as a result, a red aura began to glow over every single scale in his body.

Vic recognized it even from a distance.

”Oh, Arceus…”

There was nothing he could do, OUTRAGE overtaking as the Dragonite blindly attacked the Talonflame on a rampage.

There was thunder and lightning and a heavy downpour, but the only acknowledgement the Dragonite gave these things was a scoff, continuing to fly forward towards the hoops.

Vic, on the other hand, sure did mind, and he raised an arm to protect his face from the rain, his attempt not being at all successful at that. ”Pez, be careful!” He warned his pokémon over the sound of the wind and thunder that raged around them.

But Pez had never cared for ‘careful’.

In fact, he chose to make the situation worse: beating his large wings in order to make a HURRICANE rise and using its powerful and merciless winds to push himself forward.

Draco had started it, alright? And if the other pokémon didn’t know how to navigate storm conditions, well… that wasn’t either Dragonite's problem, was it now?

”Yeah, hey! I’m Vic, nice to meet ya!” It is casually that he greets his opponent when the man shows up, offering a bright smile. Then, he watches as the other begins to set up his team, his gaze falling on each of the three pokémon that go take their positions on the race track...

Then again, maybe the man just likes showing off or something, and it’s not like Vic’s eternal optimism is at all affected by any of this..

With these words and a short laugh is that the race begins.

The second it does, the Arcanine takes off, boosting his speed with AGILITY and ignoring the presence of the other pokémon as he headed straight for where the Dragapult was.
