The devil's advocacy talk was appreciated. Genny preferred to be open-minded about it, but with a heated sigh, she moves forward, leaning down to lay on her stomach when the offer came up. "Sure, go ahead, Andrea."[break][break]

Within a moment, Genny would bemoan, "I would have totally been okay with him picking surfing first. But it's the way he did it," she digs into it, closing her eyes, and letting Andrea do her thing. "He decides to dump me on the ocean when he took me out one day. And decided five minutes later to go talk to some slutty-"[break][break]

The rudest words were about to come out of Genny's mouth, but she stops, closing her eyes.[break][break]

"Anyways... sorry, Andrea. I can get your back when you're done?"

That super-effective charm seemed to get Pon blushing, and Gordo would adjust his shades. Andrea and Pon? Woo'd. Gordo got the moves. Short king he may be, but the armadillo knew how to use every inch. He was an adora-ball.[break][break]

Andrea's compliment to Genny's swimsuit has her cheeks heat up, as she sheepishly laughs, rubbing sunscreen to her neck. "Yeah? Last Christmas, DESIREE BLOOMS helped me appreciate my beauty a bit. I guess she rubbed off a little-" she tries to not let the embarrassment of the boys near them get to her. But she was far past the 'hot' phase. She knew she was. Even if just a little. "Your swimsuit is fantastic too. I wish I had your legs too." She stared down at them. Long and slender.[break][break]

Andrea's request on the other hand, was met with more confidence.[break][break]

"Gordo. Spin dash."[break][break]

Gordo held up a finger to Pon, to insinuate 'one moment por favor', before getting up and beginning to spin into the beach sand, shredding sand into the eyes of the perverted. Each SAND ATTACK used to tell them 'they are taken' or 'they are not available' and 'they won't give you the time of day'. Each time a guy came close, giving the classic 'ey baby', Gordo came in.[break][break]

Before long, they're clear. Gordo's work done, as he huffs and puffs, waddling onto the towels of his girls, and giving the honk-shoo snooze.[break][break]

Ah... the bad memories that came with those guys. "A lot of them remind me of an ex of mine. My first boyfriend decided he loved surfing more than me," she cringes, beginning to lay down onto the towel, done with her work. "Good job though, Gordo. My little dillo baby." Two thumbs up from the armadillo, and a roll to Andrea for love. Gordo was living the life those men wish they could've.

The male gaze didn't pester just Andrea, as the shorter redhead found the eyes on her as well. While Gordo lugged the small bag and the tiny cooler with him, the little armadillo insistent on bringing the goods despite his smaller stature, Genny would come with her own swimsuit clad upon her form.[break][break]

Nosebleeds were new to Genny. It's thanks to her girlygang that she feels like she has this sex appeal to begin with, but seeing the guys basically bark like dogs was almost concerning.[break][break]

Almost. Being desirable did something to the ego.[break][break]

Towel splayed out for her, as Gordo dug the cooler into the ground for safety between them, Genny finally leaned back onto the towel, her swimsuit in full view, but not needing a parasol at all. Andrea had it covered, and Genny grins to her. "Yeah. What was it, half a year since glamping? I don't remember relaxing after that," she chimes, stretching with a new pair of shades on her hazel eyes, and a bottle of sunscreen in the hand. The way one arm stretched over her head, and the other above gave plenty the ability to see her swimsuit.[break][break]

She turns her head to Pon, who Gordo now accosts with fingerguns as he walks next to her and sits down. "Looks like Gordo likes you, Pon!" she chimes out, the Sandshrew placing a water bottle next to her. Genny can't help but grin.[break][break]

"Ah, Gordo. Such a sweetheart," Genny coos out, starting to apply the sunscreen to her legs.

