With his attention focused on Lulu Flint and the actions of her Shadow Porygon-Z, Zev easily spotted the familiar Lapras and its uniformed trainer as they approached Lulu at the chasm's edge. [break][break]

Caleb Harcourt looked healthier than the last time Zev had seen him, bloodied and bruised from months of torture and neglect. With his strength had returned his dogged stubbornness, evidenced by the way he refused to move aside even as Lulu tried to shoo him off. [break][break]

Before Zev could move to intervene, however, Bee (BARNABY FINCH) dropped from his Genesect to face off against his former prisoner. Satisfied that someone competent was dealing with the problem, Zev tuned back into the comms. [break][break]

Elisabeth Fiorelli's voice came through loud and clear. The Beast's gaze traveled up to watch Palkia battle with the White Kyurem, the very fabric of space tearing apart around it. [break][break]

Space that he, too, could manipulate. [break][break]

Threads of gravity shifted into his perception, bright with promise and power. "Leave Reshiram to me," he said, scanning the battlefield for a way forward. [break][break]

Only then did he spot Wo-Chien at Elisabeth's side, blighting the snowy landscape with BARREN TERRAIN. But only for a moment, before golden light from Eva Morales blasted away the ruination. [break][break]

"Alopex, Yoru," Zev said over the comms to get the attention of fern delaney and jayden cross. "Keep Rayquaza and its Avatar from engaging while we trap Reshiram." [break][break]

Flicking off his mic, he looked over at Neffatari Nzingha, just in time to watch an Iron Crown leap over her and slam into the ground. Zev seized the gravity pulling on it with his mind and crushed the Pokémon into pulp. [break][break]

"Trust me," he told her, before turning once more to face off against the towering god.

The crystals had spread to cover all the exposed skin on Zev's hands, arms, and neck. Clusters of them pockmarked his face, pockets of void against pale flesh. [break][break]

He didn't seem to notice. Instead, his blue eyes regarded the miniature Celesteela with mild curiosity before it disappeared into Nenet's Pokéball. Only after it had disappeared in a flash of red light did he answer her question. [break][break]

"We do." [break][break]

Lying to her at that moment felt pointless. She could see the effect being closer to space was having on him with her own eyes, and deduce the strengthened connection from that. [break][break]

The muted roar of a rocket's engine announced the arrival of another Celesteela, even bigger than the one on which they'd ridden. Zev beckoned for Nenet. [break][break]

"We should go. At the very least, we should get away from this area. It seems like a landing site for them," he suggested. [break][break]

He didn't care if they found their way back home or not, though eventually, they would. But for a short time, they explored the new and intriguing landscape of the moon with their Pokémon. [break][break]

And every so often, Zev glanced up to peer at the void between the stars. [break][break]

More crystals crawled up Zev's arms as he surveyed the bleak, lunar landscape. Being up in space made his soul yearn for the vast oblivion beyond the moon. He raised his gaze from the rocks and dust to ponder the dark realm where his patron dwelled. [break][break]

The urge to join Necrozma filled him with longing. But no sooner did the emotion rise in his chest did he meet a sudden emotional and mental resistance. His whole body trembled as the weight of Necrozma's will pressed against his own. [break][break]

All at once, he understood what it meant: No. Not yet. He still had work to do among the humans. [break][break]

"We wouldn't mind staying up here for a while, at least," he said, partly to his patron and partly to Nenet. [break][break]

The flitting movements of the Kartana slowly drew Zev's focus back to the present moment. It did not seem inclined to leave, even when he waved a hand to shoo it away. Instead, it floated closer, its gestures suggesting a child-like curiosity. [break][break]

With a shrug of his shoulders, the man took out an empty Pokéball and held it out to the Ultra Beast. It went inside willingly. [break][break]

"Find anything interesting?" Zev called out to Nenet, noticing at last that she was kneeling within a small crater. [break][break]

Zev shook his head. "Not with words, no." [break][break]

He had avoided providing details of the exact experience in his report. The decision had less to do with a desire to obfuscate, though, and more to do with the fact that their connection defied description in any human language. [break][break]

"It's difficult to explain accurately. Feelings and emotions are an approximate guess, I suppose. Some things are clear, but there's a lot of static." And even that was a poor analogy. [break][break]

Zev continued to concentrate, willing the dome of darkness to appear. But the more time passed without anything happening, the more impatient he grew. Like a child seeking direction from his parent, he tuned into the very psychic link Theo had asked about and poured his agitation into it. [break][break]

