While Topher took his turn at the rings, Camellia stood there dumbly looking at him. There was obvious tension there, and she could tell the attendant was growing a bit uncomfortable the longer they stayed.[break][break]

Not to mention the way her heart was beating felt like the TAUROS RODEO game she saw earlier, where someone had been thrashing about on a mechanical TAUROS trying to stay on its back. She was fighting to keep her head above the water as she processed her thoughts as quickly as she could.[break][break]

So, when he finished his round and seemed almost defeated and upset, Camellia grabbed his wrist. "Okay. We need to talk. Now."[break][break]

No was not an answer.[break][break]

She took him off to a private area, where some picnic tables were set up for people to eat at. Luckily, it seemed sparse enough, and she sat down, dragging him along with her. "I just... need you to clarify. What did you say?"[break][break]

Was Camellia giving him an out? To be honest, she wasn't quite sure herself. But, by the second, her mind was becoming made up.

Camellia felt her stomach twisting after they got off the ride, the sweet treat she'd eaten earlier threatening to come up until she managed to catch her breath. With a few sips of water, her stomach settled. She was more than happy to go to the DUOTRIO-RING-TOSS.[break][break]

She stepped up, holding the rings in her hands while giving Topher a wink. "I'm going to win one of those LINOONE plushies," she announced to him.[break][break]

At least, she was determined to. The first toss she made was perfect. The ring settled on the neck of the plastic DUGTRIO, earning her a few impressed sounds. The second landed spot on.[break][break]

The third, however, faltered, landing off on the ground. The attendant clicked his tongue. "Sorry! You can play again if you want, though."[break][break]

Camellia hardly even heard what he said, too busy turning around and looking at Topher with a confused look on her face.[break][break]

"What... did you... huh?"

Camellia stared at his face for a moment, watching the beaming smile break out across his lips. And despite all the filthy acts they'd just committed, despite what they were known for doing...[break][break]

It made her heart flutter. For a brief minute, she thought that something was wrong with her. But a sudden realization struck her. And she wasn't sure how she felt about it.[break][break]

Camellia did know one thing for certain: @topher had a beautiful smile, and she wanted to protect it at all cost.[break][break]

Her back ached as she followed him from the car, taking his hands readily as she stood up. The familiar ache would die away soon enough, especially as she began to walk. She refused to drop his hand as they walked toward the rollercoaster.[break][break]

"Really? Quite a shame. I wonder how they got the ground so clean..." she pondered, going along with his farce with a sly smirk quirking on her lips as soon as the kids in front of them abandoned ship. It looked like they were going over to play the DUGTRIO-RING-TOSS instead.[break][break]

"That was all a joke, right? Right?"[break][break]

Nevertheless, they sat front and center, and Camellia let out a more horrified scream in comparison to her male counterpart, who seemed to be having too much fun with this ride.

Camellia felt her back pressed back against the wall of the funhouse. The noises of shouts and giddy laughter was drown out by their desperate attempts to get closer to each other. If Topher wanted to take her right then and there, she'd be more than willing.[break][break]

However, the car was mentioned, and though it was a bit of a walk away, she nodded, pressing her lips against his one more time before departing. "Let's go, before I change my mind and let everyone else watch right now," she murmured against his mouth, withdrawing from him.[break][break]

They both had bitten into the forbidden fruit of Eden, and they were both forever sinners.[break][break]

It took a little bit to clean up, but they arrived back at the carnival after their tryst in the car. While Camellia attempted to smooth her hair back down, without her brush, it still looked a bit wild and frazzled from his wandering hands. Not that Topher could say much else himself.[break][break]

"Let's go ride that ride over there. The rollercoaster with the loops."[break][break]

The festival suddenly felt more fun and alive with him there, the twists and turns of the rollercoaster not making the feeling in her stomach compare to the butterflies she felt when he'd kissed her.

Camellia couldn't help the sly smirk that crawled across her lips, her hands resting over his thigh under the bar that buckled them in. Unfortunately for them, there really wasn't enough room for them to test the theory or give it a go. She could tease him, at the very least.[break][break]

Though as she opened her mouth to speak, the ride screeched to a halt. It startled her, but nothing startled her more than the sudden jerk of Topher's body thrown forcefully in her direction. So much for safety.[break][break]

But safety, the ride, none of it was on her mind when Camellia felt Topher's lips brush her own, even if it was ever so briefly on the corner of her mouth. Her face turned a furious red. "T-Topher—" she began.[break][break]

His mouth consumed her in a storm of desire. And while initially it startled her and made her want to reel in... fuck, she felt something inside of her snap like a tree branch. Soon enough, she was meeting his advances with equal fervor, her hands tugging at his hair to pull him as close as he could.[break][break]

Damn lap rail.[break][break]

Camellia growled, furiously grasping at his shirt and threatening to rip it into shreds off of his body. Until they were rudely interrupted at the ground. Her eyes whipped angrily to the ride operator, pupils blown wide as she opened her mouth to say a thing or two.[break][break]

Topher managed to burn out her fuse, though, and she hopped down while quickly latching her bra back together under her shirt. Then she grabbed his hand, yanking him forward.[break][break]

"Come on."

