Shaymin are absolutely adorable, that much Ceri will never deny. The best part of all? In their Land Form, the fur on their backs is basically like grass, and that means that unlike so many fluffy pokémon, these ones never seem to awaken her awful allergies.

All in all, it looks like it might be a good session.

”Cute name. He weighs less than half of what yours does.” She teases Bee with a grin, and the Shaymin seems particularly proud of this. He holds his head up high, and tentatively, Ceri scratches his chin. As a result, Oberon thumps one of his back feet.

It’s then that the small pokémon’s attention turns to Bee once more, and after sniffing the treat, it’s gently that he takes it with his adorable little paws. He gives the daintiest of bites, looking up at the executive, and while he’s preoccupied with all of that, Ceri takes the chance to start the process of collecting samples.

At least Oberon doesn’t seem to mind needles, being too preoccupied with carefully eating. He doesn't rush and the only mess he makes is when he picks out some chunks from the cubes and throws them on the table, not seeming to like those parts for some reason. Picky, of course.

Despite how tense things had been for a moment there, Ceri’s smile is honest when she looks at both Gavin and Lugia alike. She had realised it during her time collecting samples for M.A.G.M.A: how important the study of shadow pokémon has become to her. Perhaps this is largely in part due to Gavin’s influence.

If Pokérus comes from another dimension, just as Ultra Beasts had, is there a connection there or are these just different cases with similar variables? Should they be particularly looking into “shadow-gene” pokémon that are infected with Pokérus? She knows they have a few samples that meet that criteria, and a mental note is made to compare them to the one just provided by Lugia.

By this point there is no surprise in Ceri’s expression when arriving at Blackstone Labs and seeing that one of her appointments for today is no other than BARNABY FINCH. Or, as Team Rocket files list him: Bee.

”Yeah! And I’m pretty sure I saw pokérus mentioned in some of the reports? Something about the portal?” Ceri shrugs, because she’s not really sure. She had not been there, after all. She hasn’t interacted with things like the Unown Report enough to understand that back then, the Unown had warned Team Rocket about what they might be bringing back to Hoenn. Too bad she doesn’t see a certain “Unown Expert” all that often.

It’s the result of Lugia’s Pokérus test that causes her to pause her theorising, or more like it, the reactions of both avatar and patron alike. Gavin does no more than tense up for a moment, but that tells her enough. It makes her a bit sad for them, honestly. Ceri knows Pokérus is harmless, so she usually feels nothing about the infected pokémon, but Lugia’s case is different, isn’t it? She’s not like most pokémon.

”I haven’t run any tests on the others yet, no… I probably should just to be safe.”

Not thankfully for either of them, Arion dislikes needles, and given that one needs to go in his damn jugular, collecting blood and tissues takes quite a long time. She almost gives up, but she knows well this may be her only chance to get blood samples from this Spectrier for M.A.G.M.A, and thus it needs to be done.

She’s not sure how many hours pass, but by the time they’re done, it’s completely dark.

”No offense but next time we’re meeting back at the lab.” She declares while taking off her gloves and discarding them in the nearest trash can. ”I’m not made for farms.”

Ceri had absolutely been recording. After all, M.A.G.M.A needs it for their research. Yes, that’s absolutely the reason and not the fact that it’s hilarious to see Bee being humiliated and outsmarted by a pokémon.

”Men.” She whispers under her breath, rolling her eyes. It’s then that she reaches into her pocket to retrieve a pink pokéball from which she releases her Crobat. The enormous bat stands by her side, and Ceri scratches behind one of his long, pointed ears. ”Aer, can you use a light HAZE? Bee looks a little confused.”

With this is said, mist begins to gently fill the air as Bee and the Spectrier finally approach, and Ceri’s attention returns to preparing all of the equipment.

”Okay, Bee! You’re doing the buccal smear this time. I’m not getting anywhere near this one’s mouth.” She announces, making sure to stand where the Spectrier can see her. The last thing she wants to do is to spook it… it’s much bigger than what she had expected, and it looks capable of causing her a hell of a lot of pain. ”You just gotta rub this cotton swab on his inner cheek. Easy, right? Oh! Wash your hands first, though.”

She smiles, and when she does, the Spectrier neighs.

It’s quietly that Ceri watches as Bee deals with the legendary equine pokémon… or more like as the Spectrier deals with Bee. After all, it quickly becomes clear that Arion is actually the one in full control of the situation, and as if in proof of that, he’s perfectly calm, enjoying his treat while the halter is placed on him…

Just as Bee is about to fasten the halter, Arion pulls abruptly with incredible strength, knowing exactly what he’s doing. He turns to face the Rocket executive, his eyes closed still, but something about the aura he emanates changes. A CONFUSE RAY. One aimed directly at BARNABY FINCH.

The Spectrier’s spine-chilling GRIM NEIGH cuts through the air, and yet, he does not move away – as if willing to cooperate now that he has shown Bee who is in charge here.
