The ocean never felt so cold. Maybe that was the prickling hail, that cut at her cheeks, or ripped at her Ranger gear, but no matter what it was, Genny's hazel eyes looked on with fierce conviction.[break][break]

If all that sat in front of them was a Walrein and a Vaporeon, they'd find a way to win.[break][break]

Hazel hoisted himself onto his feet, barely able to stay standing. Guardian stuck inside of Genny. Her guardian, literally. With fear providing her her courage, she looks to the Vaporeon, who would fire the blue energy towards Genny. To Guardian, specifically. And Genny held her arms up. Ready to keep Guardian safe, ready to keep him from gaining any harm.[break][break]

The eternal weakness of love, is that the more someone is loved, the more willing someone else will be to protect it. And as the ICE BEAM fires out, Genny prepares for that frigid touch, before the frost pierced into Hazel.[break][break]

And the Hazel falls to the ground, grabbing at himself. His chest was starting to freeze over... his heartbeat was lowering considerably... the Chespin did not cough blood.[break][break]

The little chipmunk turns to Genny and smiles, with a small flex. The frost combing over his body, the sound of crackling everpresent in the air.[break][break]

"Hazel..." A tear pushes down from her eye, as it began to move across her face... and Guardian fires off more to debilitate. A CONFUSE RAY meant for the Vaporeon.[break][break]

Guardian was burning with fury now. Genny steels herself. These Pokemon fought autonomously. They required no input, no control. Genny practiced control as much as she could, but it wasn't enough. Her eyes narrow at the field. For the wetsuit Rocket.[break][break]

Glaring.

Almost on cue, a little axolotl appears in the water, and with it, Genny giddily begins to hop up and down. The little mudfish throws a rock out, showcasing how her power is ancient. And with it...[break][break]

Genny immediately tosses one of her Safari Balls and dives into the water, intent to retrieve it. What a wonderful little moment she got to have.[break][break]

And as she watches the mudfish disappear, she cheers... realizing she let go of her breathing, and has to swim to the top of the lake, and coughs.[break][break]

"That's all of em... and one more ball... huh."[break][break]

What now?

Information on Rocket whereabouts? Yes please. After beating one Rocket man to a clear pulp and forking over some info, Genevieve had been running, hand to her right ear. Her comms were jammed. Meaning she had to do the legwork and sprint all the way towards a leader. A bigger positioned Ranger.[break][break]

Deciding not to go by sea this time, she'd keep inland, hellbent to get to her final destination, and the goal post she was searching for. If she could deliver this message, it could capture a good number of Rockets.[break][break]

Hopefully some like Cillian Quinn. Or that one in the wetsuit that she fought. His laugh still echoes in her mind.[break][break]

Can't think of what ifs right now.[break][break]

"Come in? This is Senior Ranger Cromwell, do you copy?"[break][break]

No dice.[break][break]

No chance no way. And unfortunately for Genny, life was about to get a helluva lot harder.

The shores of Route 105 were filled to the brim with conflict. Tiny duels that came off, as both sides would scramble for their own small victories. Or shy away in defeat.[break][break]

It was sometime after Genevieve had buried her dead. A small prayer for them. How many had to fall? No matter how many, she wouldn't be deterred.[break][break]

This was the only path.[break][break]

She had been exploring the cave system, fingers tracing along some of her Pokemon's gravesite. Here, Pokemon like Hazel would get the rest they deserved.[break][break]

She's not paying much mind to the entrance to the cave, or any side tunnels. She needed the moment.

If there was anyone she was happy to be near right now, that brought up the little Alola girl's spirits, it was Lammy. The boy next door, the best friend. And it really did feel like a return to form for her. Like flexing an old muscle that was rejuvenated.[break][break]

Nothing better now then enjoying the company of a good friend.[break][break]

"Not particularly. But getting pictures of them now will help the League later." She had already been taking pictures. Maybe they don't have a library in the grotto, but they had a library back home, and that was good enough for her.[break][break]

Lam's remark to Oz had the Rowlet caw, and fly in somersaults. "Yeah! He's been really energetic since I came back from the mecha kingdom with Cap'n Nikolaj." Oz caws again, spinning in the air, flying atop of Genny's head...[break][break]

And a familiar sight.[break][break]

"Is that him? Artichoke?" Had she been still a cadet, she'd have ran towards him for a hug, and triggered some kind of trap for sure. None such this time. She takes a stride forward, watching her feet, holding a hand out towards him.[break][break]

The glyphs merely radiate their light... weird how they do so...

It doesn't take long for Genevieve to find the mark, but the issue is... seeing people in pain, no matter their affiliation... soured her. War was bitter. War was a tragic friend who left her melancholic and nostalgic with a forgotten familiarity.[break][break]

Maybe it was the Kirlia who was busy healing away the pain that these people felt that inspired her to help. Even the enemy.[break][break]

Deciding to get out of hiding, she pulls something out of her knapsack. A first aid kit.[break][break]

The naivete of a girl who didn't want to hurt others, and bring a smile to everyone, weighing down on her in a moment of vulnerability. These people could turn on her, could kill her, take advantage of that vulnerability. But even then, Genevieve will think it was worth it. Because that's the kind of person she is.[break][break]

"Here."[break][break]

She holds a small bottle towards the masked Rocket. Painkillers. Nothing crazy or heavy duty, but something to take the edge off. "Medical-approved. Promise."