Camellia felt that strange feeling bubble up in her chest again, feeling her cheeks grow hot as they turned a bright pink color. So, she held the plushie, unsure of what to say to Topher.[break][break]

Besides, "thanks, Toph."[break][break]

They waited in the line, which was taking longer than she thought. So, while they waited, she tapped on his shoulder and held up her phone. "Smile."[break][break]

Camellia snapped a picture of the two of them, laughing a bit when she noticed a bit of powdered sugar on his cheek in the photo. "You got something there," she said, brushing it away before going back to her phone.[break][break]

She shared it to her social media, which she rarely used, with a caption of "no clowns here #funtasia" before putting away her phone. By the time it was uploaded, Topher was getting into the seat of their cart.[break][break]

"Stop moving it! I'm trying to get in!" Camellia scolded him, managing to finally sit beside him. The ride operator closed the door, and they made their way slowly up.

Camellia followed him to the dart booth, finishing the rest of her snack off and throwing away the trash as she came to his side. She watched with an impressed look on her lips as the first balloon popped, followed in succession by the second.[break][break]

However, when he'd dropped the dart, the attendant dove down and resurfaced with another dart. Except she noticed with a sharp eye that it was yellow, not blue like the other two had been. Her brow furrowed, and she watched...[break][break]

As the dart seemed to bounce off the last balloon. The exchange between Topher and the game attendant went unheard as she looked over the edge to the dart he'd just thrown. "Let me see that dart," she commanded with an outstretched hand.[break][break]

The attendant began to object, that she was not allowed to hold the darts unless she'd play. So, she just went over the stall and collected it anyway, attempting to just stab the balloon with it. And it didn't pop. "What a fraud. Handing out dull darts to save your prizes," she said with a glare.[break][break]

Hopping back over the stall, Camellia heard the man curse at her and tell her not to come back to his stall again. "Gladly." Though she was already taken by the wrist and led away by her male counterpart, who offered her the plush LITWICK.[break][break]

"Me? But you won it, right?" Camellia stuttered, though it was held close to her chest as she allowed Topher to drag her away to the Ferris wheel. She nodded, softening past the icy display she'd given to the attendant moments before.[break][break]

The carnival that graced the residents of Lilycove was rather impressive. It reminded Camellia of the carnivals they'd have back in Kalos, with games, rides, and even the circus acts. She quietly observed their surroundings before making it known to @topher.[break][break]

"Doesn't this remind you of Kalos a bit? Minus the clowns. I haven't seen one of those yet," she commented, grimacing at the thought.[break][break]

Who's idea was it to dress someone in a bright outfit and extreme makeup for entertainment? It was rather creepy. She was sure she'd seen more children cry over clowns than smile.[break][break]

In her hands, she carried a funnel cake topped with ice cream. She normally didn't have a sweet tooth, but she wanted to try out some sort of fair snack for the hell of it. And ice cream was a nice touch for the heat of the day. She scooped a bit into her mouth before extending it out for Topher to try.[break][break]

"Where to first, Trois? Anything suit your fancy?"

Camellia couldn't help but laugh. It was a genuine one, full of mirth. Perhaps @topher had a point. They were them. Nothing else had to matter besides that. So why put a label on it?[break][break]

They weren't the type for labels.[break][break]

"You're right. You're pretty damn smart when you're not thinking with your dick," she teased him, holding onto his hand as he inched closer to her.[break][break]

Camellia held his gaze unflinchingly, her own trailing downward to his lips as his eyes looked toward hers. They were close. So close, she could almost feel his breath upon her lips. It was tempting to meet him there. So the question was, what held her back?[break][break]

What held him back, as he departed and rested his forehead to hers?[break][break]

There was an aching disappointment in her chest, but she did her best to ignore it. Instead, she closed her eyes and hummed softly, giving his hand a small squeeze.[break][break]

Camellia was gone as soon as he said yes, at his beck and call. And in a matter of moments, she returned with the water. She sat back on the bed as he drank, though this time she was a little bit closer to him. She still gave him his space, but there wasn't as much distance this time.[break][break]

She sat with her legs crossed, allowing him to take his time. Though, she began to interrupt him. "Topher, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to. You don't owe me any explanation," she insisted, her gaze coming to fall on him.[break][break]

This wasn't the man she knew. He seemed so broken and defeated. Whatever he'd gone through before, as he continued on to speak to her, it affected him deeply to this day. And it hurt Camellia to see him like that.[break][break]

There was also a pit of anger blossoming in her chest again. Now, she was absolutely determined to kill that man at the bar.[break][break]

There was a sigh through her nose, and her eyes trailed back to the balcony. She could hear birds chirping outside, a few Pokemon making noises on the ground below. As if nothing happened. She placed her hand closer to him, not touching him but a silent offer if he wanted to take it.[break][break]

"I'm not good at this... comforting people or making them feel better. I've been trained to destroy and kill. That's what I'm good at doing." How many times had she broken someone's heart because they'd fallen for her, and she didn't feel the same way?[break][break]

Topher was different. She just didn't know how to convey that.[break][break]

"I won't forget you, Toph. I'm sorry I hurt you. And ignored you. If I was there, this wouldn't have happened." Camellia paused, swallowing her pride. "You and I are partners, and I should've been there, despite our disagreement."[break][break]

She leaned back, her head hitting the wall. "What are we?" she echoed a question that he'd once asked.

