just as energetic as ever, it seems.

lately, a good number of trainers have shown interest in the new, non-traditional challenge her gym had to offer; especially in a small, rural and generally "boring" town in comparison to the gyms in the larger cities. this would have to be her first traditional battle with a challenger.

needless to say, part of her was excited, despite how well she maintained her composure.

thankfully, she had already organized her stuff and, as a good host will always do, brought out a bag with a metal bottle in it. it was being held by her volcarona, which fluttered not too far behind the gym leader. when the challenger is in her midst, she smiles and waves her arm into the air.

"hello there! isn't it cold? i brought some team to hopefully warm you up." she maintains a soothing smile on her face, offering the canteen to him.

the buzzing was irritating.

seriously, what was so good about bug types? she could easily crush them, but ayame still liked them more! than her, too! it was obvious!

and although it wasn't polite to vent out her anger, it just so happened that a bug type was annoying her. she takes a deep breath, with the small rainbow on the top o her head twitching slightly at the yanma.

she huffs, and raises her craned neck from the bowl. there were only few berries left in there, and she mainly took the sweeter ones, anyways. "fine, take them." she says, sliding the quarter-full bowl to the dragonfly.

Though she acknowledges the starmie hanging around the side, she doesn't pay it much mind.

Rather, she keeps a calm smile on her lips while gently nuzzling into the carapace of her centiskorch. She brings her hands up to gently rub against each other and warm herself up with the radiating heat.

"Yuki would like this weather~" she muses.

the haxorus groans, fending the flock of bats off with the large axe-like tusk on his head. [break][break]

he sends a glare through them, trying to find the trainer. annie's weavile is able to land an attack on the dragon pokemon, which results in him staggering and and trying to contain his voice. but, from the close distance, it uses the opening to bring its arm and claw down on the ice type to land a dragon claw.

everything seems calm, quiet and fine; until his hand is suddenly caught within a thick, sticky thread of a drained electroweb. after adjustment to the darkness, faint sparks would be able to be recognizable. unfortunately for him, he stumbles into the forest home of a large, yellow arachnid pokemon. it hisses from within the darkness, with its eight eyes glaring towards the intruder. the galvantula is visible in the darkness with the courtesy of it's sparking, yellow fuzz. [break][break]

but it grows bigger, and bigger, as it approaches. it crawls through the trees and the ground, using agility to rush at the trainer. [break][break]

Annie's attempt to avoid the den pokemon is successful; she is able to dodge the slash. Unfortunately, the haxorus lets out a louder cry into the cave, which alert ZUBAT sleeping from within. They begin to fly out of the cave, in fear of the dragon's roar. The crowds of bat pokemon hit and slash at Annie, unintentionally, with their wings. [break][break]

Fortunately, the zubat have created a cover, and the haxorus cannot see anything past zubat. It won't last forever. [break][break]

ZUBAT have come out. They hinder your movement, but offer a chance of escape. HAXORUS is immobilized; now might be a good chance to attack..[break][break]

she has to cover her ears, again, because of the hyper voice. wonderful. [break][break]

but butterflies were out and took damage from the hyper voice, both cringing from the sound.[break][break]

but so long as she kept her beautifly out, she wouldn't have to worry too much about too many moves being used; seeing that the deino was infatuated. maybe, maybe not - who knows. although she hums softly, upon seeing the hippowdon come out to hopefully tie up any loose ends left by the partner. she takes a glance to her two butterfly pokemon on the field, where they both seemed to yawn and grow drowsy. she pulls out the vivillon's pokeball, then holds it out to recall the bug pokemon - leaving beautifly on the field. alone. [break][break]

"how rude. people are sleeping~" she chimes. her smile doesn't leave her lips, especially when she tilts her head towards the drooping butterfly. with the wave of her hand, she points towards the sand oozing from the back of the hippo pokemon. "giga drain, if you're going to fall asleep." her voice is calm and quiet, while the butterfly revved herself up. the butterfly's needle-like proboscis began to glow green, and it dashed towards the pokemon with the intent to jab it and drain to make up for lost damage from earlier. [break][break]

The safari zone.

She'd be lying if she said she's been here before. With all the hype and the news going around about it, though, she doesn't see why she hasn't set the time aside to take a gander at what it had to offer.

What she didn't enjoy was the fee she had to pay, but she digresses. Though it was fairly cold, she had her little fire centipede curled up at her shoulders like a scarf, hoping to keep his trainer warm as she walked down the path.

LET THE TRIAL BEGIN

Thrown onto the ground like a rag doll, stripped of belongings and pokemon, save for three. [break][break]

Ayame has set the stage; the unruly, unpredictable jungle. Throughout, she is judging. She watches from within the confines of the gym walls, smiling at monitors where cameras had been set up on her own pokemon to stealthily follow the challenger in question. [break][break]

Night has fallen, and pokemon are getting ready to sleep; the diurnal ones, at least. Nocturnal pokemon still scuttle and hiss, with growls being heard in the distance. The entrance of the forest is nowhere to be seen, meaning the challenger was dropped off in some random point in the forest. The trainer will find slashed leaves, half-eaten berry bushes, and branches and fallen twigs surrounding them. [break][break]

He already knew the fail conditions; the only thing left was to HUNT OR SURVIVE. [break][break]

It was getting dark; the only thing on his person were the three pokemon he brought and the flare in his pocket. Wind was picking up; the night was going to be a cold one. [break][break]
