It’s almost a strange sense of deja vu overtakes him as they return to a position they were in years ago now. But look at how much has changed in just that short amount of time.[break][break]

Once he’s read everything over, at least on a superficial level, he leans back in his chair and lifts his scotch glass once again. Turns it with his wrist so that the amber liquid rolls inside the glass before he takes a long, mulling sip of the liquor. Then he lets out a short, definitive huff of air.[break][break]

“We can see how it goes, and if the opportunity seems fortuitous, perhaps we can move forward from there.” The hazy lilac of his own gaze meets that of the younger man’s. “That it is, so I would say in my not so humble opinion— you’ve come to the right place once more.”[break][break]

Setting down the glass, Enzo steeples his fingers together. “I would be happy to provide council in your endeavor. I’ll read this over more meticulously, of course. And if you have further updates going forward, anything that might be of use.”

“Hopefully not,” he agreed with a slight nod of his head before he sipped his drink again. Once more, the sweetness made his nose wrinkle. “But one can never be too prepared.”[break][break]

Well now, didn’t he sound like an old fuddy duddy?[break][break]

It would be a shame, though. She was right about that. Stingy as he could be, the price hadn’t mattered to him in this instance if it meant it further solidified their connection as mentor and protege. It had been one of his more thoughtful gifts, truly.[break][break]

Somewhere, in the back of his childhood memory—he recalled the delight of a little sister when he’d once presented her with a ladybug hairclip. Cheaply made, and definitely stolen with his sticky fingers because when he was young he couldn’t afford even that.[break][break]

As Yumi excitedly tucked the hairpin through her long, dark hair, the feeling that the sight and memory combined felt much the same. A little sister. He’d had those once.[break][break]

A region away. In another life.[break][break]

Enzo smiled lightly, and pushed the recollection of his younger, past self away. There was no use in going so soft—particularly when he’d left all of that behind by choice. “It looks lovely. Very fitting for you.”

“I am,” he says simply, as he recaps the decorative, crystalline bottle. Though, he’s perhaps been a bit…distracted in his personal life, as well. A bit selfishly so, but there’s still potential. He’s always thinking about potential. Opportunity. But even then, he’d be an idiot to have not read up on the reports sent out about the changes, and the leaks created to the organizations infrastructure.[break][break]

“Have you now? I wouldn’t expect any less from you as admin.” So where does that leave Enzo?[break][break]

Silently, he meets the younger man’s gaze evenly and mulls over the explanation in his mind. Turns it over a few times without response.[break][break]

If you are willing. His response is a quiet hum.[break][break]

Glass in hand, he slides around the side of his desk and settles into the plush chair, then sets his drink on a coaster.[break][break]

“Let’s have a look, then.” He feels a little bit like an old man as he pulls his reading glasses from a tray and pops them on before unlocking his computer to pull up the email.[break][break]

He could have simply viewed the contents on his phone, he supposes, but this will be more secure…and also easier to read. “Alright,” he hums as he scans over the outline of the plan, pushing the glasses up the bridge of his nose before looking back up at jayden cross.[break][break]

“How would you like me to go about that, then? Do you intend to subtly connect this network to The Nimbus?” It’s not a yes, but it’s a start.

He hums lightly when she finally decides to answer. “You’re not wrong. That sort of power is quite compelling. But is it not also easily tiresome?”[break][break]

Enzo values his wealth—he’s built it from virtually nothing. But he isn’t often frivolous with it, either. Those with the power behind old money are, frankly, boring in his humble opinion.[break][break]

And Enzo is not a humble man.[break][break]

“What good is opulence or monetary boon if there’s no intellectual power or charisma to support it?” The mind, and innovation by extension. That’s power, versatile and expansive.[break][break]

The pink that tints her cheeks makes him smile, Cheshire-like. And then she demures, of course. Shying away from his forthrightness. But he has little issue in persistence. “I said what I said.” His smile stretches a hair wider.[break][break]

The twist to his secondary remark gives him pause, though, and he looks down at the remnants of his glass with a short huff of laughter. “Can it not be mutually beneficial?”[break][break]

There is an odd sort of delicateness in this interaction, he decides, as the tip toe around one another and over-complicate simple matters. It is interesting, though, and he supposes that is why he’s still engaged. “Well, whoever strikes your interest most, I figure.”[break][break]

The forwardness in her question causes his brows to shoot up, unexpected from someone who has been blushing her way through the conversation to that point. But how is he to deny her the answer?[break][break]

“On occasion, if I’m that compelled.” Something else he is not often frivolous with (for reasons that he refuses to dwell on,) but for the right person? All bets off.

Surprisingly, Enzo wasn’t actively trying to draw attention to himself or pull some sort of reaction from Kosei. He was committing the simple act of standing, limbs loose and relaxed. His eyes were heavy (though they often were—careful to view others with a lazy sort of regard.)[break][break]

Still, it wasn’t like Enzo didn’t notice Kosei watching. It was curious, but he didn’t remark upon it save for a singular lift of one brow before turning back to head for the changing rooms again, towel retrieved. He made quick work of toweling off and dressing again, before wringing out his hair, which had fallen loose at some point during the prolonged soak.[break][break]

Once again, he avoided watching Kosei. Instead, he sat on a bench facing away from him. He meticulously wove his wet hair into braids as he waited for the other to finish up. “Alright. We could just go to the bar here, but there’s a dive down the street so it’s probably cheaper, and probably has better food.”[break][break]

So, that said, Enzo led Kosei out, down the hall and through the lobby out to the Lavaridge streets. “The Yowling Meowth, I think it’s called.”
