Andrea looked like a ghost stuck in purgatory. Refusing to see anyone for several days, or even leave her room except for the occasional soul-searching trip to Meteor Falls, her only company in her self-imposed solitude had been her adopted, reptilian son.

There she sat, on top of a bed shaped like a Slaking, surrounded by Pokémon plushies, action figures and other memorabilia, sulking until the word ‘sulk’ had lost all meaning. A half-eaten cake sat at the bedside table.

“Coco?” Crooned the little red crocodile, worriedly looking up at his human mother.

“Uncle Chomper’s not coming back, Jalapeño…” The downtrodden woman muttered, staring vacantly at a wall. “Stop asking me where he is…” She hugged her legs and quietly sobbed into her knees.

“Thanks, I trained them myself!” Said the draconic cosplayer with pride, petting each of her Salamences. “They’re not as impressive as your Salamence, though. The one with all the scars. The one that fought Kyurem in the Silent Icelands. I was there, you know.”

Meatloaf huffed in jealous indignation. Whoever that other Salamence was, he was confident he could take them on. Too confident, perhaps.

“I haven’t been around HQ that much. I’m never invited to any of the important meetings.” The cosplayer explained, while Freya captured a little green wyrm. “My name’s Andrea, and these are Meatloaf and Sora.” She pointed at her two dragons.

The tree shook, nearly causing Pon to lose her balance. One might even say she was caught by surprise. She secured herself by latching onto the branch with her extensible vines.

“Blue skin and gnashing teeth? Pon hates those too!” The Oni remarked with almost as much disdain as the Ursaluna, who introduced himself as Doug.

“Nice to meet you, Friend Doug. Sorry about your yesterday partner…” The green-clad ogress frowned, intuiting Doug’s unspoken tragedy through his melancholy tone and old age. “Pon’s human partner also lost a friend recently… He was Pon’s friend too.”

At the mention of a monkey, Ogerpon once again hissed in anger. “What kind of monkey? Is it a short monkey with black fur and a blue face? Pon needs to know!”

There was no mistaking the sheer determination in her eyes. She was now an ogre on a mission. Literally.
