With Josh taking up the lead to find that firewood, Saber, Yagyu, Watson, Spot, Bongo, and Bullet go on their merry adventure. While Bongo laughs at Watson who is eating moss, Bullet is busy perching herself atop of Spot, the Lucario's shoulder a pleasant spot for the bird. Two heads are better than one. When Josh finds a particular tree in mind, and... slices it down? That oes add a little hilarity towards the whole endeavor. Bongo, who is busy placing the moss on his face, now has a beard, and Bullet, who is watching Josh, gives a happy chirp. It was nice to see progress made!

Meanwhile, Julia, Isaac, and Ash got a moment to speak. While the thud in the distance was quickly noted by Julia, Ash just gives a smile. Reliable guy. Bongo was probably doing something stupid with Watson, and Bullet doing more work. Spot, Saber, and Yagyu though... he didn't have a read yet.

"I find getting away from it all relieving. The world is stressful enough, and cleansing the palette like this with other people? Makes waking up in bed just a little more satisfying." he starts, a grin towards both of them.

Isaac raises a point though. He can't be SuperAsh, and he's not going to be.

Waving a hand in front of him, Ash waves away that fear. "Wouldn't worry about that. Aside from getting tents set up, we also need to make sure the curry is good, and set a perimeter for potential wildlife. All fun and games until an Ursaring topples your canoe because you sprayed it with lysol." That wasn't a metaphor.

He makes a chuckle, and Josh returns with the firewood, the team holding sticks... and Bongo having a mighty moss beard and a single stick- his own. Isaac is quick to help, and Ash lets him. No reason to help if Isaac has it.

"Perfect. If you guys want to set up the firepit, I can prepare the ingredients for the dhansak curry." From his own pack, he reaches to grab his frying pan. The skillet is by no means inexpensive, and likely costed Ash a fortune, as he quietly spins the handle in his hand. He calls out to the other three.

"This'll be fun. So, aside from Yagyu? Yeah, Yagyu. Sides him, who can slice and dice and onion? Peeled and finely chopped." He's already taking cooking oil, and oiling the pan, as he really starts getting into it. "We'll wait on it for now, but we need to put all the spices together. Need to cook it with the chicken, and putting it on a single plate helps to mix all the spices around." A plate of salt, cumin, garlic, ginger, tumeric, fenugreek, coriander, garam masala, curry and chili powder, to be precise. All of them, Ash had left in a container that read 'SPICES' for sake of ease.

"We got a lot of it too. Gotta make multiple batches if every Pokemon wants a taste of sweet, spicy, and tangy curry."

Ashley is grinning. Cooking is his specialty, after all.

What they needed. Ash does begin to feel a bit tipsy, but it isn't quite hitting him just yet, as he looks Gavin straight in the eyes.

"Kay. Then I follow you till I get there."

It's without a single reservation that he says this, he's made up his mind. Resolve not shaken, but finally reinforced by everything. He had a need to fix what was wrong in the world. Ash is tired of hoping for a better tomorrow. Hope without action is delusion built by desire.

Taking a breath in, he looks at the empty glass, still trying his best to not wince at that taste in his mouth, but it disappears after a minute.

"Whatever it takes."

Ash asks this question, and it's weird that even though he did, he just... wanted to enjoy it for once. Every year, around the last month, he always just kind of the grump. He hates the holdiays, without reservation. But maybe...

His demeanor changes completely when he sees her. Passed out inside one of the many indents of New Mauville. A frightful little mouse, eyes wide with this purity, this innocence and naivety. Ash's face drops as he eyes her, the goal all along. From the look of her, she was alone. No, that wasn't it. He didn't want to pay attention to what was behind her.

Trauma rears its ugly head, as he recalls Jubilee's body mangled and bloodied. The same had happened in there. The child, all alone, malnourished, and ready to die. Ash felt his blood boil, but he drops down to a knee, holding a hand out towards the little yellow squeaker.