The smell of the sea salt gently wafts in from the ebb and flow of the beachside waters. Slateport was nothing new to Genny, but the reason they were here, was the Paradise Resort itself. The resort was somewhere that Genny never thought she'd have the money for, but she was able to afford a few of the tickets with enough money left over for the tourist trap it was.[break][break]

Paradise Resort definitely lived up to its name, as Genevieve felt rather small within the lobby itself. Spinning around to look at everything, it almost seemed too rich for her blood. And perhaps it would have been when she first moved in. But the year was definitely kind with bonuses, and the like. And maybe, just maybe, she could take DESIREE BLOOMS's advice finally, and just... breathe.[break][break]

"Wow..." she felt like a kid in a candy store. Had this not been a girls-only kinda trip, she'd have pulled Isaac Merlo by the arm. But with her phone out, she would take picture after picture. Was she too worried about her hair? The other part of her tried to perk up her chest.[break][break]

It doesn't take long for Genny to set eyes on Andrea Vaneau, as she's mid-shot, and Genny's quick to put the phone away, and rush up. Tiny as Genny was, she was still a ball of sunshine. "Andrea! And-" That beast from the prison! And the simulation! Ogrepon, right? "Your newest friend!" she pipes up, leaning down to smile at them. Genny remembers from their simulation run. Genny had defended Andrea's plea for Ogrepon to listen, throwing herself to the masked being's well being, even risking her life.[break][break]

Beneath Genny, the sunglasses touting green Sandshrew shoots Andrea fingerguns. Gordo was ecstatic. That was his aunt, right there. Auntie Andrea. Hundy percent.[break][break]

"This place is amazing, huh?" she muses, another companion on her shoulder, the slug named Speedy, the Shellos chiming with a pair of sunglasses himself, bouncing to and fro.

There was no malice in her eyes, and as soon as Yuina struggled, Genny's hands would find their way to Yuina's. Placed now atop, Genny was kneeling now, head turned up look her friend in the eyes. No hate, no betrayal, it's just a sweet acceptance, like a SWEET SCENT procured by a horde of Combee.[break][break]

"You didn't lie," she starts, giving her sunny smile, running a thumb over her hand as Isaac Merlo often did for her. "I still had fun with Yuina Higashi. Meeting her. Enjoying the culture with her. Inviting her to a girls vacay," she starts, her tone still as sweet as it ever was. Instead of falling into a chasm where the shadows would take her friend, Genny extended a hand out to bridge that gap.[break][break]

Sure. Maybe it hurt to know Yuina wasn't real. But that was okay too. Beachboy didn't care who she was. Genny mirrored that sentiment.[break][break]

"You must have been hurting so much, holding everyone at a distance. I can only imagine." her eyes glossy, her lips curved up, her head tilts to the side, to get a better look at her.[break][break]

"But you're my friend. Whether your name is Yuina Higashi or not. That time together was real," she offers sweetness in her words.

The pain in her heart magnifies. "I rested. And so many were taken by the Megalopolans. So many are gone now," she laments, her eyes focused down to the ground as if to mourn those below.[break][break]

It was like her head was abuzz at the time. The alien threat made her constantly aware not once, but twice. To never take prisoner, to take a life. It brought with it its own weight and baggage, something she hated, but realized the necessity of. Truly, it was like a shackle to her ankle she could never shake.[break][break]

But to rest now? To let the world break into war, and set ablaze by the coming red 'R' on the horizon, was not an option. Love and peace cannot co-exist with hate and war.[break][break]

Her plea to have Genny rest broke her heart. Because the plea could not be answered. "So long as the snakes stay, no one can," the pain inside only twisted her words more.[break][break]

Their stride continued to the valley clearing, the twin blades coated in the waters, the beautiful Milotic reminds her of her own in Sasha. The redhead smiles their way, a reminder that Genevieve Cromwell wasn't lost. The sunshine smile moves to Desi with a turn of her head, and a quiet move of her eyes.[break][break]

"I can do that." Gram pokes out to the view of the blades, as Genny reaches for the other. She'd practiced a little in secret with her Honedge, but it was still better to practice fully with another. "The blades do?" she raises a brow to her taller friend, uncertain how that could be right. Or perhaps she meant the Milotic proper?