A pair of Rangers would be talking, speculation on the going-ons, that neither of them bothered to look. Neither would notice the Rocket in their midst, neither would care to think They covered each other's six, but who cared about their six together?[break][break]

"HEY!"[break][break]

The redhead calls out, waving towards the two Rangers, a sunny smile on her face, as she approaches the duo. An Impidimp hanging on her back like a backpack, as she gestures back the way she came. "Was told to get you both to come to camp. Don't worry, I'll scout out here."[break][break]

The two Rangers quietly thank Genny, before making their exit, leaving but one vulnerable girl, who was looking around, peeking around where she could. She doesn't seem to be paying much attention but-[break][break]

Rangers can be quite cunning.

Sitting under a tree, quietly snoring is the little Torchic, who wouldn't notice at all the redhead's approach onto his tiny little island in the little lakebed, and by the time Genny noticed him, she grinned ear to ear.[break][break]

Usually, Genny preferred a more friendly approach, but with a Safari Ball at the ready, she quiet rolls it like a small skeeball, throwing it and slapping the chicken's leg.[break][break]

The ball shakes, and he chuckles.[break][break]

"Just one more and I got 'em all."[break][break]

Speaking of which. Maybe her luck would see one appear?

Turning left, turning right, she is looking for any signs. Hazel eyes look for any potential person that's trying to stop her. She considers blazing a trail through by leaving a wall of flames behind but that might hurt the wildlife.[break][break]

She'd never willingly pull that.[break][break]

Only recently, did she deal with the one Rocket on the ship, the Sharpedo, the Walrein, the Vaporeon... she looked behind her...[break][break]

Which was when she heard the voice straight ahead, and her hazel eyes squinted. She'd never seen the guy before ever. He wore all black, and in the middle of war? Genny wasn't buying it. No chance. "Name and affiliation." She wasn't risking getting jumped. He was no Ranger, but maybe he was an officer?[break][break]

The naivete has her sweat. Everything in her said to break this guy's nose and run but she held steadfast. Little Akane squints.[break][break]

I don't have the time to arrest him if he isn't on the League's side. Her face is riddled in sweat.

This guy laughing was really starting to get to him, and the more he did it, the more Genny felt unnerved. Like standing off against a goliath. But unstoppable force would meet the immovable object, because Genny had no intention of letting him through, period.[break][break]

But as the Rocket fell to the sea, and Marina came in with a FLIP TURN, Genevieve saw the little Chespin thrown and rolling, tumbling onto the sand closer to herself. Bruised and beaten, battered and smacked around.[break][break]

Genevieve inhales. Calms the storm of her mind, and gets up on her two legs. "Hazel. Brace yourself. Guardian? Look ahead." The Chespin begins to speed up, kicking up dirt himself in a ROLLOUT, readying himself for something magnificent, as Guardian utilizes FUTURE SIGHT on the Walrein, glowing eye from Genny's stomach.[break][break]

"Okay, we just have to-"[break][break]

Vaporeon. Oh no, what were they-[break][break]

Her head cranes to the side, and with it comes the muddy turbulent water, knocking Genevieve off balance, and Guardian going with her, tumbling to stay at her side. But Hazel was a ballsy little guy. He attempted to hop atop of the water, skipping like a pebble, and trying to reach the Walrein.[break][break]

Only to come up short just a shy ten feet, falling into the muddy water and thrown backwards.[break][break]

Despite this, she forces herself up again. Tenacity driving her. She was outmatched, outgunned. But she'd make an all out stand if she had to. "That all you got? I'm barely breaking a sweat." She wasn't good at lying, but courage overrode most of her fears. She was either brave or stupid. Even if her hair was covered in mud, or cuts and bruises from being thrown around, she wasn't letting this guy get past her.

A small gecko pulls up nearby. A Treecko, and one that Genevieve notices right away. Holding the slightly bitten piece of bread out, she offers out. "Stick around and get some if you want." The little Treecko begins to nibble.[break][break]

The Safari Ball is quick. But once the Treecko finishes the small bite it took, Genny offers the Treecko a choice. Enter in, come with her, or go back to the wild.[break][break]

"Your choice."[break][break]

The Treecko ponders for a moment, sniffing at the Safari Ball... and pokes her nose at the orb. With it, she disappears, and Genevieve smiles.[break][break]

"Okay. Some light exercise time." Starting to undress, she hops into the water in her swimwear, beginning to do cardio around the pool itself.

Here in the Safari Zone, Genevieve found herself today. A quiet journey she wanted to make, and a morning jog. Thanks to her time with Shion Uehara, she got into a morning routine. She had started cleaning her life up. And... that memory was just a dream.[break][break]

She'd been grown up, fighting an army with a bow. What even was that that she believed back then? Every time she looked at this arrowhead though, she felt... sad. A melancholy that hung on her. But then she began to smile.[break][break]

They fought so you can live another day.[break][break]

Her left eye sheds a tear. And she brightens up.[break][break]

So where are we now? A waterfall in the small little Safari Zone space. Tying her hair up, she pulls from her little knapsack a small bread roll, and begins to eat it. And looks at the arrowhead.[break][break]

Nothing but the sounds of the waterfall in her ears...
