The water park was a fun little location, an aquatic attraction bonanza, and during this time, absolutely beautiful during the golden hour! It was just bright enough with the sun, while low, as the sun was setting, as Genny led the charge, a two-person inner-tube on her arm, as she carried it.[break][break]

"These slides are really fun! We had a lot back home in Alola," she regales her friend, Elise Calcifet, who she had pulled to the park. "I can stay in front if you prefer, but this is the biggest slide of the park... are you excited?" Genny bounces on her heels. They were already halfway up!

Having gone as a group here to the water park, Genny the time to grab two rafts. One for herself, and one for her friend. After a lot of work on the slides, Genny held one out to her friend.[break][break]

She didn't know marilee beaufort that well. But now was a good time. "Hey! Wanna hit the lazy river? Just you and me! It'll give us time to get to know each other better."[break][break]

Genny wanted to know more about her gang, and Marisol was the only person she had never been around, save for the group Glamping trip.

Relaxation on the beach with Andrea Vaneau had been nice, but now, as she had finished getting a lovely tan, and dressed a little more for the street, she had invited Shalin out to the Arcade. Round One, if she recalled.[break][break]

"Of course! I remember the tournament really well." It was a nice tournament too! She enjoyed it quite a bit. "It was a good battle!" She would look about the Arcade, a place she never really went. Round One was nice, but she never played games like this. She had one of those old school retro consoles back in the day, but by the time she became thirteen, she stopped playing regularly.[break][break]

With the excitement behind the music and rhythm games, Genny's eyes widen. "Oh? Those sound fun! I'm more-" she pondered it. "I'll admit, I'm kind of new!"

No dangerous fights? That was a good thing at least! That meant Genny could relax her sh-... her shoul... her sh-"PFFTT AHAHAHA." she starts to laugh, a little ticklish. She tries to grab Eris' hand to stop her, but all she can do is laugh. Even as morally gray as Genny had gotten, she still was human. She laughed like one, and as she grabs herself, and cackles, she waves her hands out.[break][break]

"Stop, I'm ticklish!" she grins, as she follows behind Eris now as she pulls away, letting Eris lead forward. The whole time, Genny smiles.[break][break]

Snacks huh? The mention of them has her remember her picnic almost two years ago with her first boyfriend in Hoenn. During the whole Meteno situation, the picnic near Rustboro... it was a good time. It was near here, just south.[break][break]

The memories were... nice. It was so simple back then.[break][break]

"What kind?" Genny asks in a sweet voice, curious on the appetite of the young lady before her. Akane stares towards Eris sweetly, and Beachboy well... he walks next to Reiner. Rolls, more like.

Desi is right. For in Hoenn's vast landscape, the snakes that live in the grass, the curse of Rocket plagues it. For no matter how much Genny wants it, their venom curses everyone alive. They are a poison upon the region. An infection, born from negligence.[break][break]

And Genny nods. She knows. If they ever rest, if ever they close their eyes, the snakes will eat them alive.[break][break]

Practice with Gram had given her with understanding. A move forward, a swing down, but not strong. It was a weak tap to the blade. Only the blade. Calculated to the blade. To get Desi used to her speed first, before anything further, and as she squeezes the hilt, she pulls away from Desi, beginning the waltz of blades, and walking in a circle around Desi.[break][break]

Her question is asked.[break][break]

It's a hard question for most. Genny isn't most. Her eyes have this coldness to them. The fire burns, the hero inside readied and waiting, but the ruthlessness was mercy upon her and those around her. A ruthlessness self-taught by tragedy, forged in steel by the strongest to get her there. Her answer was always so easy. [break][break]

From the time in Dewford's islands, it was evident she was wrong. [break][break]

From the time in Fortree's swamps, it was evident she was still wrong. [break][break]

From the time in the Megalopolan prison, it corrected her resolve.[break][break]

"Yes. I will." she's quick to duck low, and move the blade again, never to attack Desi, stopping moments before hitting her. Her eyes light in flames. "I will be the shield of Hoenn." She pulls her blade away from Desi. "To defend another, if it requires to kill the enemy-"[break][break]

The shadow grows behind her, the flame of her heart engulfing all around her.[break][break]

"I won't hesitate anymore."

