It's days like this that have Ashley in a rough mood. A headache, a chill up his spine, and leaves a bad taste in his mouth. Somedays, a bad attitude leads to some terrible decision making, and it only takes someone looking at him wrong to get Ashley pissed.

Of course, being in Sootopolis, and leaving the sub, he had been stopping by a now-closed candy store, only to have his gaze stolen by a set of hoodlums as he exits an alleyway. Just give me a reason. Any- and they were harrassing-

Ashley smirks. Thank you, Aki.

Thing about Ash was that he was in such a bad mood today, that he wasn't even going to stop. He quickly sprints behind one of them, not even releasing a Pokemon, choosing violence instead as he leaps upwards, and kicks one thief square in the shoulder blades with a jumping double, knocking him forward. Ash lands atop of the guy, not bothering to step off. "OI. Since you're idiots, let me make this clear-" His thumb points to his stern expression, silver eyes ready to rumble. As he pushes up his signature orange shades, anger burns within them both. "-only thing being handed over is your scraggly, basic asses on a silver platter to me."

He spits to the side, ignoring the thieves to wave to Aki, his features softening greatly. A smile now on his face as he speaks. "Hey, Aki. This will only take a minute, don't worry. These guys speak my language." He assures her, as his face turns to each of them to return that same burning scowl from before. Visceral is the venom in his mouth every vein in his clinched fist pulses. Aki would be experiencing this side of Ash for the first time.

"Who wants the second round? Castelia street rules." he taunts, grinning now. Aki got to see those big white teeth, as both hands held out in front of him, goading all of the thieves his direction.

Oh, someone's high and mighty. Of course, this Mudsbray's backside was a hero type. He scowls, the Torkoal leaping to the side as squinting eyes follow the man. He considers pulling his switchblade out to end the fight.

"Twist his leg."

Pluto doesn't bother with the Torkoal. Instead, selecting to strike the trainer himself, intent to use PSYBEAM to incapacitate Farhan. But he was deliberately attempting not to kill him.

Ashley felt the sweat on the back of his neck, but he was... grinning?

A narrow sidestep, but with the Psybeam hitting the Torkoal, Ashley makes a scoff. He doesn't need to reveal himself, or speak much. Knowing that the man here was a League, he needed to take his ass down to back up his associates.

A finger waggle, but the moment the Heat Wave comes for Pluto, the Lunatone takes it, resistance to the heat from its natural Rock type makes it slightly ineffective, before a click of Ashley's tongue.

And a switchblade at the ready in his jacket pocket.

With another attack, another PSYBEAM aimed to throw the Torkoal on its back, Ashley's silver eyes are piercing, finger gun pointed out. "Run." It's an intimidation tactic.

Thing about hanging from a Lunatone roughly 20ft or so above a foggy foothold was that it was almost difficult to find the proper way to land. But thankfully, twenty feet isn't so bad when one tucks and rolls, and for Ashley, that's exactly what goes down. He gives one word, as they reach their unsuspecting target, and he drops towards them, Pluto the Lunatone following in his wake.

A sneak attack. Ashley intended not only to land with his feet on the shadow's shoulders, but to immediately have his moon friend use PSYBEAM, so long as Ashley gave the command.

Ashley waited. If it were an ally, he could pass it off as an accident. If it's a Leaguer though... he'd just as fast click his tongue to throw the target back. No one was going to sneak up on him, Isaac, Gavin, or Tempest on his watch.

It got worse when Isaac kept explaining his past to Ash, leading the brother's face to sour at the story laid before him. It's familiar. The only difference being that Isaac left at 18, but they were similar. Isaac had a chance... no, to say Ash never had one was rude. He did, but he threw away every chance he did get.

No resources. No connection. No goal, prospects, or plan. Just surviving. It hurts a lot. Sour thoughts cloud ambition for the moment, as he turns his head towards his Rotom, Pulse. Pulse tilts the head, before attempting to play a peaceful song on low volume to lighten the mood. The phone begins to play as Isaac continues.

Too prideful to go back. Too untrained elsewhere. Camping. Traveling. Surviving. He doesn't need to guess where it leads. It leads where everyone failed by the League goes.

Death or Rocket.

A clinched fist, a hateful glance to the horizon, Ashley shows he's still the same person. "... yeah. Kindred souls in more ways than one, dude." So. Isaac hated the man who denounced him once the guy found out he wasn't Isaac's father, so he went on the run for years... the story has a happy ending. Cygne pulls him in. It doesn't fix the problem. Rocket is made to be a happy ending. It has to be. Stories like that... it was either death or Rocket.

Same for Ash. That song and dance has been sung and swung to too many times though.