Necrozma's answer came back like a yawning void. Zev suddenly felt lightyears away, his consciousness suspended in empty space. He grasped the cold distance between the stars in metaphorical hands and drew it toward his body. [break][break]

Pure blackness swallowed up the SUNNY DAY, the two men, and Theo's Scream Tail. It consumed the nearest streets and the lowest floors of the nearby buildings. [break][break]

Instantly, Zev's vision switched, revealing everything within and outside the dome in crystal clarity. He wondered if Theo could see, too, or if the blindness that could afflict his enemies also affected his allies. [break][break]

"Can you see, Beckett?" the Light-Eater's chosen asked.

A text from Neffatari Nzingha did not surprise Zev in the least, but he had not expected to see the attached photo of her cradling his Shaymin in her arms. Still, he wasn't using the Mythical Pokémon for anything; if Nenet could get some benefit out of it, then she was free to keep it. [break][break]

"It's all yours," Zev texted back. [break][break]

After pocketing the capsule, Zev found his wife on the couch, reading her tablet. Settling in beside her, he wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pressed a kiss to her temple. [break][break]

It was, perhaps, a testament to Zev and Nenet's relationship that he understood her intention as soon as she mentioned having a terrible idea. His attention snapped toward the indicated Celesteela. Still running, he redirected himself toward it. [break][break]

When they were close enough, he grabbed her around the waist with one arm and leaped the rest of the way. Gravity relinquished its hold on them, allowing them to soar across the remaining distance. [break][break]

Crystals surged over Zev's body. His free hand sank claws into the Celesteela's steel hide as it shot out of the ground. Instinctively, his grip on Nenet tightened. "Hold on!" he shouted at her over the rumble of rocket engines. [break][break]

Flutter Mane and Slither Wing latched on as well. Soon, they were racing into the sky; the ground fell away and the great dome of the heavens twinkled with distant stars. [break][break]

Ahead and above them, the moon beckoned. [break][break]

Much to Zev's surprise, they landed on the moon within minutes. The Celesteela became inert, as if entering an idle state as it awaited something. He jumped to the ground and felt lighter than usual, even without manipulating gravity's pull on him. [break][break]

"We made it," he told Nenet as he released her. [break][break]

And then, against all expectations, the young Kartana from earlier peeled off his back and floated into view. It spun in the air and made an odd, mischievous noise, as if it was giggling. [break][break]

29 ride one of the aforementioned large celesteela in prompt 28 to reach the large moon in the sky. here, a large gathering of celesteela can be found, ready to launch again, perhaps to new worlds. due to supernatural means, being on this moon may cause your characters to want to stay and remain in this realm instead of going back home.

As other Team Rocket operatives chimed in over the comms, Zev kept his eye on the distant Palkia and the chasm that separated them. [break][break]

Robotic Pokémon still surged from the fissure, though the groups were smaller and more scattered. These were easily cut down by both Team Rocket's and the League's own Pokémon. [break][break]

Neffatari Nzingha's Shadow Nidoqueen returned in a fit of petulant stomping, prompting Zev to turn to his wife. His eyebrows rose into his forehead at her sudden declaration, but only for a moment. [break][break]

It was a natural decision. After all, she belonged at his side. [break][break]

"You already made your choice when you decided to come with me," he shouted back over the howling winter gale. "So consider it done." [break][break]

Unusual movement in the corner of his eye drew Zev's attention. Turning his head, he caught sight of Lulu Flint dashing for the crevasse, as if she were planning to leap across its vast distance. [break][break]

"What are you doing, Flint?" the Beast called out to her over comms.

Zev watched as Bee attempted to coax the Spectrier to his side with a carrot. How unsurprising. Of course, the horse was as much as Pokémon as any other. Even it could not resist the temptation of a snack. [break][break]

"Typical," Zev commented as the Spectrier accepted the treat from Bee's hand. [break][break]

The local man from earlier returned with other villagers, their approach slow and cautious. Yet the Spectrier did not pay them any mind, as it gently nudged Bee's hand with its nose. [break][break]

A sign of its acceptance of the admin, perhaps.

