"I see. So like children. Or friends, a lover perhaps?" At this point, Summer was wondering out loud, picking at his brain a bit to see what he'd answer. Because there were several things that she thought about and felt.[break][break]

Jealousy: imagining Cade Atreides off with another woman, having a happily married life, made her stomach churn. It was enough for her to leave an particularly possessive bruise on his neck as she went about her massage and kisses.[break][break]

Then, hopefulness: she wondered if he'd leave it for her to read one day. So Summer could read the secrets and life he lived before coming to Hoenn. Perhaps... a family with her, in the future. Though, that was a lot to think or ask for at the current moment, she'd figured.[break][break]

Finally, a mild wind of despair: their arrangement was only meant to be temporary, right? Summer began to wonder, how much longer did Cade want to be with her?[break][break]

Summer tried to push these feelings aside, focusing rather on touching his body and kissing any available skin she could find until she decided to reach for his lips. It was a soft, gentle kiss, tender and warm. Nothing like the animalistic ones they'd share in the depths of the night.[break][break]

Summer remembered the first night they spent as well with such fondness. One she hardly gave to others. There was a certain fondness she began to hold for Cade, after each call to spend the night with her.[break][break]

To her, it was almost frightening, how close she felt to this man she had started out seeing as a toy for her own pleasure. Especially with the amount of hardship she'd gone through ending her relationship with Casey.[break][break]

In her near-fevered mind, she was blaming the illness for these random and intrusive thoughts as he leaned closer, pressing a kiss to her cheek. Oh, but couldn't he just take her to the couch and hold onto her, make her feel like everything would be alright?[break][break]

Like nothing in the world mattered except for them, in that moment?[break][break]

"No need to compliment a scoundrel like him. But I do have impeccable taste, thank you," she spoke behind a sniffly laugh.

There was a part of her that wanted to agree. But, the majority of Summer's brain felt fried and tired already from the hike up. And they still had to go back down.[break][break]

"A stop or two won't hurt. It's a long way up, after all. This is like expert level, and you brought a beginner with you," she said with a look, pouting.[break][break]

When Mars's RIOLU made notice of the METAGROSS, Summer's ZOROARK shifted itself, preparing an attack to support Ajax.[break][break]

Summer, in the mean time, let out a small yelp as Mars grabbed her hips as swung her around, suddenly in a new spot. Her hands gripped at his shirt tightly, completely unwarned of the TELEPORT.[break][break]

Either Mars ignored her sarcasm or didn't hear it all together. Either way, after she recovered, Summer rolled her eyes behind his back, trying to keep up with him as he took off again without hesitation.[break][break]

"Mars, don't you think we could-" Her question was cut off by the clanging sound, both of them pausing in their steps.[break][break]

"METAGROSS, huh... maybe we should stop and go back..." she wondered to herself. But before she could even voice those concerns, Mars started again.[break][break]

There were definitely wheels churning in his brain. Summer could almost see them, and she was prepared to make further argument for her own sake. But, she didn't have to as he agreed.[break][break]

She spared a quick glance to Hela before following him at a quick pace. Her Pokemon took to the shadows, using her ILLUSION here and there to change to different types of Pokemon she spotted in the distance. Almost like a warning sign to her trainer and Mars.[break][break]

"Yeah... this is great— ah!" Summer barely missed the rock, several more crumbling past her feet. She looked up, puffing as she wondered how much longer they had before he'd take a break.[break][break]

For her sake, at least.

It wasn't that Summer didn't find herself unfit or unhealthy. It was quite the opposite: she found herself attractive, she ate well, and her health was amazing, except for the rare occasion that she got sick from overworking.[break][break]

However, she came to realize that as a CEO, she wasn't getting near as much walking time than when she had been under her father's command. She had been discussing this resolution with Martín del Mar, and when he invited her to join him on a hike, she accepted.[break][break]

This, however, was not what she was expecting one bit.[break][break]

"Mars... you do know that I'm not an experienced hiker, right?" Summer said warily, giving him an almost skeptical look before eyeing the path ahead of them.[break][break]

Sighing, she felt like she was in a bind, her ghostly ZOROARK standing silently behind her.[break][break]

Summer listened as Gunner admitted that he wasn't the type of person to go to events like this. Or rather, he didn't enjoy them. Introverted was definitely a word she would use for him. It fit him. She opened her mouth to tell him that she wasn't going to have her feelings her if he didn't want to go.[break][break]

But then he agreed to come. It surprised her. However, she didn't let anything betray her feelings on the surface, rather giving him a smile as she nodded.[break][break]

"If you find yourself uncomfortable, you can leave at any time. I don't want you to feel pressured to be there, after all."[break][break]

Their conversing broke to small chatter as more food came out. More wine was poured in appropriate servings — because let's admit, Summer would've just topped her glass at that point since she was savoring it so much. Her eyes flitted upward, taking in his face for a moment before smirking.[break][break]

"I enjoyed it. Thank you. However, I can't help but wonder if you'd want to do something after this?" she questioned, tilting her head to the side to add a touch of innocence to her question.

Summer didn't comment on his teeth, only laughing as her hand rested back on her drink. It lifted to her mouth, giving her a well deserved, alcoholic treat.[break][break]

"No kidding. I just wish that when everyone knows business hours are over, I would like some time away from work as well," she huffed, turning her phone on silent. Now, it was time to focus on her and her friend. Anything else could be handled at another time.[break][break]

She stuck her tongue out at his joke. Cheesy. The glass made its way back to her lips, waving down the bartender to get another drink for him.[break][break]

"I suppose so. You know, frankly, it's ending rather blandly. I'm not complaining about it because this year's been one of the shittier ones in comparison."[break][break]

Mars already knew several of the details of her life. First, losing her boyfriend in some mystery accident. The complete and utter hell that was hiding her brother from her father. Finding out said boyfriend was alive, and after a while, breaking off their engagement and losing their child. Murdering her father.[break][break]

"I know that yours is ending happier though, right? I'm guessing you and BARNABY FINCH will be ringing it in together. You two are more than welcome to come to my party, you know. However, if you want to skip, I wouldn't blame you for it either."

One would think that Summer would be able to feel his presence behind her, feel his breath as he breathed against her neck or her ear before he spoke. But she was so engulfed in making sure her affairs were in order that she didn't.[break][break]

So, when she felt him blow air by her ear as he spoke, she jumped, almost dropping her phone on the ground. Whirling around, she was ready to give someone a piece of her mind for disturbing her when she saw that dazzling smile.[break][break]

"If I didn't know you, I would've put a fist between your perfect teeth, del Mar," she warned him, though the tension eased from her as she finally gave him a smile back.[break][break]

"No, nothing of the sort. Just a last minute message to clear out. I wanted to make sure everything was handled before I took the holiday off," she said with a sip from her glass.[break][break]

Summer held it out to him for him to look over, sip, sniff, whatever he'd like to do. "The Burning Maw's special — called the Zombie. It's more of a Halloween name in my opinion, but it's good to me. Lots of rum."