"Hey, kiddo... we're here to help."

The Pichu cries, and immediately pushes herself into Ash's arms, and the silver-haired man holds her tightly, closing them tightly. All they could do was give burial to the mother. As Ash pets and ruffles the little one's fur, his eyes turn to Isaac.

"Yeah... I'd like that, honestly I would." His lips are curved into a sheepish smile. "Guess I gotta buy gifts this year for everyone. Gotta do some odd jobs." He makes a chuckle, and decides to look to Bongo and Conga.

"Hey... can you both grab the mom? We need to... go bury her. For the little one?" Both monkeys nod, high five, and they are ON IT. The conga line is absolutely a go, and even Reinhardt follows to keep watch after them.

He turns back to Isaac again. "Let's make it a good one."

It's funny. Until a week or two ago, Ash was sure Theo was the worst person on the face of the region. Now? There's this weird respect. He shouldn't, he most certainly shouldn't see him that way, but it just... it was nice to no longer feel that hate.

Ever since coming back here, he just felt... better about everything. Thing about therapy, repressing the problem doesn't help; confronting it does.

Maybe that's why he felt so liberated.

"Yeah. Thanks, Theo."

Placing both hands into his pocket, he looks at the grave before them, a scowl returning to his lips. "Okay. I think I'm done with the pity party. Let's go get breakfast. This place sucks." It was morning. They shouldn't get crunk this early. "I'll even pay."

Well this is adorable. Had Ashley's mouth been visible, his brows raising would be accompanied to a smile, questioning if this were actually happening. But from chest, to thighs, to butt, it didn't matter. Ashley had to chuckle.

He needed to be friends with this person.

"Thanks. I really appreciate it. Allergies really got me this year." He pulls his mask down with one hand, showing a smile with a hand outstretched. "You can call me Ashley, Sawyer, Ash, whatever. You?"

His Scorbunny popped out of his jacket, both ears out in front, a happy look on his face.

Another mission. Maybe it was due to that one with Gavin the other day with the Willy Wonka business, but apparently Ash had done good enough to get another assignment. Some supply drop, another Rocket supervising over him, driving into it. Basic stuff, basic stuff.

What isn't basic is how juicy it all is- to anyone that isn't Ashley. The other Rocket was someone named Mint. Doesn't take a Rocket scientist, or a rocket scientist, to put two-and-two together, and while it does bother him a little, he swallows his pride and goes along with it.

He was in a better place now mentally as is. There he was, middle of the early morning, waiting for the Rocket to lead the particular raid. He's outside of Mauville, he's wearing a black jacket, one that helps him shield himself in the night, and the black hair, something Mint hadn't seen, helps the blending in too. He was dressed for camoflage.

With Sunny in his jacket, popping his little bunny ears out, the bunny gets pet, as Ash smiles. This was going to be a fun ride.

Theo says it so succinctly. Long-winded as Ashley put it, Theo put it together in one fell swoop, and Ashley finds himself staring at Katherine's grave again. He closes his eyes, takes a deep breath in.

"Thank you."

He... thanks Theo Beckett. Theo won't win a smile. He won't win the love of a family member, he won't even win Ashley over in the slightest. No, instead Theo just gets a thank you.

Because anything else would be too much for Ashley to stomach. But this, this alone was telling the older man he was right in what he did. Or at the very least, telling him that Ashley was finally over it.

About damn time.

The best part about having a best friend was that even though Ashley just absolutely let it all out, that he lied, and how he attempted to beg for an apology, Isaac responded in such a way that left Ashley's eyes pricked by tears. Hugging his friend back, he pats his back, pushes his face in the shoulder.

People will always be there for each other if they matter. Which makes it all the more special to Ashley, who had no one to start with. Here he was. A person he considered his closest friend.