Brilliant sunlight filled the immediate area from the Scream Tail's SUNNY DAY, pushing back the gloom that hung over the ruined city like a death shroud. Zev squinted at the sudden intrusion, his eyes having grown used to the darkness. [break][break]

His first reaction was to consume the light, but that was not why Theo had ordered it made. [break][break]

Suppressing a sigh of irritation, Zev closed his eyes, trying to remember how it felt the first time he'd summoned darkness. He remembered a far-off beckoning, as if the stars themselves were calling to him. [break][break]

Standing there, he tried reaching for them with an expanded awareness, confident that was all he needed to do. "The dome of darkness first, then," he told Theo. [break][break]

In his head, Zev counted to ten. Then he opened his eyes. Nothing had changed. [break][break]

This time, he released a small, frustrated sigh. Without fail, each Avatar had expressed difficulty controlling their powers upon gaining them. Even he had unintentionally caused lights to go out before he'd practiced that ability. [break][break]

Still, he hated that he wasn't the exception to what seemed like the rule. [break][break]

The air around the Unbound Hoopa shimmered with power. From far below, Zev watched as the Pokémon disappeared into one of its golden rings, removing itself from the battlefield. He dared not breathe a sigh of relief yet, however. Kyurem still posed a tremendous threat, and the horde of mechanical Pokémon remained a frustrating obstacle. [break][break]

Zev opened his mouth to direct his Blacephalon, but before he could speak, the deafening sound of shattering glass filled the air. Whirling around, he saw an enormous form emerge from a spatial rend on the other side of the chasm. [break][break]

Though he'd never seen the Pokémon in person before, he knew it from legend and folklore. [break][break]

Palkia, God of Space. [break][break]

As Zev watched the legendary dragons clash, a dozen new questions raced through his head. Why had Palkia reappeared now, after over a year since its last sighting? Had it needed that time to recover and change forms? [break][break]

What were Team Rocket's chances in seizing it for themselves in the chaos? [break][break]

THEO BECKETT's voice chimed in over the comms, ordering a retreat. Zev quickly scanned the battlefield, analyzing the situation. With Palkia's presence introducing new complications, their organization was better off regrouping and retreating to formulate new plans. [break][break]

"You heard Underboss Beckett," the Beast said, lending his weight to Theo. "Fall back." [break][break]

Then he turned off his mic. Swapping out his Blacephalon for his Glalie, he beckoned to Neffatari Nzingha. "We're retreating. If you have Pokémon that can provide some defense on the way, use them now." [break][break]

The air around them shimmered as Glalie summoned a LIGHT SCREEN.

When Fern asked about the encounter with the shard of Necrozma, Zev fell silent for a moment, determining exactly what to share. The question was innocent enough, but he knew better than to assume innocence from other members of Team Rocket. [break][break]

Finally, he said, "I expected a bigger creature. From the reports of the Slateport blackouts and the Darkest Day, Necrozma is enormous. The one I encountered was a much smaller version of it. As it turned out, it was not the real Necrozma after all." [break][break]

He nodded as Fern spoke of their powers, though they shared very little actual information. [break][break]

"I see." [break][break]

Before long, they reached a building that did, in fact, resemble a police station. Zev slowed his walk as they approached, his senses on high alert for anything unusual or strange. [break][break]

Distantly, the tower flashed its light. Immediately, the muffled sound of stampeding feet filled the air, originating from inside the building. Something lurked within its walls. [break][break]

Multiple somethings. [break][break]

Black crystal crawled over Zev's skin, stopping along his jawline. Clusters of it pockmarked his cheeks. He turned to Fern and pointed at the police station's front door, his mouth forming the silent word: "Megalopolans."

Maki's Froslass made quick work of the defector. No one could survive such a frigid demise. Zev gave the grunt a single nod of approval before releasing his Cofagrigus. "Take the corpse," he instructed the Coffin Pokémon. [break][break]

Cofagrigus floated over to the frozen body. Her doors opened, revealing nothingness beyond. With the calmness of a Pokémon who had done this work many times, she picked up the body with all four, spectral hands and stuffed it inside her own, before sealing herself shut once more. [break][break]

To Maki, Zev said, "I'll go with my Pokémon to get rid of the evidence. In the meantime, you should head back to HQ for your debriefing." [break][break]

Recalling his Gengar and Rotom into their respective Pokéballs, he turned on his heel to walk toward the entrance to the shipyard, Cofagrigus floating in silence behind him. And then, in the blink of an eye, they were gone, whisked away by her PHANTOM FORCE.