Camellia flinched, pulling her hand back like she'd touched fire. It wasn't like someone, anyone, to startle her and bring so much shame and fear in her heart.[break][break]

Seeing @topher sobbing and looking at her like she was some sort of monster, even if she wasn't the one his fear was directed to, made her blood run cold. Truly, she had no idea what to do but sit back, offering him space as she scooted to the foot of the bed.[break][break]

And while he took his time to calm down, she didn't look at him. Camellia was silent, her small hunting knife coming in her hands to dig under her nails idly to give her something to do. Because she couldn't stand just sitting there in silence.[break][break]

Her teeth bit into her cheek, perhaps a bit aggressively as she tasted a metallic tang on her tongue. "I did."[break][break]

Her gaze looked over her blade, down to the wooden handle. She didn't know how to navigate this. And with his reaction to her earlier... she wasn't sure she wanted to find out how to navigate it.[break][break]

"My apartment. I was letting you sleep it off while I took care of a few things," Camellia mumbled, flipping the blade back against the handle, shutting it. She tossed it to the floor, leaning against the wall her bed was pressed against while remaining at the very end.[break][break]

Still refusing to make eye contact.[break][break]

"Do you want some water?"

The man holding @topher had no idea what was coming for him. He'd messed with the wrong person and the wrong group. And since Camellia had rested her gaze on him...[break][break]

Well, now it would at least be simple enough for her to begin to track him down and pay for the crimes he'd committed.[break][break]

"I suggest you leave now before I decide to end you right here and now," the assassin growled, her hand beginning to drift to her hip. He didn't know what was there.[break][break]

And he'd live for another day, until she caught up to him.[break][break]

Dragging an unconscious body was definitely going to raise suspicions through the security cams in her apartment building. But Camellia had decided to take Topher there rather than her room at the REVOCS headquarters due to a few reasons: her room there was storage primarily. She valued her privacy.[break][break]

And she did not want to run into another number or Minuit and explain why she was carrying an unconscious and drugged Trois back to HQ.[break][break]

So she hacked into the security system to her building, removing the proof of her suspicious behavior and smoking another pack of cigarettes angrily. Camellia's blood was still boiling even after hours of the event happening.[break][break]

She gave Topher her bed, sitting on her balcony to avoid stinking the room, as she furiously typed to research that individual with him. Thinking of all the ways she could torture him and make him suffer before going to meet his maker. Until she heard stirring, and panicked breathing.[break][break]

Camellia almost left her cigarette burning, hastily putting it out as she hurried back to her bedroom. She found him, anxiously looking around and panicking, unable to find his phone and keys that were just inches away on the nightstand.[break][break]

"Topher, breathe. It's me. I'm here," she said softly as if he was a wounded animal, hesitantly to come and sit on the bed and touch his arm. Guilt flooded her, wiping away the anger that had been burning through her veins. "Se calmer. Je suis la (Calm down. I'm here). Camellia."

Camellia sat in her room, a window cracked as she huffed and puffed on cigarette number... well, honestly, she had no idea how many she'd lit at that point. Charred butts were extinguished and scattered across the ash tray, some laying abandoned on the floor as she stared ahead blankly at the TV.[break][break]

She was comprehending nothing as the news in Kalos went on and on. Her knees were pulled up to her chest as she leaned back against the bed, sitting on the floor seething.[break][break]

Why the hell was she still mad? That fight happened hours ago. It didn't fucking matter! And why was @topher so upset that she'd been sleeping with someone besides him? Wasn't that apart of their arrangement?[break][break]

They weren't a couple. There was nothing more than friends with benefits going on between them. This was stupid.[break][break]

A vibration went off on the floor, the screen of her phone lighting up with a message. Camellia's eyes drifted over, spotting his name on the message. She scoffed, rolling her eyes and refusing to even pick up her phone as she light another cigarette.[break][break]

However, moments later, her phone began to buzz again. This time, a phone call. TOPH 💦🍆 lit up the screen. Camellia let out an aggravated groan, snatching it from the ground and putting it to her ear.[break][break]

"What part of me ignoring your texts do you not understand—" she began to bark at him, only interrupted when she heard his slurs across the line.[break][break]

BEEP BEEP BEEP.[break][break]

That was enough to change her mind. In no time, Camellia was hunting down his location, the bar she was supposed to meet him at for their mission, and storming in like a mad bull.