The hug was symbolic of everything the once believed, shattered and falling to the wayside. Now, as he finally gets the moment to respond, he opens his mouth, and nothing comes out. Isaac tells it to him straight, that things will be different, and that he won't let it break them. He wants to say he knows it won't, but the traitor's blood on his hands makes it hard to believe that.

For a moment though, he believes. "Yeah... thanks man." For once, he's speechless. Typically, he has a lot more to say. Now, he just doesn't. He is without words, unable to even apologize. To apologize for anything. He realizes then, had Isaac been even remotely gay, that that might have ended differently. But A: Ash loves Isaac like a brother, and B: Isaac is happy with Sunshine, and C: Ash already is fond of another. With a nod, he merely turns to the manor and eyes back to Isaac.

Finally, the mission.

The stairs upwards to the mansion, decorated all over in Halloween cheer, curved the building in a sinister light, and the way that the moon shone tonight only elongated the shadows, as if the place was straight from a nightmare. All it was missing was a crackle of thunder, but as he, Lucia, Sunny, Bongo, and Jelly make their way to the door, he nods again. He opens the door.

Red carpet lines the foyer, the way before them lit in candles like one sees from a seance. Two sets of stairs sit before them, with two doors to each side. Rooms off to the side, with a myriad of doors to explore. "They should be on the second floor."

Unfortunately for both of them, every door on the first floor lobby flies open all at once, and from them, creeping in the shadows, the creatures of the night stir quietly within the residence of evil. Ghosts appear in front of them, a menagerie ranging from Haunter, to Shuppet, and Misdreavus.

Eight in total. Each with eyes on the duo, deathly smirks of hunger and torture on the brain. (HAUNTER, HAUNTER, SHUPPET, SHUPPET, SHUPPET, MISDREAVUS, MISDREAVUS, MISDREAVUS)

Ashley holds a fist out to Isaac. "Ready to rock the boat?" A silver eye ready to throw right the hell down with some spooky trespassers. Regardless of his answer, he nods to Bongo, and Bongo prepares his gun-logs (the Ranbo costume), and his guns (his muscles), and quickly sprints right smack into the middle of them with a WOOD HAMMER slapping one of the Misdreavus clean across the mouth! He's the party starter, and he begins flexing to show he damn well knows it. Perhaps this was Bongo's puberty phase?

But the party doesn't stop till Sunny walks in, no no no, because with a soccer ELECTRO BALL, Sunny begins sparking with electricity, as it quickly runs forward, rushing right towards one of the Haunters. The little bunny's orange bits glowing with yellow electricity, as LIBERO activates, shifting its typing with it. With Jelly and Lucia staying back for now, Ashley starts big, he starts strong, and he knows Isaac is about to dish that pain back.

Kep saying it was terrifying wasn't missing the point. In truth, the scar on his arm was a fun story now, but at the time the guy nearly bled out over Pacifilog. A chunk of him was gone, and torn straight through. It was lucky they had the supplies to fix it, else he might have a metal bar in his left arm.

Still, now that it was tribal tattoo'd, he could smile about it. "Yeah, this guy really does come at the nick of time. It's magical, actually. I can probably ask him for a favor, he'll be there. All the positive aspects of a Boltund in a person, with a bit of a mess."

The idea of a Camerupt gourmet did give him ideas though. Another time. He considered the idea of teaching the Camerupt the importance of baking, and using his heat to bake a cake later.

For events, like weddings or birthdays.

Kep's admittance to their new cooking adventure only has Ashley smile big, as he throws his hand out to agree with Isaac. "Yeah. Made curry on a cooking trip. You should come next time, Kep. If you don't have a tent, you can sleep in mine if you want to come." He offers, shooting a wink to Kep.

He doesn't draw attention to it. It's a big tent, he doesn't need to worry about misunderstandings. His wink, however, might make that a little harder to believe.

Moving towards the red carpeted living room, he quickly scratches the head of the Eevee sleeping on one of the beanbags before gesturing to the other two on the couch. "Let's just talk for now. Relax, connect to the Wi-Fi, and enjoy some music while we wait for lunch. Yeah?"

