intuition tells him one thing, and that every part of the story should be connected one way or another. there's no way they were going to introduce another element so late to the game.

this is where the automaton's message comes into play, he tells himself.

it doesn't matter if the being doesn't recognize him, but a voice of someone that cares about them should give it a reaction. whether that was positive or negative was something that future kyle can handle later.

"play the last message," he instructs the voice-activated systems.

"Please, Eros. I know her time sooner than expectedededededed."

"But consuming the stars won't bring her baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-"

confidence about his decision crumbles when he realizes that a sequel was a possibility and the narration can equally support a cliffhanger for the next book by bringing another element into play.

getting into an electronic was one thing. having it perform the right actions was another.

that's why verdanturf college has employed the likes of rotoms to take over and have them automatize the process. using a program to counter another program was counter-intuitive after all.

a rotom sits nicely on one of the computers. training has been provided, and certain points were to be observed by the pokemon on the job. with the rotom inhabiting the computer and effectively controlling it, actions were done more efficiently.

there was a difference with using an electronic as a medium to do a task and having it be a bodily function. the rotom shows the staggering success of having it done naturally.

the dust has already settled for the coldest part of the region, but a disturbance stirs it back to relevancy.

entei stands amid the cold, flames naturally melting the frost on the ground while the remnants of kyurem's onslaught remains frozen solid. even the residual heat from both the incinerating sun and electrifying terrain mark nothing but a destabilization of the norm.

the volcano pokemon follows the trail until it reaches the giant chasm. it was where everything originates, and it will be an inevitability that consumes the region.

entei lowers its head, entering the area.

a messenger without its avatar was nothing but a bystander of a war.

it traverses through the land of imagination manifest-- an area of paradoxical conclusions where the embodiment of the passion of magma chooses a person who does not represent such values and ultimately finding him the best candidate.

intense emotions might die out, but dreams carry out its will from its ashes.

they said so little, but so much at the same time.

kyle starts to think about the words left for them before matias' hand touches his shoulder.

"you guys can go ahead," he offers them. "i think i'll stay for a bit to think of what to write for a report."

it was a rare offer to take up work, but it beats the manual labor of transferring an injured pokemon to another location.

the words left by their counterparts, as well as the member of the drk triad, ring once more in his head. his heart beats faster, though it wasn't out of fear. a temptation to grasp his chest bubbles up, drowned by a practiced appearance of being collected.

their disappearance leaves behind nothing of substance, but the scene of the crime grounds kyle and calms the excitement down to clear his head for the upcoming paperwork.

ultra deep sea and the resurfaced island were just a few examples.

"it takes time to build rapport with someone like terrakion, so i figured it's best to start doing that before rocket does something drastic."

he was chosen, but kyle had always felt that terrakion had wasted his choice on him. someone straightforward and candid like the cavern pokemon shouldn't be forced to be working behind the scenes, like what the champion had preferred.

besides, someone who bends the rules for his own gain doesn't seem fit to be called a sword of justice, but kyle had pushed compatibility issues aside for practicality. terrakion probably had the same in mind.

"he's pretty proud, so i need someone equally stubborn to match it. you're up for it, right?"

he hides his face with his hand as the simple question turned to a slew of compliments, lips crooked awry as he attempts to smile through embarrassment of being on the receiving end.

"i'm sure others would have made the same decision too if they had a chance."

kyle was just at the right place at the right time. when they say those that catch a glimpse of ho-oh becomes blessed with luck, superstition starts to get more impressive when its avatar becomes open to opportunities that weren't available to people.

still, had smeargle trainers been in the front lines, he was certain they would have been the same reason arceus openly displayed its authority.

"and that's like you saying i'm a paradox. that's a buzz word flying around lately by the way, if you weren't aware."

he lets the automaton's perception of its surroundings fail, standing by its side as its' lights dimmed with the stars of the story.

he turns to a panel, assuming it's an interface for a sci-fi ship that takes voice commands.

"run a scan and check if creating a backup is possible," he orders the system. "if not, well, a recording of the final message is fine."

he remembers each word, taking it as ammo for their final destination.

if the ship does act similar to the pokemon it is modeled after, necrozma's influence on his solgaleo is to become an inspiration for its light-related capabilities. this is fiction, and even if the source material couldn't do it, artistic freedom can be used to stretch a simple relationship to an actual reality in a make-believe world.

"let's meet up with eros afterwards."

he smiles at the implication that most of matias' failures are intended to be failures, though he doesn't verbally word them out. instead, a teasing smile remains on his expression that hints matias of his inner thoughts.

"if we don't end up going all the way, at least i have plan b."

it was solgaleo, as always, though it doesn't mean there was no plans c or d.

he takes his hand and goes on the celesteela, nestling his smeargle between them. the pokemon probably has no applicable moves left under its repertoire, but it still activates the sygna suit on hand.

kyle waits for matias to get the celesteela ready for launch.

if he isn't, then he can live the life he has always wanted on the other side of the border. if he does, he might have to fulfill roles that needed to be filled.

kyle remains pensive on the topic, vague as he can be on how he makes his decisions.

"you have always looked up to me. i don't really know why." kyle exhales as he prepares to ask his question. "do you think i fit in this era?"

hoenn was filled with turmoil, chaos and strife. does kyle, who had lived his childhood minding his own business and prefers being left on his lonesome, fit in this world?
