[break][break]i'm okay, the touch communicates, however weakly, as she brushes past the fire-type to go get her phone. she uses the flashlight to examine the cut across her palm, shifts her phone to her bloodied hand, and finds the ranger tag she dropped earlier. [break][break]the rest of the rangers are accounted for in furious silence.

her fingers catch on the fabric of his sleeve and tighten in the moment before she tugs. an ambush and an anger-strengthened yank give her enough advantage to pull him over the gap between his genesect and her altaria — and then she lets go. [break][break]annalise looks over the side of her dragon as mint frost slips from her hand, her name a fading, mechanical scream from behind his mask as gravity drags him back to earth. she's imagined this a hundred times and in a hundred different ways while laying on that hard cot of her prison cell.[break][break]
it's just as cathartic as she thought it would be. [break][break]and then his genesect catches him and lowers them both to the sand below. with little more than a nudge from the ranger, her altaria cuts her wings and dives down lower, narrowly avoiding the techno blast as it whips overhead.[break][break]cotton candy swoops low enough for her to drop into the shallow water bordering the sandbar, then flaps off to strike at genesect with another diving sky attack. huh, annalise puts her hand into her jacket pocket and feels for her remaining warden balls. only two left.[break][break]maybe she's being a little overzealous because she hasn't been here in a while — just like her first shopping trip after the worst of her recovery from rocket confinement, when the numbness of everything had loosened its grip on her. still, she decides to be more conservative with the remaining half of her time here. [break][break]a shiny alomomola appears, purple dorsal fin rising above the deeper water further in the swamp. annalise and gummy bear stop to watch it swim, then they both move on after a while.[break][break]

annalise, stupidly, runs out after june, ignoring the way her heart pounds against her ribs, ignoring the self-preservation that screams each time lightning strikes perilously close to them. she doesn't follow the delivery woman into the sky, but she does support her from the ground. [break][break]a flash of white light calls her quagsire out into the battle. the water-type blinks slowly, unaware of the urgency the rest of the group is feeling. [break][break]"what do you mean if we ever wanna catch it?" annalise shouts back, hands cupped over her mouth. june had been too busy salivating over regieleki, she realizes, to really listen to annalise's last experience with regieleki. "come back!"[break][break]the electric golem erects a thunder cage around the makeshift battlefield, trapping them all in. static crackles uselessly along quagsire's body as it raises a foot and stomps it down, creating a cobweb of fissures in the ground toward regieleki. an earthquake rumbles through alien soil, trailed by erupting spires of rock that seek to impale the golem.