Beachboy would grin ear-to-ear, the little slug boy would jiggle as Yuina pet him, and with her explanation of his impossibility of being here, from Hisui, it has Genny pause. It's like...[break][break]

"Like you?" she asks without thinking.[break][break]

It's not so easy to ask that question. But her fascination with Hisui, their first meeting talking about her love of the culture, how out of place Yuina felt, it all compiled down to it. Yuina wasn't just a historian with a fascination, there was more to it.[break][break]

"The way you talk, Yuina, it's like you've been there. The way these Pokemon look at you too had me pondering it for a long time now. I'm not wrong... am I?" She didn't want to overstep her place. But how can Genny not want to know?

The lamppost freezes in place, letting the Rocket let go, allowing her to peel away from it, and when the child and Sewaddle look scared to death, Genny's footfalls were heavy, as she races towards the kid, and closing the distance. As soon as the kid was in safe hands, bug in hand, Genny got onto a knee, and ruffled his hair.[break][break]

"Run on home. Okay? It's not safe here," she shoots him a smile, and once the child was away... her demeanor changes. When Sylvia speaks...[break][break]

They're done?[break][break]

Confusion paints her face like a piece of art with no meaning, where an artist throws things together. It's like a puzzle, and trying to derive what the intention was when the piece was made. She passes though? It was as if the Rocket never intended to hurt anyone. All she wanted was... Genny.[break][break]

In the back of her head, she can feel the aftermath of the Megalopolan ship, in the deaths she caused by her hand, and how she was focused, almost frenzied by the toxic energy. And Sylvia asks why she didn't take advantage of the moment, and strike her. Why didn't she? The answer was simple.[break][break]

"You helped that kid. That's why," she explains, in short enough words. Words that irritate, perplex, and fascinate her. It makes her think of those Rockets that were in the organization for a real reason. Such as the scientific Rocket who was in because the League wouldn't embrace what she wanted (Lulu Flint), or the Rocket stuck due to debts from Dewford (howard slayte). Once again, her naivete clouded her eyes, and made her hesitate.[break][break]

Uzi would quietly push on next to her, whimpering quietly as he rubs his head to her leg, and the redhead stared on to the Rocket. "I don't understand you. What makes me so special? I'm just doing my job, why me?" she pleads, the gravitas in her voice, begging for an answer.[break][break]

"Why do you want a hero?"

The tail doesn't perfectly block the strike, and while it's shed to allow a cushion, while @penny came in for the speedy takedown. But the Claydol wasn't done. The moment it started its lasers, Genny's hand reflexively goes to her head. If the Claydol was going all out, so would she.[break][break]

As the rain cascades, her hair mats to her face. "You heard her Ille, Sherwood! Everything we got!" Her gloved hand rushes through her hair, revealing the Mega Earring, the green jewel inlaced within it.[break][break]

There was no time for hesitation. This was their debut, and all Genny could do was hope Sherwood could take it! She'd practiced with Venus, even with Ajax, but not with Sherwood. Surrounded in a rainbow orb, a flash of light, and the roar, Sherwood's body morphs to the Mega, the Dragon type inlaid upon her form, as the rain falls harder.[break][break]

illeana reyes's Vaporeon cleared the way with every HYDRO PUMP, and Eduardo Hisakawa's Tauros was paving the way forward. She could see it! "Follow Beau, and launch!" If all the lasers were following Beau to hit them, and the Vaporeon cleared the way...[break][break]

Then all they needed was one shot. They had to make it count.[break][break]

"Slice'em down!" As she charges, racing towards and near behind the Tauros, she would wait for the moments right before the WAVE CRASH, hopping upwards onto the bull, and throwing her whole body upwards, a cross of LEAF BLADES meant to cleave the Claydol down. Would it be enough?[break][break]

The warning from PENELOPE LIVY is not met on deaf ears; both gecko and Trainer act as one, without words, without thought, running on base instinct. The world slows down. Genny jumps upwards.[break][break]

"Tank it!"[break][break]

