Paxton doesn't even attempt to hold back laughter after he and his horse lean over to check if Ashley is ok. Pink and blue curls flutter in the wind. "Hey, pretty boy, can you-?" he asked, pretty the Galarian Rapidash' mane gently. The horse already knew what to do, psychic power glowing in its horn as he helped Ashley back on his feet without needing Paxton to hop off. [break][break]

"Breathe. You're winded." he said watching his new friend recover. His horse huffs as the other Rapidash rushes off just out of reach of the new rider. "We haven't left yet, trainers got you a new stead if you need it." he added, smiling. Though, its clear he's heavily amused by this whole situation.

"Stay alert. The last time I was here I think I got brain washed." he said, tapping at his ears to show off one of the ear plugs already in. [break][break]

He adjust his pack pack and nods at his companion. "Very embarrassing. Also incredibly horrifying to get locked out of your own motor skills." he said as he led his companion- friend through the rift into the MECHANICAL KINGDOM. [break][break]

Last time he'd been there with luciano fisk and last time he'd nearly gotten him hurt. Luciano, of course, didn't want to return and Paxton hadn't wanted to bring him. They came to an agreement on that at least. But he was still curious. He wanted to see the Magearna again, even if they were hostile. The myth he was familiar with spoke of a sentient one. [break][break]

And Melody Miro had mentioned a sentient Volcanion somewhere on Hoenn. This had to be where it was from right? The only question was- how had the Volcanion gotten to Hoenn? Or had its appearance been foreshadowing for the weakness in their fabric of reality? [break][break]

He trudges forward, the scenery changing into the more mechanized landscape as their made their way towards the castle in the distance, this time avoiding going into the city proper and navigating around it.

When PENELOPE LIVY informed him that dahlia goode would have him, as well as Gunner Graves , and Navy working security around the next AQUA meeting he'd set to work almost immediatly. Working with the League's building security, conferring with Gunner, and having meetings with him and Navy, they'd prepped to prevent whatever possible omen the RVL routes had foretold. One the comms, quiet updates come through. Many are simple check ins that he lsitened to passively as he watched people enter the chamber. He does his last sweep of the inside of Callan Young 's E4 room before pausing and replying to his friend. "Final checks of the inside over with. Cameras all in working order outside?" he sent back. Floating behind him, dutifully, is Joules his shiny Magnezone who beeps periodically as they looked above for any discrepancies. [break][break]

He takes a moment to congratulate ollie morales , after stopping to nod at PENELOPE LIVY and illeana reyes . "Congrats on your promotion, Head Ranger Morales. Look forward to working with you." he said, offering a polite smile before the comms in his ear light up. He excuses himself, as he speaks to his comrades waiting outside. "Clearing out, the Commissioner is on her way." he said, as he gestured for his partner to zip out of the doors. He finds his way around to Gunner, sharing a quick note before moving off to take his own position around the perimeter.

Paxton nodded slowly. He doesn't rush to defend himself or overexplain. But he can feel the chill from Luci's gaze and even though he's holding his wrist, he feels far away. There's something growing between them, even if Luci doesn't voice is directly. [break][break]

The bartender sets the drink he'd ordered down, quiet and quick to avoid whatever tense moment they were witnessing. The expression change isn't subtle. It almost felt pointed. A huge disappointment. But why? [break][break]

And then the small warmth Luci's hand offered was gone, but despite the tight grip of it all, he missed it immediately. It gets worse. In an instant, ice pierced his heart. He stops breathing. Luci is glaring at him and he's perfectly still. [break][break]

"What?"

That's all he can come up with when Luci gets up. Paxton watches his back for a moment before scrambling to actions. [break][break]

"Wait-!"

But the sculptor is already gone. And for a nauseating few seconds he can't find his wallet. He doesn't wait for the bartender, slamming down whatever small bills of cash he had in his wallet before beginning to run after his date. But not before stopping at the door and rushing back to take his precious bouquet with him. [break][break]

The restaurant doors slam open as he surveys the street for the man. He could catch up. If Luci didn't run or hail a cab, he could find him. And he knows that periwinkle hair anywhere. [break][break]

"Luci- Luci wait a second!"

He needs to catch him. He needs clarification. He doesn't get it. Lying? Maybe he should've told him but hardly a lie to respond to the name he used to go by, right? He shakes, nervous as he tries to find him. The usual calm he could muster up on the battlefield gone and broken. Because he's not very Paxton like at all right now. [break][break]

This? These nerves? This panic? This growing urge of responsibility and need to please? That's Concord. Obsessive. Unrestrained. Obvious. He's different. Clawing at the walls of Paxton's subconscious in times of crisis like this- No. Not crisis. He'd lived through crisis. [break][break]

The sliver of Concord left in him is reacting to the only reason it was still around: Luciano, and his unrequited love for him.

Before he can pocket his ID, he felt a small warmth on his wrist hiding strength he hadn't expected Luci to be capable of using. He stops of course, looking up at his date un sure of why they'd stopped him. "Yes?" He asked, acknowledging the moment- the tension rather. [break][break]

It's now that Paxton realizes the mood has intrinsically shifted. Not radically, but there's discomfort. He knew enough to know Luci was upset. Concern flashes before he blinked incredulously at him. He almost laughed, but clamped his mouth shut before he could, lest he make Luci think he's laughing at him. "I'm not. That's my legal name now." [break][break]

He doesn't pull away, just waits to be let go. He's not quite sure why this would matter to Luci, but then again, he doesn't remember if he'd ever told Luci what he goes by now. He'd just assumed Luci knew, and had chosen to call him Concord instead. [break][break]

"I've been going by Paxton for a few years now."

