Kouji had leapt back as she jumped forward, not allowing himself to get unbalanced by her strikes. He prepared a punch that sailed over her head, mistimed, was she faster? Or was he just slower? The moment his leg touched back on the floor and he recollected his stance.

It was then that he realized it, that she had taken his knife; where he kept his weapon, it wasn’t the one that held his megastone, no, this knife was far more important than that, it was the one that he had gotten back in that wartorn region.

His eyes narrowed, he bit back the howl of rage, and instead allowed his eyes to glower instead, his golden eyes seemed to shimmer between different emotions, his expressions shifted, before finally settling.

Insecurity, even as he had taken the decisive step without the decisive action.

Betrayal, for the lost trust that sat in her hand.

Rage, as he finally decided to act.

He dashed forward, his leg poised, ready to take the stab to it, but he would crush her wrist, it was a quarter roundhouse aimed towards the wall, his golden eyes narrowed for a moment as he pushed off with his back leg for even greater force.

It was brutal, the unmoving Gardevoir who moved in a line, as one; as a singularity, all sharing the same emotion, all communicating the same emotion to one another. It was a wave, just as everything had begun to go too well; it started as a subtle warp in the air, a connected synchronisation that connected every person.

Synchronize was an ability of an empath, almost wielded like a defence, a defence for one’s body and heart. Whether it was fear, poison, or their general emotions, it shared it to the one standing before them, to remind them of just what it was they were doing. Enemy and Ally, given one heart.

That was now pointed at the cruel attackers.

Kouji had been the closest, and so he felt it first, a knot so tight that it caused him to double over, it was like a wave that struck his core, and traversed outwards, sadness, fear…No, despair? It hadn’t been a feeling he had experienced before, but there were others in there too, ones he was familiar with.

That abyss in one’s chest upon losing a person, the knowledge you would never see them again, that they wouldn’t be by your side anymore. The coldness of a palm that would not feel the warmth again. He fell to his knees, it was a moment of weakness that caused him to clench his jaw so hard that his back teeth were about to crack.

He'd gotten over this, and yet...This was so overpowering.

”Is it ever really one? We came here to kill, and it sure ain’t fun.” The blood that dripped off his knife, stained his clothes, and the cries, a part of him almost felt for these pokemon and their trainers, the road that took them here, and how weak they were to deal with it.

”They’re appreciators, contest guys, kids.” It was a shrug, all he could offer as recompense. But the moment these Gardevoir recollected themselves, a collective like this could be troublesome. ”Get ready to use Assurance Bisharp.” He called just in case, but then again, the cold unfeeling chill of steel, the untouchable truth of dark, and the final resolution that was ghost, it was the natural counter to a collective such as these, the feeling, empaths that were Gardevoir.

Kouji didn’t put into words, but into actions instead, a series of strikes that were aimed at her; his all wasn’t at all into them, but he did strike. His brows were furrowed together in dense concentration, the sound of beeping got his attention, was that her Phone?

His strikes focused around that, to grab it rather than to strike at her. He didn’t want to deal with someone else, but the same couldn’t be said for Houndoom who was reaching the end of his rope, Luxray was becoming more and more aggressive.

”staying quiet doesn't mean you don't know, a traitor can't be let free, even if it's a kid.” It wasn’t his mission, just his personal “hobby”, he couldn’t help it. It was just a representation of his way of life, he couldn’t abate traitors, even if it was someone he considered a friend.

[attr="class","text"]Kouji ran a hand through his hair, another mission; but this time it was something that fit him properly, not making money, but hunting down traitors. With all that’s happened, he did need to blow off that steam, but he wasn’t sure whether he would get that chance, working with the man who had recruited him to Rocket, Admin Cross.

”Been a while Sir, hope your sleep was good.” There was a hint of a smirk on his face, that Galarian dream had been a mixed bag for everyone involved in it, and yet, at least for Kouji, it had been just what he had needed, even if it had only borne the fruits of resentment.

”The guy we got works in a city council now, insurance desk job.” He didn’t get it well, but he tried to understand. Supposedly things such as addresses and whatelse were important, information did flow to these towns, and more importantly, the administrative centres.

Too high grade, but he didn’t want to say that aloud, that was the old him, he’d try to understand now. ”So, we gonna tail him, or do we go straight to his house? He’s got a wife and kids.” A proper family man now, he’d done well for himself, but Kouji didn’t care; in fact it just made him feel even more annoyed with him.

It was the alley, their pokemon were still locked in combat, and yet; Kouji wasn’t sure how to answer that question really as she kicked herself free, he had to release on of her arms to block her kick.

It stung, it was that deceptive strength held in that small body, or was it just practice? One couldn’t tell, but Kouji focused on the arm with the phone. ”You’re a pain in the ass to find, you know that?” There came the vitirol, he wasn’t here to catch up with an old friend, but to get rid of a traitor.

”You left Rocket, you know what that means, don’t you?” Kouji said, his voice dropped a little; the excitement drained from his face. He didn’t drop a mask, but instead just made a realization.

He’d have to fight her, he’d have to beat her, and he’d have to kill her…

He had no qualms when it came to violence, kids, adults, you name it, for the sake of Rocket he could do anything. So, he pressed forward, convinced himself that this was just going to be more of the same.

The battle between Pokemon, it was a feral thing, tooth and claw rather than the mystical powers they were so inspired by. Houndoom was a pokemon that could hold his ground, but Luxray was a problem, it was a powerful pokemon that could take most down. Kouji had seen it, so he moved with more agency.

Kouji had said it as a joke, as he looked down at the kid he was dragging off, he wasn’t sure, he couldn’t tell, but it made more and more sense. Was he really capable of scaring Eris Halla? He didn’t have a clue, not really.

”Oi Eris, you’re not really scared are you? Of me?” He asked, surprise was tinged in his voice. He didn’t think he had changed that much, or maybe, was it that he never really knew Eris in the first place?

Kouji sighed, it was a long, deep sound that came from the very depths of his lungs; it rumbled for a moment before he put his hands on his hips. ”I can see that, you look like shit. I was just hoping against hope, y’know?” He said with some mirth before he allowed it to die in the dour atmosphere that took over the room.

”So your lil’ trip was pretty shitty huh? Or did something else happen while we were knocked out?” He was being nosy, he was aware of it; did he care really? He considered Tempest one of the very few people he could consider a friend, and he didn’t want to let that just burn.

Or was it just the fact he wished to speak of his own troubles, that he was trying hard to not seem depressed unlike other people? Kouji wasn’t sure, he couldn’t be sure, and so he didn’t speak his thoughts into life.
