Perhaps if she had more interest in Rocket's history she might have recognized that name, the member of the DRK Triad who tormented them so. But as things were it was simply another name, meaningless taunting of a girl who couldn't possibly care less.

Xenon doesn't even bother to pick the device up off of the table once she's finished fixing it, leaving it behind just like she left everything else behind, standing and turning to walk back out of this shed that was once her home. "He's waiting for us. Declan Walsh. I can feel it now, today I will find victory. Today I will surpass that man."

With the acquisition of the so called "Violet Book", a new portion of the simulated universe had been unlocked for Rocket's perusal, as well as additional scenarios in the ESSE EST PERCIPI section that they had yet to fully map from the first Seal Stone. Naturally it had been a matter of course for Xenon to gravitate towards the new instead of lingering on that which she had already gone through, electing to be one of the first to dive into the Violet Book's depths alongside Howard.

And of course a new world meant a new start for herself, though perhaps not a total reinvention of herself for now. The girl looks in the mirror as she wakes up that day within the Rocket submarine, quietly taking off her cosmetic glasses and studying her face. "Hm... lets restyle the hair. Go for a softer look in the facial features. Wardrobe change. Yeah, this will work." Xenon mutters as she picks up a pair of scissors and begins trimming her hair, parting it to the side as she practices her facial expressions. Being harsh and forceful was acting as a barrier to further ascension through Rocket's ranks at this point, she needed to grow as a person if she was to make the connections she needed to rise to power now.

"Alright so, the Violet Book produced some legendaries from Ancient Galar, or at least the version of Ancient Galar we were in. It's got a picture of a Cyclizar on it. And it has some sort of connection to Power Spots? Does that about cover everything?" She didn't actually care how Howard responded to that, she just knew that the guy liked to feel like he was in control of something and was giving him a little opportunity to do just that while Xenon ran some last minute calculations through her head. They were diving into unknown territory here, which meant she needed to bring her A game team with her, all Ultramodern Paradoxes plus her loyal partner hidden in her shadow. For a moment she considered delaying to send for her Unown to be brought with her as well, but that kind of chaotic energy would make for a substandard baseline if it affected the simulation in any way.

Alright yeah, looks like they were all going to be as ready as they ever could be. Once the admin had finished saying everything he needed to say, Xenon raises her arm up and signals for the engineers to start the test up, machines humming to life as blue lights illuminate the room and swallow their bodies into the digital realm. Lines of code stream through her mind as they delve into the simulated universe and the pages of the Violet Book, a peculiar feeling tugs at her soul as the hairs on the back of her neck rise. So they were going to be diving headfirst into danger then? She cannot help the light tilt of her lips up as she stretches her arms out and grabs hold, nothing more exciting than a chase.

And just like that they were in the thick of it, the two Rocket members riding on jet powered Cyclizars through a cyberpunk future, a horde of Genesect screeching from behind firing their Techno Blasts at the fleeing criminals. "Hah. Haha. Hahaha! How exhilarating, it seems as though this new portion of the System has resonated with my soul!" Xenon cheers as she clutches tightly to her Cyclizar, eyes darting in every direction as she's utterly overwhelmed by the neon lights shining down on her.

[attr="class","itemcoltext"]You find yourself far into the future. You are unsure whether you are in Hoenn or some other region, but you do know you are on the back of a Cyclizar fitted with a jet seat. Around you, neon-lit skyscrapers tower amongst blinding holographic billboards.[break][break]

Suddenly, a sirens ring behind you. For whatever reason, the law is after you. And they are after you on Genesect. They fire TECHNO BLASTS toward you as you jet past cars and augmented passersby.[break][break]

The battle with Declan is just as prolonged and annoying as it was the last time, even with prior knowledge of what his moves would be she still sustains injury just from how damn fast he is. When time is finally up both she and her beloved Rhodium are covered in cuts and dents respectively, minor cosmetic injuries for the most part, but something that could snowball if the next portion of the simulation proved especially dangerous. The only fortune that Xenon and Marilyn could count in this moment was that the unflinching boss of Rocket had focused his attention on Xenon primarily since the old hag was only following her, meaning that Marilyn would be going into whatever came next entirely fresh.

"Yeah, he's just as annoying as ever. I haven't met him in the "real world" yet, but I imagine I might feel some bit of irritation when I look him in the eye for the first time after all the times I've lost to this bastard in here." Maybe it was rude to speak ill of her boss, but she quite honestly didn't give a fuck. Next time she came in here she would be sure to plaster this bastard's brains across the stupid invisible walls.