They approach a large Kantonian staged storefront. Lanterns and twinkling lights decorating the front of the store. Outside there's statues reminiscent of something you'd find in Lavender Town. The smells that waft out of the restaurant are strong and hearty. There's a soft roar of voices that filters out when Paxton opens the door for his date. [break][break]

"Reservation for 2 at 8, for Concordas." he said to the host. Their table would be available in a few minutes. Until then, they're sat at the bar to order drinks. The bartender moves in to take their orders.[break][break]

"Rum and coke please." he said before the woman asks him for his ID. Which he offers up while resting the bouquet in the stool next to him. [break][break]

"I just wanted to take you out. I felt really guilty having to canceled so last minute." [break][break]

Paxton, nods, keeping one or two steps behind Luci and herding the group back out. The commotion seems to have grasped the attention of something nearby, and the sounds of stomping, slow and creaky echoed in the ruins. Connie takes the lead and Joules stands back with their trainer to cover them. [break][break]

"I- I don't know!" Paxton's brain is firing all cylinders except every cylinder is a different thought and its not reaching his mouth. He can't articulate all his thoughts well, but one stands out. Get them out of there. [break][break]

So he keeps running, Joules and Connie shouting to each other and relaying updates. They don't stop until they cross the rift. Paxton is panting, his hand on Luci. "I'm sorry. I'm so- so sorry." he eyes on Luci, wide, panicked. "I- I'm sorry...I-I'll take you home." Paxton's still stiff, muscles tired from being locked in that weird state. He's trembling, mouth dry, and fear and adrenaline still shooting through him. But he leads the group away, forcing his hand to unlatch from Luci's forearm and sliding down to carefully take his hand. [break][break]

"I can take them off later, but I think they add to the costume." he said as Luke played with one of his bells. "I kinda like 'em."
he added even as he's being teased. As they take his hand, he coyly covers his mouth with his other hand. "Well, at least it sounds like you'll be a gentleman about it."

"Mmm, I can make it work. I'll hold the stands down for you." Paxton's not exactly what you think about when you say 'cheerleader', but he could get pretty loud when he wanted to. He takes another swig of his beer, looking to see if he could catch sight of Luke's competition near the jousting field before back at him.

"Sizing up the competition?" he teased before licking the foam off his lip and answering more honestly. "I've done well enough, I think. Pissed off some coworkers when I blocked them as soon as I found them, though." he snorted. "I'd rather not be bothered off work hours for work."

Paxton nodded in turn with Raphael, taking another sip of his drink. His eyes follow the sucker for a moment before he looks at the rest of his date. He's a bit more rugged than he was used to. Or maybe, he just noticed it because Paxton was so clean cut all the time. Not anal but facial hair didn't suit him- all orange wire and patchy. And if he wasn't careful he'd turn into a Corphish in the sun.

But Raphael's skin is dark and sun-baked. He has scruff that doesn't make him look like a struggling tween. And he strong. He had to be, judging by the big shoulders and the calloused hands. But he's relaxed too, and Paxton is happy he doesn't have to try to keep up with erratic conversation. Raph struck him as the type of guy that you could actually sit in silence with for an hour and be content with.

He smiles into his drink. "Pink. Easier to hide under my clothes." Paxton explained. He snorts, tugging his shirt down but it doesn't reveal much other than how toned his pecs were. "Kanto, Before the fall. So we're both outsiders here? Glad I found kin." he said. "You miss it? Or do you prefer it here?"

He tilted his head towards his colleague, reacting when he hears him test out his name. He appreciated the respect to title, but its just the two of them now. As the Steelix and ranger begin to glow, Paxton takes a few steps back from the action while Streenstrup takes a breath between HYDRO PUMPS.

Paxton meanwhile observes the Mega Steelix, quietly mesmerized by the floating, iridescent crystals before she set to work. But she's more than just beautiful. A surge of power comes along with precious seconds to spare. As the Wailord behind sliding softly back into the water, dripping from the previous water attacks. Powerful tails raise weakly to help slide into the water. The shore rises as the massive pokemon reenter the sea. Debris gunked up at the bottom begins to sift and rise to the top and lap at the beach.

As the massive pokemon wait their turn, his Octillery crawls down the line, spraying what was probably the equivalent of a cooling mist on the rest of the waiting whales. Meanwhile, Paxton turned to his companion, holding back a snort. "They've excused me." he stated. "Or, well, they understood I wouldn't come in if my home was under threat of flooding."

"I've got nothing next but lunch if you'd like to join me. I didn't know how bad it'd be to I canceled everything." he sweetens the pot, still a little awkward about the whole Amigo mishap. "I'll treat you. You can think of it as an apology." He digs up at the sand, revealing a pink spiral shell with the toe of his oxfords.

"I-..." he's thinking carefully, treading slowly as he sighs through his nose. His eyes move from Calchiu to Fox again. "I'm sorry." He opened his mouth again to add but everything sounds like an excuse, so he shuts up instead.