As Genny holds Yuina's hands, she sits and listens to the tale. Yuina woke up here, alone, with no memory, nothing but a name, a handful of Pokemon. Alone. That was terrible. To be stranded somewhere, never knowing who she was... it's not as simple to not worry about who came before. That mattered to Yuina, so it mattered to Genny all the same.[break][break]

Yuina had a dizzying start, and had pieced together what had happened to her all by her lonesome, standing alone, in a world that she didn't recognize. And by the time she broke, and stated she was never supposed to exist, Genny pulled Yuina so fucking fast into a hug, the sounds of her own patchy breathing heavy, as tears stung her eyes. Beachboy was crying too, hugging and being the slime child from behind Genny, a hug from behind, the squelching letting her know that 'hey, i'm here too.'[break][break]

"Yuina Higashi is one of my best friends," she starts, her voice cracked fully, her eyes tearing up. "I'm glad you exist... you've been doing this all by yourself the whole time," she cries out through her throat, closing and clinched. Her eyes are pooling down her cheeks, as she keeps that hug tighter, and tighter.[break][break]

"Yuina Higashi deserves to exist. Past or present, you are you. And if you don't know who Yuina is, I'll drop everything to help you find out, past or present."[break][break]

"Because you're my friend."[break][break]

That's her answer.

More tenacious? Genny nods. She had suffered almost fatal wounds in the Icelands from the sword bearing dog Rocket. So, hearing that has Genny grin. "Got it." With the beginning of practice, Genny would attempt it. Not once, not twice, but a total of ten times each. She wanted to get a feel for each one, to ingrain it in the body and the soul. She'd have to practice a lot. With Ky learning it pretty quickly behind her, it was evident she'd take the time to try it on her own sometime.[break][break]

It's not particularly easy. But each break has her understand a little more. Piecing it together, she felt better. Thea's teachings were enough to get her mind together. And with it...[break][break]

She felt confident.[break][break]

"I think I'm ready, Master Thea." It was meant as a showing of respect, as she gets closer towards Thea by the end of the fall break practice. She was taking it very seriously. "I'm ready."

More philosophy... Genny listens. The purest form of motivation, laid bare for Genny. Her love for struggle, how beautiful it was. Tog row and challenge the highest of highs. All Genny can do is listen on. To how the world has changed so much, so hard. The woman's words burn her, but she does not flinch away from the flame. Even when given the compliment, that she would be one of those people to inspire, to lead, to defy factors and grow only has her clinch tighter to her chest.[break][break]

The people need a leader, an icon, someone to believe in. Genny didn't disagree. For her for a long time, that was annalise henderson, Melody Miro, and PENELOPE LIVY for her, now adding Navy, ollie morales, paxton concordas, and Josh Devlin. All of them, were leaders in their own rights. They led her to the path that she's on now. The one where she wants to be the Champion to go beyond. It no longer meant anything to her to be the Head Ranger. That dream was dead. Now, she had to surpass them all. And the Rocket before her, makes compelling arguments the whole way through.[break][break]

Genny's quiet the entire time. The madness this Rocket had in her heart wasn't fully madness. She was... complicated. Her ideals could not fully fight Sylvia alone. She was incapable of dismissing them. To become the strongest, she had to break and be rebuilt, over and over again. And if that meant, this truly lost Rocket before her, had to be used to get there...[break][break]

"Fine. If your great purpose is to be a spring board for me-"[break][break]

Her eyes burn with flame.[break][break]

"Then I'll devour your ambition. And use you for all you are. If you saving that kid meant nothing to you, than you are lost. You are a villain. A stepping stone for me." Because she cares. Because she wants to save Hoenn. Because Rocket needs to be stopped, and no legendary or avatar would stop her to succeeding that goal.[break][break]

She wanted a hero? Fine. She wanted to be hated? Fine. She wanted to make her the paragon she will one day become? Fine.[break][break]

"And when Rocket is gone, I'll be the paragon that puts you away for good," Genny declares with vim and vigor upon her tongue. "Go." She throws her head to the opposite direction of sirens. This was the least she could do for what Sylvia did for that kid and the Sewaddle.

