Andres, despite the few days a week he spent out late with friends, was more of an early bird. Sometimes it was hard to keep him awake late at night, especially drinking. That’s where the rounds of shots came into play. He typically was an early riser, and he scheduled around it. He worked out in the morning for one, preferring waking up with an hour of exercise than waiting all day for it. He wasn’t the only one though. Chuchi, despite how obese she was, seemed to always have an overabundance of energy. He wasn’t exactly sure how old the Eevee had been when they’d first met, but judging by how she turned out, he’d assumed she’d probably been incredibly young. Even if they weren’t in the gym circuits anymore, Chuchi still loved to move and to battle almost as much as she loved to eat.

The morning routines did her good. She was far calmer, and less bratty during the day. She kept pace well enough, sometimes even speeding past Andres to derail their runs or when he stopped to do some sort of exercise on the sand. Today was just a straight run, going for a higher pace than just an easy jog circuit. Even with the sun barely rising, it was still hot. Not many people are out yet, having caught sight of one or two other runners’ father back down the beach.

Chuchi spotted aster rousseau and gave him wide berth. Andres was about to follow suit when the ginger began lamenting rather loudly about how he wished he had some help with his chores, whatever they were. Hazel eyes ran over the ranger in a quick once over, before he slowed down and waved at him. “You strugglin’?” he asked as he revealed his flashiest grin at Aster. Chuchi seemed to pout, having wanted to continue moving forward with their run. The silver Eevee slowly padded over to sit near her trainer, ears flat against her head in obvious irritation. “I got time right now. I’m Andres. This is Chuchi.”

Despite the bit of irritation the pinkette had given off during their holiday event, he’d managed to talk his way into a sort of date with the ranger, who’s name he still didn’t know. Not that it mattered that much in the long run. This was now a game, and he just wanted to win. Even if he would probably forget it a day later. [break][break]

After she’d agreed to go with him to get crepes on their break, the blonde had happily escorted her there chatting the entire way and overall trying to lighten the oppressive mood. He knew the girl couldn’t give a rat’s ass about anything BUT acquiring the crepes, but it didn’t keep him from trying. He drank his lemonade happily, eyeing a little menu stuck to the wall before back at his companion. “Well, I usually grab and go so I get light toppings. Typically, my favorite is, like, a plain creped with a ton of chocolate drizzle and peanuts sprinkled on top.” He said with a grin. “The fruit themed ones are very good though. I’ve heard the banana strawberry crepe once before. It come with a white chocolate drizzle. Condensed milk is also really good too.”

Andres had never been ashamed of his hobbies. He’d never shied away from sports or theater, and much less video games or anime. Especially not the show that started it all when he was a child. Oh no, in this house we respected Card Captor Sakura. While his absolutely favorite shoujo anime was still Tokyo Mew Mew and his Queen For All Time Was Mew Ichigo, CCS had been the one that had brought him into the world of weeb shit. And he was never leaving. It’s by chance that he’s browsing around, eyeing new collectibles that may have dropped with some anniversary or debating trying his luck with some sort of gachapon run. [break][break]

And then he saw it. A beautifully packaged, collector’s edition box set. It was big enough to house the entire anime, the movies, maybe even something special inside? No, he knew there was something special inside. He made a beeline for it, his face contorting into a possessive glare. He would have it. He’d been avoiding buying a collector’s set, waiting for the perfect one or watching it sell out before he could. But this? This is fate! This is destiny. “This is mine.” He said, voice low and hazel eyes narrowed dangerously. His lips curled into a smile, though its insincere. He intertwined his fingers with Nagi’s.

“Dibs and all that.” He added trying to relax himself, but his hand squeezed down on the other nerd’s hard. This was clearly a threat.

Andres grinned at the poor guy. He couldn't tell if he was completely serious or not, the deadpan too hard to see through. He took the pamphlet and sifted through the contents giving it a semi-serious look over. "OH sweet, can I call you anytime, papi?" Yes, this man was absolutely considering a try out for the Hoenn army at a chance to sleep with his recruiter. "With questions? Try out dates, forms I need, etc? Alternatively are you available for dinner maybe?"

