It's agony, realizing her type is big buff guys and powerful women, but it makes it all the worse when Ollie tells her it's okay. That he wante dto get her home okay, and her face puffed scarlet, her hazel eyes looking down. Her heart wanted to beat harder, but the drinks in her system were making it difficult. They should depress her.[break][break]

Her chest burns. Her cheeks are hot. Her whole demeanor is nerves-wracking on nerves-wracking on nerves.[break][break]

"I's close... set to... mo'e to Lilycove ne'st week... d-down the street."[break][break]

He cared enough to get her okay. She tightens her grip. She doesn't want to let go... this cold, this permafrost that was all around, her independence crumbles to dust. She'll forget this tomorrow.[break][break]

... just tonight.[break][break]

Just tonight she wants someone there in her corner. She doesn't want to be alone tonight.[break][break]

"D... Do y'u... wanna stay an' watch movies?" She begins to brush at her hair a little, unable to look him in the eye. Her heart is beating too quickly. Too fast.

Like the wind, Genny's legs moved, returning Ebony with a fast movement the moment she sped back with a NIGHT SLASH, all as she approached the steel snake and, by help of Nikolaj, grabs back onto the Steelix, reaching over to help the older gentleman back out, as two STEAM ERUPTIONs fired out at them, missed thanks to distance.[break][break]

"Thanks, Cap'n!" She grins, hoping to get her to safety now, an expression filled to the brim with gratitude for the save, as they made their escape... a song filling the air on their exit...[break][break]

Genny took a moment to stare back, as they continued pushing through the distance, her face a mix of displeasure and discomfort.[break][break]

Guess this will have to go into the report.

She was sniffling now. Why did he have to be so sweet AND hot?! This wasn't fair! She was going to become a crying drunk at this rate, and her hazel eyes were already watering.[break][break]

Without resistance, Genny goes with, trying not to think about it. She must have a thing for muscles, it was helping to calm her down.[break][break]

But him caring about her really was such a sweet thing... a hand outreached to her, to melt that frost away.[break][break]

"T-Than-y'u, Ollie..." She pushes closer towards Ollie, still sniffling. She was a mess right now. Partially the drunk part, but the other part embarassed that someone like Ollie saw her this low, saw her when she was so close to sabotaging her career. She was partially covering her face now.[break][break]

"Sorry y'ur see'n me like this." A little slurred in her speech still, but she tries to hide away.[break][break]

Why did it have to be Ollie?[break][break]

It'd only be worse if it were Caleb. Or both.

Lam says something only Lammy could. Genny turns to face him a moment. How she doesn't have to be alone; the feeling of loneliness over twenty years freezing her heart over. It's a little selfish, but when she tries to smile to him... it's halted.[break][break]

The glare towards the Iron Hands is frigid as her heart, as the beast rumbles. Thankfully, Lam throws out Scovillan and Altaria, ready to go. Now, if Lam were late now, that'd be an issue. He truly didn't do anything wrong.[break][break]

"Negative, no pink mist around. It's natural." Which meant, it had something to do with the cave... the crystals? That was a possibility. Why was it metallic, no less?[break][break]

A far cry stranger than she wanted, Habanero comes in with the FLAMETHROWER, and with an order to Zag. "Lyssa maneuver." With that, the Growlithe plants his paws, and engulfs in flames. RAGING FURY to add to it, slamming head first into the mechanical foe.[break][break]

But Genny knows better than to assume this is it, even with the super effective strikes. The Iron Hands throws a duo of THUNDER PUNCHES, charged by the ELECTRIC TERRAIN at Habanero and Zagreus, both massive hands intent to paralyze and break them with sheer power.[break][break]

Genny responds in kind. "It's going to charge even more. We need to finish it sooner over later."[break][break]

The Iron Hands, in retaliation, utilizes a moment of free space to power up with BELLY DRUM. The electricity beginning to splinter upwards like a column of pure voltage.[break][break]

It's more of a guess than anything. A higher likelihood of him holding back to keep her safe. Based on his rank alone, being a Captain and all, he would outpace her easy, so that Garchomp could easily throw down harder than she trained. That didn't mean Genny was anyone to scoff at though. Quite the contrary.[break][break]

She was only getting started.[break][break]

With her shorter orange-red hair blowing side to side to the sandstorm, Genny puts an arm over her face to keep it safe from the blowing sand stream. She could feel the cuts over her legs, a cut over her cheek, and Frosty fared little better. They were on a time limit. Last until the Garchomp was out of juice, see where they went from there.[break][break]

The fun part about a non-League-sanctioned struggle, was that rules didn't apply in the same way. With Frosty's slam of a WOOD HAMMER, and Niko's Garchomp making a powerful BULLDOZE, it felt like they had the duo on the ropes... until both Volcanion fired back.[break][break]

The one by Garchomp did, as the previous one did before, rapid vaporization turning into a strike of STEAM ERUPTION to fire point blank, and on the other end, almost like clockwork, it sounded as if the Volcanion that Frosty was near was the victim of a very nasty OVERHEAT.[break][break]

Unfortunately for them, Frosty could only take the one. Grass and Ice are very susceptible to the burning mass of steam that is the soulless beasts here.[break][break]

Biting her lip, a juggle of a Pokeball, and Genny returns to the field her damaged Absol, Ebony after returning Frosty, but with it, comes her order again.[break][break]

"Pelian maneuver." With it, the NIGHT SLASH attempting to strike through the powerful Volcanion, but to no avail despite the damage.[break][break]

Another cut on her cheek. Captain Niko and his Garchomp truly were amazing.[break][break]

She turns towards Niko. "How you doin, Cap'n?" Genny was down one in a half in a few short moments. This was draining her resources, and fast. But at least these seemed to be the only monsters on the field. If they just take'em down, they can check inside the castle. Just a little bit. A little recon.[break][break]