The SPECTRA trials were all but forgotten for the young(?) woman who pursued the future so vigorously, it had been fun to kill a god but ultimately nothing had come of it. It was just another past experience to be shaken off, a pointless dalliance that only served to exhibit her talents to those upper echelons who could not bare to dirty their hands by coming down from their ivory towers. A meaningless assessment that only further padded papers that would be shuffled around for years to come.

"I dislike ruins. History. The past is best left buried in favor of what comes next." Xenon remarks as she takes out her phone, a similar buzzing noise emanating from her speakers in unison with Naomi's. The song was foreign yet familiar, dissonant yet beautiful, a gross fusion of extremes that shouldn't be possible to create. The scientist appreciated it in its groundbreaking nature, it was very ultramodern to break established conventions without care for the laws of reality.

But their siren song was not what Xenon was here to study, her interest lied in Naomi herself. "I believe we should start with a simple test to establish the baseline of your power within this simulated universe. So... why not start by painting this drab corridor of rock and shadow into something a bit more ultramodern?" This was the place where Naomi had first established her connection to the Unown, even if this was not "proper reality" her powers should be available to her within this world. And if they were not, than that too is an worthwhile piece of data worth establishing in this experiment.

"Research Log 995: Beginning now. There are many questions to be considered regarding our ever shifting future, what steps we must take to find the correct path leading to the ideal, the shape of the future we seek, etc etc. But today I do not concern myself with these immaterial and philosophical quandaries, for there is a much more pressing question on the table before us today." Xenon sets her recorder down on a lab tray next to her tools and begins fitting a pair of welding gloves to her hands, before continuing.

"What is the future made of? Its shell is steel and titanium, but what of its innards? What would we find inside the future we've taken a peek at? Today I'll be conducting a joint experiment with Head Scientist Tempest Quinn, who has seen fit to provide us with the corpses of an Ultramodern Paradox, as well as a more primitive Paradox that he will be dissecting today. From this point on all conversation will be between myself and Researcher Quinn unless specifically noted otherwise." With gloves nice and tight, she turns to the aforementioned corpses lying before her and Tempest and begins to look for a point of egress where she can start cutting.

"I still don't see why you see any value in that husk of flesh and blood, we left behind worthless evolutionary failures like those for a reason."

It was only a matter of time until she returned here, to the place where it all began. At least this is where she considered the beginning of her new life to be, everything before she had entered this alien realm was like a hazy dream happening to another person. It was all meaningless before this day in this realm, the place where she had found the first step towards the ideal future she craved, before she took that first deep breath of the vision that clouded this world.

Xenon's past hides in her shadow as she walks through the passages of Granite Cave, retracing old steps unconsciously as she makes her way towards the Ultra Deep Sea. Chasing down little bursts of Interdream Mist where she could find it wasn't enough for her research anymore, her work demanded more Paradox Pokemon, fresher parts, and this would be the only place where she could access it directly. The ideal would be to bring a whole squadron of Grunts to take Dewford over for her own purposes, but that was shortsighted at best without the proper supply lines to ensure she could keep Dewford for any sustained period of time.

So instead she approaches the portal to the Ultra Deep, seemingly alone save for the five Pokeballs on her belt. The back of her neck tingles, but she knows exactly why as she stares down the sheriff of Dewford standing before the entrance to her dreams. A lot had changed since they last met, she was a proper Executive of Rocket, he was in the running for Elite Four status from what she heard from her League contacts. Yet even despite that, she smiles as she greets that foolish young man she met on the path to the future, the first one to bare witness to her rebirth.

Xenon claps once and nods with a saccharine smile, this was a man who understood her well! "It's no wonder you're an Underboss huh, you already know exactly what the deal is huh?" Those ancient Paradoxes, those things that held no interest for her, there was no point in bringing them out and studying their flesh and blood. They were adapted for a past that held no value, even the thought of them disgusted her on every level.

"Alright, let's start the pitch! For right now my focus is purely on understanding these Ultramodern Paradoxes and their composition, these are a wholly new type of species that have never been seen before and there's no practical knowledge on their existence. But we're Team Rocket, we aren't trying to understand them purely for the sake of knowledge, no matter how valuable that knowledge is. My end goal is to learn how these guys are built so we can eventually produce them on our own terms, a whole army of robotic Pokemon that could crush the League into little itty bitty pieces of dust, no worries about the value of life or running out of firepower!" She throws her hands up in the air as she cheers, a rather cavalier attitude towards what was in essence working towards the violent takeover of the region via killer robots.