This was very obviously a Business Speeddate, but Andres tended to mix business with pleasure. "Oooh, I get to work directly with you? You're not lying?" He asked leaning in a bit, a little too excited at the prospect. But whatever, anything to get anothe recruit right? "What's the Hoenn Military benefits package? I left school already and probably wont be going back."

Chuchi snorted at the question as she inhaled heart shaped sugar cookies while Andres processed. He felt like he'd heard this question before but in the end never really joined because...well he didn't feel the patriotic appeal. He'd left Unova and then hadn't even been really fond of Galar. Now Hoenn. He just sort of lived there. "Haven't really considered it, handsome." He said eyes moving to read over his name tag. "Keep talking though, maybe something will catch." He said, flashing a grin at his army recruiter.

Andres grinned, refraining from fist pumping out squealing a quick ‘yes’ in front of the lady. He played it as cool as a cucumber as she wrote down her digits while taking a moment to write out his own for her. They swapped numbers at the buzzer for the next date rang out. “Oh- text you later then. It was a pleasure to meet you, Miss Nina.” He said as he carefully folded up the woman’s phone number and tucked it away in his pants pocket. Without another word, the blonde scooped up his fat Eevee before making his way to the next table.

Andres let out a small laugh. “Oh, the best, señorita. The rhythm is in my blood after all.” He said. “Plus, my partner’s never have to worry about stepping on my feet. Got a pretty high pain tolerance when it comes to mishaps on the dance floor.” He added with a quick wink at the woman. “In any case it was a nice dream. Wanna make it a reality?” the blonde asked going in for the kill as he reached over for what looked like a heart shaped tea cookie and taking a bite out of it.

Andres feigned a bit of hurt at Nina’s response, dramatically putting a hand on his chest as Chuchi proceeded to continue chowing down on the closest desserts to her at the table. “Ay, Miss Nina! Perhaps the connection I felt wasn’t as mutual as I thought…” he sighed, though he’s quickly to recover.

Leaning over his Eevee, he grinned once more at the stranger. “I remember fondly how the dream went.” He began as if recounting the story of his life or something grander than a bs line he was making up on the spot. “We met on a rainy day. You got caught up in the storm, I lent you my jacket, you know.” He was absolutely pulling this out of an old fanfiction he’d read. “We met up again so you could give it back, and then…maybe we went dancing. For a bit~ The details get a little fuzzy after that.” He said with a wistful sigh. “You were clingy, but I liked it.” He added, the last bit more of a tease than anything else.

Andres sat down, his silver Eevee immediately jumping into his lap and giving nina larson a friendly yip before immediately turning her head to look at the sweets at the table. A chubby paw tapped the table in the direction of a specific treat, and instantly, Andres dragged it over for her. She was showing patience. He better like it.

"Que gusto, Nina. I'm Andres. This furball is Chuchi." he said with a bright smile as the normal type inhaled a pink frosted cupcake. "Though, I'm pretty sure I've seen you before haven't I?" he said frowning at the woman as he struggled to recall where before a light bulb went off. "Oh! Yes, of course! The woman of my dreams with beautiful, piercing blue eyes." he said flashing the cheekiest of grins. Once again, Andres' overconfidence more than making up for the cheesiness of the lines he used. Game came in all forms and styles.

The lines may have been bad, maybe even a little cheesy, but coming out of Andres’ mouth without a shred of shame and just overwhelming confidence, it almost doesn’t sound too bad. Almost. They were still kind of cringey, but Andres didn’t care about that. He’d grown past the fear of rejection ages ago. “Anything you like~” Andres said, his voice taking on a more breathy quality to it before he clamped his mouth shut as he felt Remi’s foot caressing him under the table.

Before he can really react, the buzzer goes off and he quietly cursed how short these dates were. As Remi turned to leave and Andres scrambled for the napkin before Chuchi accidentally swallowed it he called out to her, “I always have room for dessert!” He waited for a beat before realizing a girl like Remi Cassel wouldn’t give him a look back. Oh well, he had her number and that’s all it mattered. He took a photo of it, just in case, before folding it and setting it into his back pocket and making his way to the next date.