"Mt. Chimney..." An eruption? The world is at the brink of war, and it's a measly volcano that takes him out? She turns her gaze downwards, the look of sadness. That moment, in the Vital Tourney, their battle. Getting to experience a fight with THE Champ. A moment that she would never trade for anything, that battle... she cherishes it.[break][break]

But.[break][break]

When Swift nuzzles into her, Genny nearly jumps, but does her best to scritch the ears. It was a smart Pokemon, to comfort her so. "Hey there." she brushes the fur, and takes a moment to stop. Kyle may be alive? She wonders this... just a little.[break][break]

"No body means he's not confirmed dead... which is good. I want a rematch one day." she brightens up, trying to keep Josh in a much better mood. She ignores the unprofessionalism, the foul language not bothering her. She lets it sit.[break][break]

She turns to Josh again, and smiles.[break][break]

"Give it time. Besides. I need my rematch with you too one day soon. I still have a badge to get from you," she tries to beam to him, tries to make him feel better.[break][break]

"So rest up and get that arm in working condition... you hear me?"

Genny takes a moment. Sure, fishing was nice. But Genny shakes her head and leans back. "No... there's someone who lives away from there, that I adore. He's cute, and has this way about him... everything will be okay. He makes me laugh." She brushes her outfit, and eyes the floor lovingly. Her mind on one person. At least, for the moment.[break][break]

At her mention of the reform program, he responds. He is. Rather, he was Rocket. Her demeanor doesn't change, she's an ear right now. But the mention of Caleb Harcourt has her lips part. Him too? What? Her eyes look down. She remembered him a little. He healed her leg... she thinks? Some point, that made sense. But wasn't he good friends with-[break][break]

Isaac Merlo?[break][break]

She's takes a minute. The taste of that thought entering her mouth. He was so outgoing, so jovial, she can't imagine it. Yet, she's imagining it. The moments with Navy in the RKS Simulation not too long ago has her remember his words... and the moments in Dewford more. The way the League operates plagues her mind, an Elite Four member killing one of his own Pokemon.[break][break]

And then she decides with a smile, to not let his social suicide go by the A/C unit's attempt to drown him. She doesn't press him further. It changes nothing. It never would have.[break][break]

"It does. Everyone deserves a second chance... it's whether they have the want to change that makes the difference. Like you, Lights." She moves to sit down on the desk, this small, four foot eleven Ranger, now looking at the guy as close eye-to-eye as he can, even with the mask.[break][break]

"Can I get you anything to eat? I'll order it for delivery." she pulls out her phone.

Pon was just overprotective... for good reason. And when Andrea helped calm her down, or at least try, Genny had to get the answer. But... the way Andrea tenses up, the shorter redhead's face was serious a spell.[break][break]

"Necrozma," the disdained word leaves her lips with an ichor of anger. Genny's face contorts in her own faded memory of the fields of Galar... they picked an avatar? If Necrozma was a legend and bestowed it on others, than Genny would have to overcome it. She would overcome it. To hear this Avatar was in the Megalopolan prison too, has her scowl.[break][break]

She shakes it off. Multiple instances of trauma overlap. She can't show that now.[break][break]

"We were busy," Genny begins to apply the lotion onto her back, her hands moving over her back, rubbing down the lotion with care not to hurt. She tries to smile, not for Andrea, not for Genny, but for the Ogrepon. Pon went through enough.[break][break]

Upon Pon's hissing, Gordo moved closer. Pon would feel the arms of a little armadillo moving around her. Gordo may not be bright, he may not be human, he may not know the true pain of war. But his friend was in pain.[break][break]

So. Even if they knew each other for a day, at best, Gordo would hug her. A sentiment that things will be better. That a brighter tomorrow is around the corner, and to smile for the things they have today.[break][break]

Such wisdom in the heart of a little green armadillo.[break][break]

"I hope... it doesn't hurt now?" A new target. Someone to train to beat. The Avatar of Necrozma (Zev Harcourt). He hurt Andrea.[break][break]

So one day, she'll surpass him.

