A very speedy Dragapult zipped past them; another memory unlocked. This time, the young woman was reminded of diving into the ethereal world with and their respective Dragapults. Sadly, the dragoness could no longer soar to the heights of Mount Coronet in her Sygna Suit. That ability had been stripped from her.

"Dragons should be free to fly to their heart's content..." She wistfully mused, before moving deeper into the cave.

Thanks to the support of two of her best friends, Andrea went from nervous to anxious. Now she couldn’t wait for the show to get started! Soon, one of the concert volunteers ushered them to the stage. “This is it… Let’s give it our best, everyone!”

Shalin’s Pokémon were not the only ones with musical talent. By rattling her shiny scales, Kokoro the Kommo-o provided the main beat of the song, while Eggplant the Toxtricity did the instrumentals by strumming the pulsating organs on his chest.

And then, before a crowd of excited fans waving their glow sticks, the young PokéManiac turned idol for a day started singing a song for the ages. A song about being the best that ever was. A song about catching them all.

“Electrode, Diglett, Nidoran, Mankey, Venusaur, Rattata, Fearow, Pidgey, Seaking, Jolteon, Dragonite, Gastly, Ponyta, Vaporeon, Poliwrath, Butterfree!”

Cringe? No. There was a deeper meaning hidden in the simplistic lyrics of this Pokérap. For one thing, it was a celebration of every species of Pokémon that existed in the world; at least 150 or more to see.

“Venomoth, Poliwag, Nidorino, Golduck, Ivysaur, Grimer, Victreebel, Moltres, Nidoking, Farfetch’d, Abra, Jigglypuff, Kingler, Rhyhorn, Clefable, Wigglytuff!”

It was also a heartfelt cry against prejudice, against division, against war. Those Pokémon were drastically different from each other, yet they were part of a united whole.

“Zubat, Primeape, Meowth, Onix, Geodude, Rapidash, Magneton, Snorlax, Gengar, Tangela, Goldeen, Spearow, Weezing, Seel, Gyarados, Slowbro!”

Humanity had inherited the world from these wonderful creatures. Surely they could do better--create a better world, one without conflict. A world where anyone could be a Pokémon Master regardless of their status.

Perhaps people could take a page from the girlygang and their unity. They, too, had their differences, but that did not stop them from being friends. It was Genny’s turn to grab the mic. Knock ‘em dead, girl!

The waters were getting increasingly tumultuous. Was Kyogre on the loose again? No, it was a creature that dwarfed even the deity of the sea. A creature to be revered and feared.

The Wooper of the lake.

Despite these perilous conditions, Andrea and Whiskers kept diving for more treasure. An adventurer feared nothing except the stagnation of a quiet and peaceful life.

"We did it! WE DID IT! YAHOOOOOO!!" Andrea howled towards the heavens, making sure even the gods themselves learned of her triumph. She had mastered the art of the Splash. Her Gyarados joined the blissful celebrations, doing a funky little Dragon Dance. As for the Mantine, it was rewarded with lots of headpats for its great performance.

That Mantine was not a one-trick pony, though. Surely it could do other cool things. Now, what surfing maneuver should they try next? Hmm, what was the one most often used by non-gambling peasants called? Something something Primarina. Yeah, that one would do.

Andrea's head burst out of the water, whipping her long, wet hair like a mermaid. Her latest haul was... a blue rock. It was actually a Clamperl in disguise, as she would later find out. For now, she placed it into the same nebulous storing space as the rest of her booty.

"This is fun! Ready to dive again, Whiskers?" The eccentric trainer beamed, and her Shiny Gyarados seemingly shared her enthusiasm, eagerly nodding its giant head.

Aww dangit, a bad miss! Was it finally time to throw the towel? No. She would never give up, never surrender. If the people running the Mossdeep Space Center had given up after the first few exploded rockets (with a lowercase r), they would have never made it to over 100 successful launches.

"Don't feel bad, Mr. Mantine, I'm sure you'll do better this time!" Andrea tried to encourage the living kite creature, as they went for another Splash, or attempted to at least.

The dragon enthusiast spied with her eye an Altaria taking care of his Swablu chicks like some kind of fluffy stay-at-home dad. That cotton candy-like plumage reminded her of 's own Altaria. What a Gym battle that had been, full of ups and downs.

Andrea's heart warmed up just a little, but she needed to move on. There were more sights to see. "Come on, Meatloaf, let's leave them alone." She said to her Salamence who lumbered behind her.

"A Salac Berry?!" Andrea curiously inspected the cactus-shaped fruit. Despite having been in the depths of the ocean for Arceus knows how long, it maintained its trademark scent that was both sweet and sour.

Staring at the Salac Berry long enough, one could almost hear a faint whisper.

Aww dangit, missed again! Why did she keep failing this? Had they given her a defective Mantine? Wait, the Mantine, that's it! If Andrea gave it some words of encouragement, surely the little guy could perform better. A little praise could got a long way, after all.

"You can do this, Mantine! I believe in you! Go Mantine, WOOOO!" The young woman hollered, steadying herself upon the Water-type's back for what she was certain would be the Splash to end all splashes. Surely, definitely, one hundred percent.

Healing from grief was a long and arduous process involving crying herself to sleep, only to wake up screaming in the middle of the night. After her fourth failed attempt to doze off, Andrea realized that she wasn’t getting anywhere with this. She needed to clear her head.

Visiting a place that reminded her so vehemently of Chomper might be seen as counterintuitive, but Meteor Falls, more than any other place in Hoenn, made the dragon maiden feel truly at home. If she could, she would move to these humid caves and live life as a hermit like . Alas, it wasn’t so simple.

Whiskers let out gargled laughter(?) in response to the second kiss, nuzzling her giant head against the shorter woman. For a Gyarados, she was surprisingly docile, though she did have her moments of draconic fury every now and then.

“I’m glad too.” Andrea nodded at Genny’s words, tucking a wet lock behind her ear. “Let’s come here again next year!” She jovially proposed, overcome by the spirit of joy and optimism she had lost in that nightmarish penitentiary.

Bleak times were coming. They did not know what the future held for any of them, but no matter what happened, the girlies would still be friends a year from now.

Another disk that could be used to teach a new move to a Pokémon. This would go straight into her storage. Andrea was about to go for another dive, but she was momentarily distracted by 's colossal Wooper.

"Wow, that Wooper is HUGE!" The PokéManiac remarked in awe. Eventually, she was able to employ her singular brain cell towards carrying out the task at hand. Back into the water she went.