It's not a full hug. But once Zephyrus pulls Isaac to a hug, Ash uses one arm, to pat his shoulder, and keep his hand there. It isn't like he wants to pull the guy away from Zehpyrus, quite the contrary. He stares with a gloomy sulken glazed exprsesion, yet a bittersweet smile on his face that does not match the face.

"Hey. If you're someone who believes in hell and all that, well. You and I are both going to go there. I've killed too many to sleep comfortably at night, let alone think I'm going to any kind of better place. Don't care. Not gonna waste away till I get there."

"We climb the ladder. We try to keep our souls intact. We try to win. If we falter, we pick each other up. You don't lose yours if I don't lose mine. Capiche?" He makes the declaration, Pulse making a gentle vibing song behind them. Lo-Fi. It was like having a personal music-playing AI to help with the calm mood. And it lightened Ash up profusely, as he smiles at Isaac.

"We got people to keep the heart for."

With Sanford giving the world's grossest slam of a Phantom Force, driving the Misdreavus to the floor and into the sweest throws of unconscious dreams, Sunny would hop back on his feet, battered, bruised, but not beaten, as he quickly hops up and down. Bloody, sure. But this rabbit had a few more tricks.

The real show is with Kurze and Bongo though, because as Bongo bats away Shadow Ball after Shadow Ball fired at it, Kurze makes a daring tuck and roll, readying a Feint Attack. With its strike true, Gengar does the only thing it can; fire a SHADOW BALL point blank. Unfortunately for the big purple being, Echo had stopped it in its tracks, snatching control and promptly squeezing the hell out of him. To say the Gengar was incapcitated was an understatement.

Not only was it Echo's Psychic that held the Gengar in place and disturbed the mind, but as the Feint Attack lands, it is then that the Gengar grabs at its sense of self. There was a wound...

The purple ghost laughs to himself, eyes rolling up as he falls over.

With it, the first combat of the mansion is dealt with, and Ashley relaxes his shoulders. "Well done." Ash throws the party of Pokemon a big thumbs up for doing a damn good job taking on the spectral foes. Bongo holds up a fist to Kurze and Echo each for fist-bumps, while Sunny moves right to Sanford, and pats them for the assist, a bit of a snot bubble on the Scorbunny's nose.

"Well, that's the lobby... it'll get harder from here."

Ashley shoots a nod to Isaac, and a thumbs up as he gestures towards the foyer. "Guess its our turn. Welcome commitee is dealt with, so now we should focus on the room." Though as he says this, the main attachments of the room are the broom closet, the olden styled bathroom, the three-headed Houndoom statues, the chair Echo used on the Haunter, and the table with an oddly-shaped mirror...

Of course, there's two hallways. One to the right, leading to a new room, another door to the right behind the Houndoom statue to the right, and one to the left, candlelit that leads to a set of two doors...

"Let's not be like the meddling kids and not split up and search for clues, yeah?"

While Reinhardt successfully makes its mark, even though the damage is lessened considerably. His mouth opens, attempting to parse why he was even having the Eelektross ignore the Nidorino, but his interest lies more in that darkened move it uses. Tracing it in his mind, as it goes for Sanford, who is now contending with a Dodrio, it gives Ashley a chance.

But he's attempting to figure it out as he goes. He's never seen anything like it.

A chin rub later, he calls out. "Use your head." With it, the Nidorino begins to rush towards where the Eelektross is going, not to intercept but to close the distance and attack it from behind with an ordinary HORN ATTACK.

Battles on the field would be disadvantageous, meaning every potential straw to grasp at was important. As such, to strike while the iron was hot, to knock out the Eelektross now was imperative. While it was debilitated, Ashley watches Reinhardt race forward to attempt to pincer it between himself and Sanford.

If Gavin didn't pay him mind, he'd pay for it. While Isaac had all the pressure, Ashley would do his best to alleviate it off of him.

The manila folder comes into his arms, and he opens it and reads. His face is a bit of a uncertainty, as he goes over the details of the operation.

"Mining isn't really my forte, but I can do it." He ponders if there's another thing to ask for, and while he does think to ask, he does so in the fewest words possible. Theo was short in that way, and he seemed approachable now?

Why... was Ashley caring?

"If there is one available though, I would like to request another mission. I've been in a good number of tussels after our duel, and I believe I am a wasted asset on Meteno. I've been training my Pokemon up in the case any assignment came my way for that very reason."

He says no more. He waits.

Her hands had calluses, and Ash's had them too. Likely cuts and wounds, scars from his own hobby in the culinary arts. But watching the lady squeak and bounce with a giddy excitement, the black-haired man looks sheepish, using his free hand to scratch at the mask where his cheek would be.

"Small world!" It's a bit of feigned excitement, but how can he possibly take away that excitement? Especially when Sunny squeaked, and popped out of his jacket, hopping right in front of Aki with both paws on his hips.