Sherwood spins around, slapping Genny backwards with her bushy tree tail as the rain cascades over them both. And in a moment, the big gecko fires out her tail again, a tree before herself, used to protect against the wrath of the Claydol in a SHED TAIL. The Claydol's eyes are on her and Genny. All Sherwood can do is ensure they hold fast.[break][break]

Genny's eyes are filled with fire.[break][break]

This had to be the end, and Genny would make sure of it. As the woman before her seemed so hellbent on Genny's very being as one of the things she was after, the little Ranger raises a brow in utter confusion. She was a hero who would save the region? From... her?[break][break]

"What are you talking about?" her genuine confusion rings out, uncertainty plagues her tone.[break][break]

There's something off about the elation, and it perplexes Genny enough to distract from the combat. The Grapploct would throw their limbs forward to smash into Rembrandt, the incurring shockwave would tear through the city streets, knocking vehicles over like a pickup, and it has Genny's lips curved into a frown, especially when the grappler becomes the grappled, leaving Genny grunting in a tizzy. Rembrandt was out cold, and Uzi alone stood against the Grapploct.[break][break]

Then the Rocket goes on about mercy, and the enemy that mercy was to Rocket. Had Sylvia had the malice, Genny would be dead. But it wasn't naivete, but the reformist inside of her. The blazing hazel eyes would never leave Sylvia.[break][break]

Even grunts though, cannot stop the lamppost, and Genny in a moment of utter fear, sees the kid and their Sewaddle. And her teeth grit. "Stop... NO-" she almost screams in chorus towards Sylvia, and in a moment of uncertainty...[break][break]

The Rocket saves them? The kid and their Sewaddle live? The hypocrisy in the air is palpable. By launching off of Genny, she would save the child and keep the lamppost from crushing them... at least, for the moment.[break][break]

Getting up, even as the dust of the fight settles, she doesn't hesitate. Recalling Rembrandt, Genny would race to the child, and order Uzi at once.[break][break]

"Aurora Beam. Ensure the Rocket is able to leave. Do not harm her, Uzi," though it pained Genny to say, this was one of the first Rockets who would openly save a child. The way the Rocket moved, Sylvia had gone and nearly gotten crushed herself. Genny wasn't going to give a cheap shot.[break][break]

While Uzi worked on the lamppost, Genny moved to get the kid and their Sewaddle out of there. "It's not safe here. Come with me," she relays, and grabs their hand, setting them to the sidewalk, away from danger.[break][break]

She doesn't say a word to Sylvia. In fact, still no cheap shots. "Our business isn't done."

The smile shared in tandem, the redhead waves cutely towards who was her little sister at this point. Well, as much as she could be without blood.[break][break]

Hearing that Eris got a good nap made Genny sigh longingly. "I miss naptime so much myself," she responds sheepishly, her shoulders sagging in a relaxed posture. "Not that I got much sleep though." Ranger work never ends, and training for a war never stops. Not a day.[break][break]

Beachboy's Pokeball bursts open, the Hisuian Sliggoo bursting out next to Genny and Eris both, as the dragon would bounce on their shell. Her and Akane respond in kind.[break][break]

"Shall we get moving? Looks like Beachboy is already ready to go."

Genny responds, Dashie was so playful and loving already. "She did. Little Ponyta back from her life in Galar. When I got to see her, she was an old Rapidash... I called her Tatter Trot a lot. Wasn't even her name." she smiles, the happy little memory pleasing to the mind. A memory of the simpler times, when good always triumphed over evil, where the good guys won. That sentiment was lost to time.[break][break]

Just as it was when Josh brought up kyle lopez. Genny's heart sank low into her stomach. Just this year, she challenged Kyle in the Vital City Tournament and lost spectactularly. Her face was hung low.[break][break]

She knew of it, but no details. Josh knew something more. "Swift was his Pokem-" she stops outright. Genny's eyes sag downwards. How many more people had to suffer? "How did he... go? If it's not too much to ask?" Josh had to know something. She had to step up herself.[break][break]

Her goal of wanting to defeat Kyle was... never going to happen now.
