Andres nodded. "Oooh Ranger huh? Guess they're recruiting program is working." he said with a knowing laugh. There'd been couple of attempts at revitalizing rangers as a viable career on tv and radio, but it seemed the organization as a whole was still struggling. Then again, Hoenn rangers were probably a different breed than other regions with all the bullshit they had to deal with. [break][break]

"Eeeexactly. You sign up, we give you a key tag, boom. Instant access anytime. The help desk has regular hours though." he said tapping a sign that showed said hours. "Lavaridge is dope. Met a date up there once or twice." he said wit ha knowing nod. "You can't compete with the real thing, but you can try. The owner keeps a stock of these bath salts made from the stuff that gets left over in the hot springs out west. Smells just like 'em." Another, gimmick that the owner had included after last summer's rush to the hot springs. "I should mention, when you sign up you get a couple of free classes to try 'em out. You know, if you were interested in yoga or kickboxing."

The jogger was quick to shake the ranger's hand. "Aster huh? S'cute name." Chuchi growled. "Of course not as cute as Chuchi." he said with a laugh before she turned her attention to the ranger. She looked annoyed, ears flat and tail laying limp on the sand. But as Aster spoke, it began to wag despite herself. Flattery would get Aster everywhere with the little scamp. [break][break]

"Watch out. She'll fleece you." Andres warned, as Chuchi looked at Aster cutely, sniffing at the friendly ranger. And then- the mention of the café completely changes her mood. She let out a happy bark, taking off towards the trash bags while Andres slowly followed. "OH good, you figured out her magic word." He wrinkled his nose a little at the smells but smiled through it as he took some of the weight off the ginger.
"Lead the way." He said with absolutely zero intention of checking Aster out.

It wasn't often Andres found himself at the top tier of bars. The alcohol was never that good, and neither was the conversation. But what it lacked in variety of alcohol, and willingness to do group shots, it was overabundant in sleazy businessmen and women looking for a young boy toy to amuse them for the evening. Andres could do that for them. Everyone loved a dumb blonde, and sometimes he was tired of the chase. He liked being wooed too. Especially if the process was food, drinks, or money, or even a combination of all three. [break][break]

He laughed easily, swayed easily. He had a knack for dancing which was one of the main norms of entertainment, aside from becoming privy to Slateport's upper-class gossip. The group of women that had picked him up, toying with him for the moment as he easily flattered and joked with them were quick to spill once the second or third wine glass came around. There's a knowing whisper or two as his contact gestured over at the bar. 'Prescott' comes up, along with speculation on her business in Slateport. She'd been sighted a couple of times recently. No sign of her father, unfortunately, another woman would sigh. They're curious and so is Andres, forgetting how badly things went between them the last time. "Ladies, let me try something." he said, gossipy as ever as well. He knocked back the little bit of jack and coke left in his glass before leaving it on the table moving to the bar. [break][break]

Confident strides take him to his fr- mmm. Acquaintance. "Querida Miss Summer~!" he greeted after she did, a bright grin spreading across his face and wave. "A bar meeting once again? I'm beginning to worry for you. It's not healthy to drink alone." he said, hazel eyes darting around in search of one specific man he'd jsut barely avoided a fight with at the Soiree. "I'll stand by until the boyfriend comes. Can't have Ms. Prescott give the impression of an alcoholic." he added with a laugh as he turned to the bartended and set his glass down for a refill.

Andres' recovery is slow. His expression swapped from jaw dropped shock, to a more neutral but disappointed look. He was NOT about to argue with a tired parent and their two weeby preteens about a shoujo anime. Even if that shoujo anime was the second most life changing show he'd ever seen, second only to Tokyo Mew Mew. [break][break]

"Shut up! Do you know how rare it is to find anything from that show nowadays?" Unless he looked for the Crystal arc....but nothing beat the original to him. All he had were the pirated DVD's he'd gotten from his mom at a flea market. He loved those, cherished them really. But he'd wanted to get something that looked pretty on his shelf too. Just for him. He shoved Nagi's hand's away, though it's not strong. He's defeated, and he's irritated. [break][break]

