she watches the man do the same nicety to the girl before he returns to the matter at hand. “it actually started the moment you shaked my hand,” selena teases, trying to gauge his reaction before she breaks into a soft chuckle. “but yeah, no worries. i mean, this interview doesn't have to be that formal. no cameras to record us or whatsoever. and besides,” she turns to the youngest in the group. “i don't want to bore the ‘saint of slateport.’ let's just keep things fun and surprising as it is.”[break][break]

galarian slowbros retaliate one night on the streets of petalburg, attempting to get back after the failed shootout the previous month. some are rushing tiptoes into the city square while others crawl and take their time onto their designated meeting place.[break][break]

selena is not usually the first to respond. ever since hoenn started to recover from the aftermaths of the invasion, more and more people begin to volunteer to help get back the cities to shape. it just so happens that an errand in the nearby town pushes her to stay in the city for the night, which leads her to her current predicament.[break][break]

“callie, halt their fires.” before poison can take over the cemented roads, the gym leader's gardevoir catches these venom shots and return them back to the attackers.[break][break]

the ocean lets out a deafening roar as the leviathan breakes from the sea's surface, ancient runes running across its azure body that selena has only witnessed in the books of legends. the sky grumbles with storm, more chaos threatening to drown lilycove while the kyogre rises from the water with its origin pulse. but before she takes care of that—[break][break]

“duck!” she calls oscar clayton as medusa provides him support with the naganadel. the milotic summons blizzard into the poison dragon's direction, stopping its attempt at piercing through the man's flesh. it seems the gym leader cannot recognize him with their previous altercation, especially with all the disarray around them.[break][break]

her other pokémons focus on the greater threat coming to them. while light screen and reflect is still reflected, the pinkette's party advances towards the rampaging behemoth of the ocean. hand-in-hand, ganesha power whips into the rocks, attempting to hurl the broken boulders into the energy orbs of the beast's origin pulse. with electricity sizzling into the field of rain, yellow mist surges from the gym leader as her terrain attempts to partially stun the mighty kyogre. “ganesha, stay here and provide support for the coast,”
she looks up at tapu koko and nods. “we're gonna handle this.”[break][break]

from the copperajah, selena leaps on her milotic's side as she slither towards the rising tide. delphox positions herself behind her trainer while the deity and the bird dragon hovers just above them. they stop at a safe distance before tapu koko and delphox continue their assault, the tapu producing a massive electroweb to halt kyogre's movement while circe launches shock waves into its right fin.[break][break]

their reunion is cut short when she witnesses another stakataka pillar coming to life, drones surging from the distant mountain. their eyes gleaming red, ready to take charge at incoming enemies. “those things are real dangerous when they get the opportunity to cave you in. don't give them that chance.” she advises Billi Marsh as she pushes ganesha to proceed to the mountainside as well once he leaps to the sky with his corviknight.[break][break]

the copperajah charges with heavy slam, the forming pillar clashing with its heavy metal as they rush forth through velmos's direction. the delphox's light screen lingers around the behemoth mount as she casts dazzling gleam on their drone eyes, attempting to halt their lasers. tapu koko blesses the party under the protection of a reflective barrier, dealing with possible physical attacks from the drone units. muddy water from medusa surrounds the surging copperajah before venus, whose grandiose plumage sheds off, launches off a barrage of draco meteor as additional protection.[break][break]

reinforcements come in the form of other trainers fending off megalopolans from their grip on the town residents. several take their fear and anger into battle as more people are ushered to escape the chaos unfurling on the island. selena witnesses the stakataka break into several more pieces which march on different directions of the island. several trainers remain where the eastern and western pillars race to, leaving her and her party to proceed protecting the southern portion of the island.[break][break]

“rev up!” the gym leader and her delphox leap onto the copperajah's trunk, lifting them to his back, using the metal elephant as their ground mount. miloric slithers on his side while tapu koko and altaria follow through the air. she reaches where another trainer (oscar clayton) retaliates at the southern pillar.[break][break]

“ganesha, venus, topple the trammel's structure!” as the altaria's pluffed plumage becomes surrounded with silver light, the copperajah stomps his feet on the ground, both summoning tremors of earthquake into the layer of sand and rocks. medusa becomes a valuable support, her muddy water washing down stray megalopolans and knocked up stakataka cubes back to the shores. drenched in water, tapu koko attempts to electrify them with its sparkling electroweb that shimmers with the delphox's remaining light screen.[break][break]

“i'm thinking if they used the trammels as a weapon, they must have another secret weapon or something.” the hesitance in her voice and the worriness in her eyes meet tapu koko's, her expression pleading for answers, looking at circe's attempt to discover more mysteries behind the megalopolan general's intentions with future sight.[break][break]