Oh great. Sunny knew how cute he was. This boded well.

Ash decides to introduce him. "That's Sunny. Scorbunny that hatched from an egg. He's definitely the baby of my little family." He rubs the back of his head, before eyeing over towards a Dracozolt, only to ignore it as it stomps around.

"Well, Aki. What brings you this close to Oldale? Picnic?" He inquires, tilting his head. He doesn't pull down his mask at all. His eyes goes to the basket with the Turtwig.

The world is on fire. Nah, that's not it. It's more that the chaos erupts so much, that Ashley's face is riddled in sweat. When did he start sweating? Wiping his face, at least what was revealed from the face mask, he steels himself. Cinnabar was just like this. When he thinks about it that way...

It's hard not to remember the trauma.

Biting his lip beneath the mask, Gavin's gone, and as he turns around, even Isaac is gone. A click of his tongue in aggrivation, he realizes how much chaos is ensuing around him, not affecting him. This isn't the time to be jealous, instead he was going to use his position to his favor.

Quiet as a mouse, he continues to stay in the shadows, waiting to get the jump on someone, anyone. First person he sees, he's going to hit them as hard as possible, and then some. With Pluto at his side, he has an idea. With the fog, it's hard to see, He smirks, and grips onto Pluto's lower half, hanging off. "Float, Pluto." Using Pluto's LEVITATE, Ashley uses the mountain walls as cover, and watches from above, readying an ambush from above on some unsuspecting League fool.

"Bingo."

Ashley's eyes lock with a figure within the white smoke. He has a nasty surprise waiting for them the moment he drops down from Pluto.

Ah, another hug. Ash didn't mind. Isaac was a soul born of love, it seemed, and he needed more friends like that. With a pat on the back, Ashley would close his silver eyes and just listen in return. His smile is sheepish, his demeanor accepting.

He isn't wrong though. If Isaac would do the impossible for him, Ashley would do the same in return. That's what it meant to have a brother in arms.

Hearing however that they were truly kindred souls wasn't easy for him though. Never meant to be born? It hurts to hear at first that someone wouldn't want Isaac to be their son. Honest blasphemy. But the thing about it is that the grown-ups of yesterday were as prone to mistakes as the ones of today. Ash's smile disappears, even though Isaac took it in such a positive way.

What rings so true as to know Rocket was a necessary evil? Theo's teachings were necessary for him to survive. Learning to kill was needed to stay alive. Trading the soul was a necessity if it meant another day alive. With a hardened gaze, Ash eyes the sky above just a moment more.

"Thing is, Isaac... don't know if I'm me without Rocket." His face holds a hint of sadness, as he shrugs. "So you're right on the money. If the League and Rocket were distant memories, I'd likely be in a grave already."

Back to Isaac, he gives that same smile, sheepish, but now touched with a hint of pride.

"One day, we'll fix Rocket. I'm not going anywhere until then."

The good thing about the Stufful's BIDE was that it had been charging up the power and analyzing every bit of this alpha Tsareena. The bad thing was, even though it charged up, it mattered little when the Pyroar took the brunt of the attack. And as Jelly was moving closer to the center, losing its footing, as Ashley kept circling around the arena, he looks towards Jelly.

If Kiara was down, their natural strength would be troublesome... so instead, Ashley came behind Jelly, and smiles. "Slam it down, little buddy." And as he hoists up the 15 pounds of little bear, he throws it upwards, as the bear spins in the air and attempts to slap the Tsareena from behind with a hearty HAMMER ARM double! Sure, Ash lost his aerial combat, and his advantage, but no way in hell was the guy going down.

A hockey mask? Huh. With a laugh, Ash looks over the bulletproof vest. But at the same time, eyes looking over Isaac, not recognizing him at all as Bongo continues to do pull-ups. Once the mask is pulled to the side, he breathes a little easier. "Hey, don't worry about it, man. Bongo was spotting me in the fitness facilities a bit ago when I spoke with Theo." That... was concerning. It was his workout gear, and while it was a little big for him, it was a means to stay fit.

Rocket had the good facilities for that, at least.

Gavin hits the scene, and two Pokemon appear. An Eelektross and a Dhelmise, and with the miasma around the battlefield, Ashley considers his options as Gavin explains the exercise. With a smirk, he lets Bongo flip off of his pull-up training, before throwing one of his Pokeballs out, an attempted curve shot to get behind the Eelektross in particular.

"Understood. Then you won't mind if I fight dirty? Anything to level the playing field, right?" Reinhardt the Nidorino comes out first, and with a click of his tongue, a trick he learned watching Theo, Reinhardt comes in fast and hard to the now-coiling Eelektross, charging with a POISON JAB from its top-most horn, intent to debilitate first, and war of attrition second.