"Were you planning on sniping anything else? You fuckin'-" His voice is low, clearly attempting to keep the disagreement between himself and his nemesis. No need to upset the employees or the little kids that'd just taken off with their treasure. He crossed his arms glaring at the novelist. As was typical when one weeb met another in verbal combat, he threw down a classic. "baaaaaaka." [break][break]

Chuchi, already a competitive fighter, sees RED when AFTER YOU hits. The Eevee didn't even hesitate moving before Andres can give her a command. She launched herself at the Buneary, unhinging her jaw for a BITE attack, aiming for the ears. The glint in her eyes indicated she was absolutely about to rag doll the bunny if given the chance.

"EASY. MISTAKE." Andres said through gritted teeth, his grin menacing despite the friendly act he was still painting. "Because. The. Shelf. One. Is. Mine." He reiterated. Despite his height, he hunched over so he could glare Nagi in the eyes, hands tightening as he added pressure to the little nerd in front of him. His love for Sakura Kinomoto would get him through this, and not geeky glasses kid ( pot calling the kettle black ) was going to get in the way of that.

As he squares up with the shorter trainer, inches away from headbutting a guy with glasses, he heard the very loud squealing of a young child as they burst into the little shop, and sprinted through it, dragging their poor parent all the way. Andres' wouldn't have cared if it weren't for the burst of speed that went past him. "No-" he murmured, barely audible as he broke eye contact with Nagi and turned to look, horrified, as another young boy reached up for the vied Card Captor Sakura Collector's Box and pulled it off the shelf. Soon enough, he's joining by a small, little girl, dress in all pink who almost smacked into him. Lastly was their haggard parent, who let out a quick apology to Andres and Nagi as he went by them to collect his kids. All the while, the blonde gawked in abject horror.

Andres Buenaventura wasn't always a confident, and successful gym challenger. Before all that started, he was just a geeky, lonely kid that had moved to Galar and had the misfortunate of pissing off the same person, unknowingly, over and over and over again. [break][break]

Thorne and Andres met around the end of elementary school, fairly young and were doomed to fail from the start. Andres, not getting the hint, and Thorne underestimating Andres' persistence once given the smallest crumbs of attention. Their rivalry stems from Thorne's intense passion in battling and participating in the gym challenge itself, and Andres' lack of regard for the competition altogether. To him. placing high in the challenge had simply been a means to an end, a last ditch effort to befriend someone. He didn't anticipate making it to the tournament nor surpassing his friend on his first try. He'd found a liking to planning out pokemon teams and strategizing but it wasn't his passion. The revelation of this to Thorne, after passing him in the quarter finals sealed Andres' fate. They've been bitter rivals ever since, with Andres gradually growing to resent him despite the fear he struck within him. [break][break]

tl;dr Andres has a rival that wants to beat the ever living crud out of him. Gym battling, coordinating, or just straight up fight fights because I love me some jock v nerd bullying. This relationship is so gd messy and it's open to hate fucking in the middle of beating the ever living shit out of each other. name/face claim are not set so go nuts just make sure to be mean to him.

He’s only slightly surprised that the little four eyes pressed back into his hand. His skin turned red before settling into a stressed white. He didn’t budge though, especially when Nagi followed up Andres’ act with his own. Fine. Let’s play then. His smile only twitched at the added pressure. “It’s a pickup in store, ah…” the come back pushed steadily through a clenched grin as he held at bay Nagi’s hand, pushing back against it like a sumo wrestler trying to shove an opponent out of the ring.

“This place is great for finding stuff like this though! I’m sure if you ask the cashier they can help you order another one..” he said, glowering at the novelist behind his fake smile. He was taller, he could snag it first, but he’d rather not resort to that just yet and simply…intimidate the guy to back off.

“All the way from Kanto? What brings you to Hoenn?” he asked as pulled out a quick pamphlet to show Dominic, preparing his little gym spiel. “This gym IS dope though. It’s open 24/7, near the metro, sponsors a bunch of classes meal prepping.” He said as he pointed out a couple of boxes on his little sheet. “Got a jacuzzi to get in those quick hot baths, my personal favorite.” He added.
