celebrations for those who have passed and their spirits had come and gone in the last few weeks. sootopolis paid its respects to its fallen leaders and those who had proceeded olivia, of which it had been presumed the former councilwoman of sootopolis had joined the ranks of the dead. this was incorrect olivia had been informed by a phone call from a member of the crown. sightings of miss morningstar had been reported and after a quick conversation between the abbiati and morningstar secretaries, a meeting was set up between the two sisters of sootopolis.

once the other woman had arrived to silverspire, she would be led through the castle by a member of the crown. the procession was quick and courteous with dips of the head greeting the lady morningstar should she speak to any of the crown members buzzing about. they passed balder’s gym as well before finally stopping at the door to olivia’s office.

on the upper floors of the tallest towers is where the abbiati matriarch resided and waited. reports and other paperwork were spread out across her desk when a soft rapping of the door alerted olivia of her guest’s arrival. “enter.” she called from her desk, filing away her paperwork into a drawer. olivia stood as the crown member left her alone with the woman who once had been a headache. her powder blue dress shuffled as olivia approached with a cordial smile and open arms, “welcome to silverspire. it is good to see you up and about, freya.”

her hunt did not take long. traversing the well trodden path of mud into the wetlands of the safari zone, olivia and her companions quickly came upon a lone mudkip splashing about the swamp. she held a hand out to stop her own water types as she entered the clearing. "greetings, child of the earth shaker." she cooed with a warm smile an outstretched hand. the mudkip's fin vibrated a bit at her words before it cautiously approached. he gave olivia's hand a healthy sniffffff.

it then pressed its wet cheeks against her supple finger tips. as was the way of the abbiati, water types felt comfortable with her. she quietly produced a safari ball and gently bopped the pokemon on the head and murmured, "there there."

there was little to worry that her peer knew of what little family olivia did have in hone - those who stuck to the shadows and foretold false futures. it was an embarrassment to the abbiati name; yet, olivia could not help but feel a connection to this elder. it was this kinship and thomas' suggestion that had olivia follow the seer into her tent of incense and candles.

the older woman led through a maze of haze until they were seated across from her on two cushioned seats of dark wood. inbetween them and the fortune teller was a clothed table with a crystal ball. she spun her hands over the ball and whispered gibberish before looking olivia dead in the eyes. "power has follows your path across the depths of the unknown, and will continue to do.." she muttered ominously. within the opaque glass of her crystal ball a fog swirled. the older woman continued, "ambition will be rewarded but at what cost? that which you have fought will pass unto the next with ancient ways of their own."

puzzled, olivia simply nodded and offered a polite smile. "how intriguing." she mused, glancing to the dark type gym leader. the jade orbs of the hag bore holes into thomas, beckoning him forward and searching his future.

they were in the thick of autumn and with it came the chills and frost of an early winter. this change in season brought on the annual migration of various species of pokemon - one of which had been prominently displayed on email olivia had received from the safari zone. a mudkip, native to the region and the traditional water type starter given out to up and coming trainers. so it was about time olivia got herself one.

having paid the small fee to enter the exotic area, olivia began her hunt. meara and calypso followed along and had orders to keep quiet if wild pokemon approached. they were undoubtedly loyal but right now she didn't need them scaring off her prize.

"but of course." olivia answered cooly with a thin smile. she took a sip from her glass before explaining, "as i am sure you are well aware, wild mutated pokemon have been attacking densely populated areas at an alarming rate. while rampaging pokemon on their own are concerning there is also the extraterrestrial beast that have popped up in hoenn via wormholes or what have you." olivia paused for the briefest of moments to allow the other woman to process what she had just said - or specifically, so olivia could watch her process said information. none if it should be news to her, but still, it was better not to assume.