The smell of cooked fish would take awhile to waft throughout his whole apartment. So they had time.

It would be a bit. Might as well get to know this guy. As Bongo, Conga, and Watson are trapezing above masterfully, Juliette comes to rest by the couch, her shiny black fur beautifully shining from the lamp, as she lays her head for Ashley to enjoy. So fluffy. She's not wanting pets, she's expecting them.

"So... that mission. How'd you two even meet, anyways?"

Mostly everyone is present.

Now's the time to talk about the topic. As they walk, Isaac catching another beast, some Copperajah elephant, Ash decides in that moment to ask. "So. You a holiday guy?" It's an honest question, one that Ashley doesn't mind asking whatsoever.

"Never really had a holiday. Foster parents tried, but never worked out. They thought they knew what I wanted, but they didn't know. You know?" He shoots Isaac a grin, passing another angry Electrode, who decided that today would be the day it was going to ROLLOUT at maximum velocity, causing skid marks into the steel floor, as Ash takes a moment to stare with concern. With a very small, inoffensive push, he keeps Isaac from continuing.

And the duo watch the Electrode quite literally tear through steel walling, and further flying through the facility.

"... it's like the supermarket at 2AM in here." That's when all the weird shit went down. And that Electrode who thought it had all the makings of a blue Togedemaru only was the tip of the iceberg.

Bullet's Whirlwind sits as simply ineffective, and Ash clicks his tongue. Shalin's attempt to overload its senses is smart, as the loud vibrations of Queen Zing take their effect. And while she's being flung to and fro, Ashley takes this moment to win in the most underhanded way he can.

Throwing Bongo out, he gives a nod to the monkey, the chimp returns his own, as Ash grabs the stick. Bongo holds onto the sides of it, and with a baseball pitch, is FLUNG through the air to the deafening supersonic scream. The chimp has every second to prepare for the imminent SLAM jam space jam, and it prepares by using its stick as a grounder.

By that, Bongo spins through the air vertically, slicing and dicing with the stick, and proceeds to clap the hell out of the Crobat, sending it into the ground as the slam was at the precise moment the least amount of air was in the Crobat's lungs.

In other words, as soon as the chimp slapped it out of the air, all the air in its lungs that were left was gone, and with it Ash was already two steps ahead.

"Right into the ground." He orders, before the Starly quickly makes its last move needed. A FINAL GAMBIT to ensure it stayed down for the count. Bullet flies to the top of the chamber, and straight down. A free bird, a slam, and now a fainted bat. Bullet falls over from the sheer exertion of energy.

Ashley holds a thumbs up to Shalin. "Nice teamwork!"

That was an uncomfortable memory. It was like a wound he didn't want opening up. Ash and Jayden had been friends in Rocket, but the edge of a knife is cold, colder still is how chilling a former friend can be when they feel betrayed. That isn't due to just Jayden, but his own actions led to that nasty lighthouse situation.

He quietly contemplates his next words, but the taste of scotch blanks the brain. Ash puts the glass down, and coughs, realizing he barely had more than a gulp or two.

Gavin continues. Dark hair, green eyes. Ash looks at the scotch, and with his left hand, smacks his forehead. "Course I like a Rocket." He's laughing now. He's a little buzzed, not tipsy, but he can definitely feel it. It's a sad laugh. But it ends a lot more wholesome.

"Who cares? I like him. He's precious, sweet, sassy... but I guess I just didn't expect it." He rolls his hand with the scotch. He isn't tipsy, so he keeps going with the scotch. Brute force it.

Guess it was time to change the subject, because his cheeks were a little hot.

He gulps down the remaining scotch, places the glass on the table, and the way his face scrunched up showed his lacking experience. Immediately, he inquires, dead serious.

"What's the best way to climb the ladder?"
