The samurai cared little for all but one of her target’s plans. All she knew was that he was open, he’d shut his mouth, and she could slice him. Her run (and his lack of movement) took her closer to the mage. Her blade was already drawn, so from there it took but a single swipe for her to do what she’d meant to so many turns ago – land a damn sword strike on somebody.

[attr="class","athread"]Some Pokemon had attitude problems. That much was no surprise. The trouble was when those traits persisted, even after months of training. Her Tsareena’s strength only partially made up for many of hers – jealousy, impulsiveness, a vicious nature, womanizing, etcetera, etcetera.

An attempt to tame Queenie went horribly wrong when she eyed a Lilligant that threatened her position as the most beautiful grass-type in sight. She ignored Annie’s calls to stop in favour of tackling the poor lady to the ground, beating her head against the earth, and stomping on her back for good measure. Only when the Lilligant pleaded for mercy, her dress soiled and her flower closing up in defence, did Queenie stand up and admire her handiwork.

She was immediately returned to her ball, of course. Annie wouldn’t let her hear the end of that any time soon, but first, she’d need to tend to the poor thing’s injuries. With no healing Pokemon on hand, she had no choice but to throw a Pokeball. Once she’d taken the little lass to be healed, she could release her again… Right?

[attr="class","athread"]Annie hadn’t mastered combat. Hell, she hadn’t even finished the tutorial. She had no business being so deep into PVP territory, but then, warnings had never stopped her before. Not when she was determined to make mad stacks.

She went for a tried and tested method (in the real world): standing in the middle of the desert, cupping her hands to her mouth, and calling out to all of Terrera. “Alright, you dumb butts! Ultimeite is here and ready to take you out! Anybody that thinks I can’t do it, step right up!” Taunt was likely the closest a human would come to using a monster’s move, and she was happy to take advantage of that.

How convenient of the woman to out both of the mages’ types. Her words, as long and incorrect as they were, told Annie that she’d made the right choice. The man’s bug type attacks could win them the battle, if he survived long enough. If she survived long enough.

She had a job to do, then. As long as she could draw fire from Alec (‘A mage with no multi-target attacks? Really? Well, works for me.’), her ally was free to handle the real threat. Meanwhile, her challenger seemed to have let the cosplay get to his head. She was no stranger to talking a big game, but years of being her own biggest fan had taught her that there was an art to arrogance… One that he was failing to grasp. It was almost insulting, and she had a terrible feeling that it wasn’t just an act.

She supposed that the casting time of spells gave him little else to do, but that wouldn’t stop her from delivering a verbal smack down: “What was that about talking too much? …Geez, even when you’re trying to act scary, you can’t help it.” She had no plans to sit still and wait for him to strike her down; while she spoke, her character broke into a run. The armour, it seemed, did nothing to weigh Ultimeite down. Zig-zags and sudden turns made aiming a troublesome affair, and sure enough, it spared her another painful blow.

[attr="class","athread"]Weird. She’d walked up to the sword, tried to lift it, and then the game had glitched out and sent her back to spawn. Irritating, but Annie was nothing is not determined. And resilient. And stubborn. Her travels brought her into its territory, and she found herself eyeing the blade again. It must have been waiting for somebody with a high attack stat like her to free it!

It’d likely take a few deaths for her to get the idea.

[attr="class","athread"]It was easy for her to say ‘live and let live’ with no relatives to tie her down, but she stopped short of mentioning that. The last thing most conversations needed was a mention of her tragic backstory. At least he seemed to have reached a conclusion he was happy with. That, or he didn’t care to get into the details with her. She knew all too well that sometimes it was easier to force on a snappy smile than delve into the details… But if that was what kept him comfortable, she wouldn’t pry.

“Sure, sure! Well, nothing I’m looking at right now looks close… What about you guys?” Her mount had a good view of the ocean (as good as one could get with no eyes), but its flash of green told that they’d had no luck yet. Likewise, Pancake gave a negative call – she knew what they were looking for, and a Sliggoo was not it. “Aw, at this rate we’ll be here until the sun goes down! And I don’t want this to turn into an overnight stay – trust me, the ocean gets real cold at night.”

[attr="class","athread"]Free sword? Free sword. To the surprise of few, the legend had missed Annie Mei, who merely say an opportunity in the middle of the field. With a devilish grin she rushed to wrap her hand around the blade, and in one mighty pull, yank it out of the stone!

Of course, it wouldn’t be that easy. The Honedge, as if waiting for somebody as foolish as her, immediately wrapped its sash around her hand. Before she could let out a confused cry, she was out for the count.

There was always one. Still, if she had to guess who would have the most honour out of Alec and a random stranger, she would have put money on the gym leader. Better to be proven wrong in a video game than in reality, but the attack stung nonetheless- and not just because she was weak to it. And then, as if to rub in how he’d taken advantage of her, he yapped. Rather than point out the problem with him stopping to talk to scold her for stopping to talk, an ellipsis popped up in front of her character. Ultimeite’s head slowly turned towards the boy, and in an instant, her face was swapped up for an emote:She let him go. As annoying as his talk was, she knew it would be easier for them to pick off one mage at a time than try to handle two at once. Instead, the samurai dug her blade into the earth. The hilt was forced down and towards her, forcing the sword back out, and with it, a boulder was sent flying across the field. It phased through the rogue on its way to the marked target – a poor mage that was about to be more problems on her hands.

“Steal, watch your back!” The dragon had already proven himself the most roguish of them all – and not in a good way. If he chose to strike her ally while his back was turned, she at least wanted him to know what was coming.

Deep down she’d pegged Orion as the kind of man that was quick to worry, but somehow, obtuse game mechanics were where he drew the line. If she hadn’t already been preoccupied with being pissed off, it would’ve been hilarious.

The emote gave way to a more fitting face, allowing the game to attempt to lip-sync her voice again. “Yep. Dumb game. Two out of ten. Devs don’t have brains. What kind of boneheaded- just sit down, my left buttcheek!” She fell back onto the grass, giving the sky the frowniest of faces. “All I wanted to do was take a few minutes and check out the menus, but it couldn’t be that easy! Geez.” A few seconds passed, which were presumably spent cursing off-mic, before her avatar turned her head closer to the grass, watching Lykos.

“….Bottom-left corner, by the way. There’s probably a button for it. You know, in the tutorial. I’m starting to think I should be back and do it.”

A good old round of nobody landing a hit. Every warrior’s favourite. Ultimeite defaulted to her idle animation, sword sheathed as she surveyed the situation. Annie took the chance to grumble something about bullshit dodging off-mic, and then figure out how she could have some fun. It didn’t take long for her to find her answer. The blade was drawn once more, pointed at her next target.

“Hey, hey, she’s not even fighting!” The tip directed their sights to the buffing witch. “I didn’t come here to waste all my HP fighting, just so she can clean up at the end! How about we pick her off before it comes to that?” She left herself open as a show of trust, hoping that the others would think of the bigger picture over a quick opportunity.