Gordo was happy as a Clamperl, a tiny red blush on his face, as he waved to his Auntie. Gordo adored Andrea, and while they had known each other for very little, Gordo would move closer to give her a hug, as Genny smiles.[break][break]

"It's been too long! I'm glad to see you're doing well!" Genny's lips curl upwards again, and while she felt excitement to see Andrea, this vacay was going to let them all just relax together! Finally![break][break]

It's not long until Elise Calcifet comes in, rather punctual no less, as the Sandshrew twirls around to wave, Genny standing so short with the girlies around. But even so, she makes the greeting. "Elise! You made it!" Genny's exuberance is on full display, the ambassador looking absolutely precious. Divine and regal to boot.[break][break]

It's not long before DESIREE BLOOMS and Yuina Higashi enter back to back, Genny moving to hug Desiree the moment she got close. "Desi! So glad you could make it!" After the hug, Gordo would get the kiss on the cheek, and the blush on Gordo's face was evident. So many pretty ladies here, and Gordo, tiny as he was, got the love and adoration of all of them, and Speedy, well... that little Shellos nodded. A total vibe. Yuina too entered in, seemingly bewildered by the beautiful scenery and locale, and Genny can't help but agree. "Yuina!" Genny's face softens. A recent talk in Petalburg between them had her beam at the brunette, a wave of her hand, and soon a pull-in for a hug.[break][break]

She's so comfy right now. The Girlygang was almost here. Save for...[break][break]

"I think Shalin Nariya, marilee beaufort, and luka chêne are the only ones left to arrive! I know Luka's been away, but the invitation was still sent out." she beams to the crowd, before turning on her heel, Gordo following while Speedy bounces on her shoulder. When Genny spins around, arms outstretched, and looking over the resort lobby, she looks over everyone. "There's so much to do here! And this week, is all for us! So let's kick back, just a little!"[break][break]

It might counterintuitive to how Genny approached Desi earlier... but there was a reason.[break][break]

In a short, short while... they may never get to see each other ever again. This was it. The war was coming, and having one good, final memory for any of them... Genny would live her heart out here, and now. Because when Rocket comes, she will answer.

The ponytail pulled up, the Ranger coat on, two hazel eyes look outwards. Four messages sent, back-to-back.[break][break]

The first was towards her friends. Within the Girlygang Group Chat, she would message quickly. She looks on with a quiet sorrow that plagues her heart and mind:[break][break]

'Hello friends. I want to message all of you, to tell you I love every one of you. Stay safe. Please.'[break][break]

The second was towards Isaac Merlo. It's heartfelt, as heartfelt as it can be right now. She was heading into war. She wanted to be there for him. But she had a job to do:[break][break]

'Hey Izzy. I want you to know, in case I don't make it-' she stops, and erases most of her message. 'I'm really scared. Let's get some boba after this.'[break][break]

To Navy.[break][break]

'Sheriff. I haven't seen you in awhile. Sorry I've been busy. I wanted to challenge your Gym, if that's still available. But I can't.'[break][break]

And to Melody Miro.[break][break]

'Long time no talk, Melody! I wanted to do the Gym Challenge. I've gotten a lot stronger since last time. But I haven't forgotten my promise to you. Thank you for being my inspiration.'

She silences her phone... the waves are loud on the banks of the coming storm. Mossdeep is to see war in mere moments, with the Rockets having made their approach from a distance. With a fist balled up, and two eyes glaring forward, she prepares for what needs to be done.[break][break]

With her head turned to see her friend, her Captain, she asks ollie morales.[break][break]

"Captain Morales," she asks, the calm before the storm engulfing all, including the coming adrenaline. "I will do everything I can to keep them at bay." The prison had truly made Genny colder. With a gloved hand to her forehead, she shows undying loyalty.