Her face is red by the time she realized she had been singing under her breath. Hazel eyes trail down towards the path in front of them. To the left, to the right, carnival games, carnival food, carnival everything. And now, to some degree, she was flourishing. Just a little. Enveloped in warmth, she closes her eyes and basks in the rays of sunlight they had left.[break][break]

"It's alright..."[break][break]

The power of overcoming trauma truly was a blessing.[break][break]

Izzy pops the idea of food, and Genny's hazel eyes zoom over to him, and she ponders what she might like. "Hm... okay. Sure. You gotta pick something good, or else I might leave." She jests of course, she couldn't leave the guy dateless. But, scooping her arm into his, friends being friends, she gestures out.[break][break]

"After you. Let's see if you can guess my tastebuds. Careful though, I'm Galar-born and Alola-raised." A complicated mish-mash of culture that was sure to give Isaac some trouble in decisions.[break][break]

But he could find something, couldn't he?

What did he mean? He came for her? As he grasps her elbow to stabilize her, she tries to focus her gaze on the double-triple vision Ollie, squinting her eyes and furrowing her brows.[break][break]

The last mission really messed with her. Sure, he came here to help her, but the moment he was out of earshot, she wouldn't matter. Her facial expression shows as much.[break][break]

"Why?"[break][break]

It's one word, but in that, Genny is actually tearing up, makeup starting to get a bit runny, as she rubs her arm over her eyes, and gives Ollie a pouty look.[break][break]

She's definitely not staring at his chest or anything. Not at all. Liquid courage, help her now.

It's that reliability that Genevieve admired so much. She looked upon Paxton like a student would their mentor, knowing their naivety, knowing their flaws, and knowing all that and still ready to learn. She was smart, she knew that much. So when Paxton agreed to swap info if he covered more missions, she jumps up so excitedly.[break][break]

"YES! You won't be sorry, Off-... Paxton!" Her grin was ear-to-ear, teeth showing fully, as the wind blew her orange-red hair around, the length pushing into her face, as her hazel eyes turn to look towards where the wind blew from.[break][break]

The business card in hand... Genny reaches up to grab the card, and holds it with both hands, before moving to grab his hand to shake it.[break][break]

"I'll be the hardest worker you'll ever find. That's a promise."[break][break]

A promise, that she would fail to keep at first... but one day, she would defy even her own expectations.

Yeah... one thing Genny learned, is that when the universe decides it wants to punch down, it relentlessly finds a way to pile it on. For Genny, that was the Galar mission. It just wouldn't stop. But she was done letting it affect her negatively; she put that negative energy elsewhere.[break][break]

Izzy's proclamation at flipping the bird to Arceus made her smile. It what she needed to hear. "No kidding." She was quiet, speaking less, but she still looked better than the last time her and Izzy talked.[break][break]

Much.[break][break]

She doesn't buy it in the slightest when he jokes about the mirror, but she lets him think, for a moment, that she does. She smiles wider, definitely better than the alcoholic she left behind. A thanks meant for one of her big inspirations (ollie morales).[break][break]

"My, Izzy. I can't believe" She's grinning, a sweet, sunny smile, as she takes a few steps forward, now lingering closer to the exit.[break][break]

The fair was fun...? She didn't have time for fun anymore. It was then, that Genny could finally breathe. Her shoulders lowering, and an exhale to let Isaac know she was finally feeling relaxed. She actually felt unbalanced. Her body moved to and fro, and her exhaustion started catching up. How little did she sleep last night?[break][break]

Too little.[break][break]

It was a nice break. Just an hour, then maybe she could go rest. "Yeah. A break." Those bags under her eyes were awful.[break][break]

The sun was... nice. She took a moment to just... stare out to the fair. She could finally...[break][break]

With a smile in return, she decides to take the initiative. Instead of pointing it out, she begins to sing a tune under her breath. "Here comes the sun... do-do do-do... here comes the sun and I say..."[break][break]

It's alright. The sunshine is coming back.

Cap'n Niko releases out that Garchomp, and with it, Genny has the same thought process. It must be a FIRE type, right? As the landshark rushes up to bite, Genny pauses and watches the battle. The monstrosity would scream in agony at the BITE. But it wasn't knocking it down for the count. In fact, a point-blank SCALD-[break][break]

Niko took the words out of her mouth. "Then we should watch out for potential steam if it can rapidly vaporize water." Genny is quick on the uptake, and hops off of the Steelix, landing with a tuck-and-roll.[break][break]

Dark wasn't the most effective, and unfortunately her best choice, right now, was Frosty. "Ebony, Trojan maneuver!" With it, she pulled another two Pokeballs, the first one rolled out, as Ebony sped over top of the rolling ball, intent to mess with the Volcanion's perception. It was working too, as the Double Team from earlier helped Ebony stave off the brunt of the damage from the first Volcanion's STEAM ERUPTION, an immediate frustrated noise beeping from the mechanical beast.[break][break]

The second Pokeball, using the same hand with a little fancy fingerwork in their small forms, returns the Absol as the Pokeball that would have been below her erupts at the moment needed, into Frosty the shiny Abomasnow.[break][break]

"Cap'n, go all out. We can take it." She quickly returns Oz, and points towards her Abomasnow.[break][break]

"Pelian maneuver, Frosty." The Abomasnow puts its arms together, and slams the everliving heck out of the first Volcanion, the beast roaring to life. She felt proud that she could make such a good strong first impression... but Genny knew better than to toot her own horn right now. Fight was going on, and Fire was not Frosty's favorite typing.[break][break]

This was going to be a hard fought battle.[break][break]