"further, there has been a spike in a legendary sightings as well as their newfound..." the mistress of the sea continued to explain before she pondered for the correct word. "... avatars, for lack of a better term, have been increasing as well. my successor in sootopolis, Balder Schwartz, is a prime example. while we cannot pinpoint the exact reason, i can give my educated opinion on the matter as both an expert in pokemon mythos and professional who works with pokemon: legends do not come out from hiding lest they are needed, and it is undeniable that these pokemon have a deep connection with nature. it is with this in mind that i fear our fumbling with the environment has somehow provoked a response from these mythic pokemon and triggered these mutations in wild - usually docile - pokemon."

olivia finished, "thus, i wish to bring together a specialized team to investigate these claims as well as work to better hoenn's environmental impact. to do so i will need the support of the populace to convince my fellow council members of the importance of said initiative." she took another sip after speaking so much and asked with an arched brow, "i do hope that answer would suffice for miss lupin."

olivia was speechless as the phione came flying at her with those stubby little arms. it was a blessing to be graced with the mythical creature's presence and an honor to be touched by the blue blob. the water witch broke out into a grin at the face hug. meara gave off a low growl to warn the other pokemon, but olivia dismissed it with a wave of her hand. she chuckled and gently pulled the phione off from her cheeks. "i am, in more ways than one, shocked." she said at last, having freed herself from the deity's grip. there was not a person alive of her clan who could claim such as she.

olivia coo'd at the baby pokemon and ran a finger across its puffy face. still smiling, her eyes remaining on the phione in her arms, she asked, "how did you come by this daughter of the tides, alexei?" there was no point in beating around the bush. her tone was full of joy and glee and nothing could ruin that for her, but how a man of sky and feathers came across a demigod of the ocean was concerning - if not not curious.

the massive spurt of water was more than enough to put the flames to rest. as the smoke sputtered out into the winds olivia continued to bark orders, "those injured, please make your way towards our tent emergency services should be arriving shortly." she snapped her fingers at her omanyte who created said tent with a precisely measured rock slide while she fumbled with her phone. she hated these things. olivia pressed a few buttons, yelled at someone on the other line, and was finally able to get a hold of the nearest pokecenter.

"nurses will be here soon! until then, calypso tend to their wounds." olivia addressed any who had made their way to the tent as she released her azumarill. should any approach the blue bunny, glowing healing waters of an aqua ring surrounding it. calypso allowed them to sink their burns into the water as needed. it was with all that, hopefully squared away that she focused her attention on the stranger. Olivia arched a brow at the bow before answering, "indeed i am, may i ask who i - and these people - have the honor of knowing? without you this fire could have spread beyond the trail and to petalburg or become a wildfire." her smile and tone were warm, but those ocean eyes were cool and full of curiosity.

"again do forgive us as we did not wis-" olivia had began to say before a buzzing in her pocket alerted her to an emergency. a scowl quickly found itself strewn across her face, followed by a sigh.

she began to leave, her ghostly companion following behind as she called to those behind, "works has me busy, even now." and olivia never felt more grateful to get out of such an awkward —

the cold damp air of the subterranean chamber hit the back of olivia's throat with a chill as she sucked in a breath. ruins and crumbling caverns was what the mistress of the sea had thought to be awaiting her, and she was partially right. it had been a twenty minute trek through waist deep salt water as cold as one would expect hidden away in the earth until they reached the atrium. it was not what she had expected at all. the ornate fountain, toppled statues, still standing pillars - it truly was breath taking, and intriguing.

she thought it a puzzle or, at the very least, the spheres were out of place. "meara." olivia whispered, and her trusty vaporeon rose from the waters in an aquamarine light. pointing a manicured finger at the sphere pointing in the pool she ordered, "fetch that, and take it to the north eastern pillar." obediently, the vaporeon used acid armor to meld into the water of the pool and direct it towards the pillar. then, with a precisely measured hydro pump, she launched it to its presumed position.

meanwhile, olivia had summoned two more of her companions: calypso the azumarill and opis the omastar. "calypso, jump up there and grab that sphere and then take it to the north west pillar." olivia whispered, flicking her wrist to where the sphere was hidden. like the soldier she was, calypso tottered off and used her bouyant tail to bounce up on the shelf, grab it, and then bounce up to place it in its correct position. as the blue bunny bounced away, olivia kneeled down next to her omasta and asked, "make us two ramps so we can roll those last spheres up to the southern pillars." like a soldier, even with a little tentacle salute, opis obeyed. he used his eldritch powers to cause two rock slides to jut out from the base and make a ramp to the top. the omastar rolled one up to its position while olivia did so with the other.

all in all, the whole process took about twenty minutes and when they were done olivia admired the architecture and their handiwork. her pokemon returned to her side, their eyes and her own ocean eyes looking for any details.
