the defector's reputation rose above everything else. he may have done something else, but current drama always overshadows whatever it was built up by the individual.

the trend will die soon, but for now, it was the first thing that comes to mind when he hears the surname.

"but we can forget about that if that's a sensitive topic!"

once upon a time, he had kept up with the latest talks and gossip around rocket. priam has, since then, dialed down for reasons he doesn't even understand himself.

misery loves company, but he likes to contradict himself.

"oi, oi, oi! what are you doing?!"

priam shouts from the corner of the scene with what seems to be an espeon.

"dude, that guy's dangerous! back away! it's, like, not really a cute, baby misdreavous!"

he appears panicked and scared to move closer, but he still tries to get the guy to move away. exaggerated movement try to signal him not to fuck around and find out, with his espeon looking concerned.

there is concern on how relaxed his pondering was at the face of dangerous paradox pokemon.

"it's a ghost trying to get to the sun! that's not misdreavous behavior!" he attempts to explain further.

"yo, yo, yo!" he greets as he alights his braviary.

he recalls it back to his ball, unlike sage and their pokemon. it wasn't that it was a smart decision to be ready at all times with a pokemon out, but he figures his pokemon can't be as stealthy as theirs was.

"ya!" he answers enthusiastically. "i didn't see any league forces around the area when i was flyin' around, so we should be fine."

priam starts to move to a direction before he adds something else to his statement.

"i did see a few scorched areas around. i'm not sure if it's actually from a fire though cause i just saw smoke. heard the paradox mons around these parts can do that even with water."

of course, it was all hearsay and gossip. seeing everything up close and confirming it with their accounts was much better feedback to the people who want their surveys.

they aid the man, and as obvious as the trap was, priam can't blame them for taking a potential life-or-death situation as an emergency.

the zoroark transforms back to its original form, holding a burner phone belonging to priam. it has a surprisingly good speaker for something disposable.

"you guys shouldn't be this trusting, y'know."

the pokemon breaths fire with flamethrower, endangering the whole clinic from catching on fire. the zoroark turns and rushes back to their location as soon as it ahs done its job.

he steps out with his face covered with a motorcycle helmet. it has a cool garchomp motif as design.

"they told me to push league camps further away and this place right here is apparently your weak point."

not because of the defenders themselves, but the fact that they have to defend something in case of an attack.

with great enthusiasm, he leads the way inside the cave. a coin he found just outside of it tries to tell priam that it's good luck.

it wasn't a cave, though. what they thought was an opening to the side of the mountain was instead a window to giratina's domain that they once saw on mt. pyre before. the sound of water was simply the inverted waterfall that appears in it.

A rift to the DISTORTION WORLD opens briefly, like an opening eye. Peering into it fills priam and theo with dread.

"uh, i think this is the time to head back."

he would have attempted to stay longer, but the underlying feeling of something similar to what happened in ultra deep sea occurring again stops him from being adventurous.

inside, they find an opening on one of the mountain's sides. the cave was dark, but the sound of dripping water echoes inside of its walls.

next to it was a paradox pokemon unlike any that have graced hoenn's lands before. this is what priam imagined fossil pokemon should look like, and it wasn't surprising that this is what they appear as given that they're supposedly from dreams.

"which way do we go?" he asks.

on one hand, the paradox pokemon doesn't seem to take notice of them. if it was actually as great as the real deal, he even guesses that it just doesn't care much about them as long as they don't approach.

on the other hand, fishing.

eyes widen with the invitation for adventure.

"let's go! let's go!"

just as they take their first few steps towards the direction of a roar, an earthquake shakes the ground. priam stops for a moment before resuming any movement a second later.

"woah. they're heavy as fuck if they sound like that," he says, mistaking it for the paradox pokemon's steps. "i heard about them alpha pokemon. maybe they're alpha paradox pokemon!"

one of the monstrous chimeras being larger than average would be a sight to behold.

he whips it in the air, playing with it to get a feel of the fishing tool.

"yo, these are cool!"

he retracts and expands it, surprisingly infatuated by the collapsible fishing rod that theo hands over to him. like a kid getting a toy for christmas, the excitement over something small was openly observed.

"how strong are these?" he asks. "can we get a walking wake with this?"

"are there even any paradox fish?"

the question sticks to his head. it only takes moments for him to fixate on it.

"ooh! let's go fishing! do you want to go back and grab some fishing rods?"

he takes out their map provided by them by the first few people who scoured the place. there weren't much landmarks and it barely contains the entire geography, but it's better than nothing.

"maybe there's, like, water places deeper in area zero! let's look for those first!"

he puffs his chest out, proudly taking the chance that nomi has set up for him.

"i gotchu."

he looks around for a rock or some projectile, but upon finding one, he settles for a sturdy-looking twig beneath the dyna tree. he supposed it had been part of the tree, and using it to take another part of it seemed disrespectful.

at least calyrex wasn't around to see it.

priam throws it upward, cleanly hitting the fruit off from a branch high up. it lands on the soft ground, cushioned by fallen leaves and soft peat, ready to be taken by anyone who wants it.

"heh, i'm an expert on these things, what can i say?" he brags as he picks it up to hand over to their head scientist.

he wouldn't show his surprise at his own skills, knowing that it wasn't luck.

the use of throwing knives during their dream at galar left no traces after all, besides the one souvenir he brought from it. muscle memory from wielding such weapons was never explored in the modern world.

"oh, i got the perfect guy for the job!"

his gabite pops out of his ball to help excavate anything underneath the sands. it wasn't dirt, something that it's actually used to digging out, but the job description was pretty much the same.

"go get this sand out!"

the gabite cries in response before going to work. unlike what priam envisioned, the pokemon had instead opted to blow out the sands by creating a sandstorm to drag the rest of the grains along with it.

as priam tries to weather the storm to act cool when it was not what he planned, he turns to oscar to return back to the topic, spitting sand out of his mouth once in a while.

"conditions? does that mean this place isn't like any other desert out there?"

"nope!" he answers easily. "i wasn't really important enough to be assigned anywhere far. plus, vermillion's already got me busy with work there."

it was the port city of kanto after all, where rocket gets their supplies and reinforcement, as well as the league's side of things. there was a reason why rocket concentrated on slateport when they first arrived on hoenn.

"vermillion's still got its beaches though! oh, and good fishing spots! we see lapras once in a while too!"

he focuses on saying the positives of his hometown in an attempt to shadow his bleak kanto life.