She's not wholly lost in her thoughts, the comment from Calpurnia invokes a little grin as she continues her work on the little doodad. But the infamous banter she slung about was muted, the Xenon she was now was a wholly different beast from the Xenon that many knew.

Xenon shakes her head, not her first time. "Was here twice before. Once in the simulation, another time..." She trails off, lost in the memories of a time before. An unimportant time, the time that shaped who she was. "Another time, a while ago. Doesn't really matter." The scientist reaches out and plucks the screw from her hand, fitting it into its proper place and tightening the bolt. "Most dives in I find myself starting in a cave where a thousand thousand Unown whisper to me of secrets of the universe I can never remember. Quite frustrating, even the Avatar of those creatures was unable to hold that forbidden knowledge long enough to record it."

The machine is wholly fixed as she finishes, leaving Xenon to put it down and finally look up at Calpurnia with an appraising eye. "You look like you're expecting something to happen right now. You shouldn't do that, expectations are one of the most pointless things you can hold."

Xenon rolls her eyes as Shred once again asks if they're done, and once again the answer remains the same. "We just barely got here. You know how much I hate repeating myself, I really feel like you're missing the importance of what exactly is happening here." She crouches down and digs her hand into a pile of half melted snow, packing it up into a neat little snowball and rising back up to her full height. "We're experiencing some incredibly exciting new changes in our region, its our job to better understand what's happening in our world and how we can work with these changes. Could you imagine the possibilities if we could artificially control the weather in these kinds of extreme biomes, we could terraform normally uninhabitable regions to be new bases of operations or even produce ideal conditions for Pokemon which could only reproduce in incredibly rare areas."

The scientist rears her hand back and throws the snowball full force at Shred, yet it barely even makes it half of the distance between them before it's abruptly evaporated into a boiling cloud of mist, dissolving into the air and leaving nothing behind. "We could also just use it to kill a whole lot of people we don't like. Isn't that a nice thought, killing a whole bunch of losers without even needing to put in any work? Just let the world do all the work for us."

The ground rumbles once more beneath their feet, rocks in the cavern shifting all around as the tumultuous volcano ingests another metric ton of falling snow. "Though I will say speaking purely as a person rather than a scientist, this is weird as fuck. Like I'm not an expert meteorologist, but nothing about what's going on here should be working. My working theory is that the space where the snow actually is linked to some completely different space somewhere in Hoenn, and in that other space there's bits of lava all over the ground."

The private lab of Executive Xenon Civitas Antheil could only be described as chaos, plain and simple. Documents are strewn about the floor haphazardly, a barely walkable trail present between papers present for Theo to go through as he approaches the scientist. Futuristic machines pace about carrying vials and motherboards, the personal Paradox Pokemon Xenon had acquired through her expeditions into the Interdream, all communicating with one another through clicks and electronic beeps whilst a lone Gengar floats around the ceiling trying to guide it all to little avail.

Xenon herself seemed to be operating on a dead Tyranitar in the middle of the lab, mumbling to herself about the similarities and differences between this modern Pokemon and its Ultramodern descendant which was standing nearby. Thankfully her assistant was much more on top of things as Argon floats down over her and pokes her forehead, her eyes snapping up and locking onto Theo as he greets her with his trademark impassivity. This was of course their first meeting, he had far more important things to do then meeting with random Executives, but she had heard tell of him from other gossiping Rockets.

"Ah, wonderful! Perfect perfect perfect, just the man I've been waiting for! Mr. Walsh!" Xenon extracts her arms from the dead Tyranitar's guts and starts to walk around the operating table, peeling her gloves off and tossing them in a nearby trash-

The Gengar floats in front of Xenon once more and shakes his head, crossing his little arms over one another in an X. "Not Walsh?" Another shake of the head. "Fiorelli?" One more shake of the head. "Beckett." A tired nod and he moves to the side. "Mr. Beckett! Amazing! I actually requested a meeting with basically every important person I could get a hold of, looks like you're the first one to make it down to my not so humble laboratory! Fantastic! Right this way, there's much to discuss and much to discover, let's see if we can do them at the same time! You brought your Ultramodern Paradox Pokemon right?" She doesn't even bother taking the path she herself had made as she tramples over the papers all over the floor, most of them old hypothesis she had hastily discarded and simply hadn't found the time to properly incinerate.
