Georgette stood with her hand on her hips, the chill in the air paid little mind to as she tipped her head up to stare at the nest threatening to catch fire against the attaching power lines. Lips pulling down subtly, she observed the pokemon with bewilderment. It sure was an Archeops. And that sure was a nest of screaming Archen. The real question was how the parents had managed to get up there on their own, and the last thing she needed was the outbuilding housing her incubators to go offline.

Heaving a soft sigh she scanned the immediate area. A call placed to the local Ranger's division had resulted in the promise of sending someone out to help relocate the nest without causing too much distress and damage to the newly born Archen.

She hoped whoever they sent had dressed warmly enough.

Dressing warmly is not often an expectation in Hoenn, tropical as the region is supposed to be. Tam, however, had spent most of his life at a much different place, and even if most people would have felt a certain discomfort when stepping into Georgette Bluebottle’s property while clad in a Ranger uniform that is definitely not meant for snowy weather, the Unovan doesn’t really mind his surroundings. He will if he stays for too long, that much he knows for sure, but that is also something for ’future Tam’ to concern himself with, and at the moment, no more than an unnecessary worry he cares not for.

And so it’s calmly that he makes his way towards the spot where they said the gym leader would be waiting, and when looking up, it’s easily that those light blue eyes of his fall upon the problem.

”An Archeops? Hmm… That might work out…” He muses out loud. What is it with bird pokémon and making their nests at the most precarious spots possible? Especially an ancient and rare species like an Archeops. It’s no wonder they went extinct once.

It’s with this thought that Tam looks at the gym leader, realising he had not introduced himself. He gives her a nod out of acquired and practised politeness – the sort of thing his captain in Unova used to tell him to do.

”I’m Tam. Mossdeep Ranger HQ asked to come lend you a hand.” As made obvious by his uniform. What is not obvious, however, is that Tam himself is stationed in Slateport, not Mossdeep, and that he had only been in the area by chance. But, of course, he sees no point in bothering with explaining all of that.

Georgette heard before she saw Tam's appearance, though she makes no move to immediately look at her guest; instead she watches the Archeops with a mild bewilderment, her eyebrow arching sharply when one parent nearly falls from the nest. "Archeops," she agrees, her blue-green gaze finally casting askance to catch Tam's nod. Giving a nod of her own, her expression eases into a smile as she greets, her words wrapped in a heavily Kalosian accent, "Bonjour, Tam. I am Georgette. It is a pleasure to meet you, no?"

Squawking once more turns her attention to the pole containing the nest - this time it seems a scuffle has broken out between the Archen hatchlings. She heaves a quiet sigh, her features twisting into bemusement as she confides to Tam, "I do not know how they got on top. There is no nearby tree to glide down from, and the building is too far away." Brow furrowing as she tries and fails to puzzle out where the nestlings and their parents have come from, she shakes her head soon instead as if to clear away the thoughts.

"I did not want to disturb them, no? But they right next to my powerlines and that building holds eggs." She looks up to Tam for confirmation of his understanding before asking, "Any ideas?"

Does the fact that she questions if it’s a pleasure to meet him have to do with the whole Kalosian thing she has going on? Tam hasn’t met many Kalosians before, so he ponders on the matter for a second… But, of course, it’s only a second.

It’s a meaningless thing to think about, so it’s quickly that he brushes it off – his attention instead returning to the nest and the Archeops.

Unlike him, Georgette Bluebottle does actually ask a couple of important questions.

”Huh… Maybe they climbed using rock attacks or something?” He shrugs, since Archeops are, after all, Rock types. It’s a strange explanation for sure, unlikely too, but over his years as a ranger, Tam has come to learn that pokémon will do just about anything for the sake of what they think will ensure the safety of their young. A fact that, admittedly, could cause problems for him and Georgette.

”Yeah, we shouldn’t disturb them. We could put them to sleep, but I would still have to climb up there to g–”

Get them.

A flash of red light makes it so Tam doesn’t get to finish the sentence. One of the green Friend Balls clipped to his belt opens without his intervention, and from it appears a bright-eyed Yamper that looks up at the gym leader. Her ears are perked up, and her short tail wags in excitement.

”Oh… Sorry. That’s Clover, she likes to help.”
[break][break]
Or, at least what Clover thinks would help, because sadly the barking with which she greets Georgette is unlikely to be very soothing for the Archeops and Archen.

"Perhaps," Georgette answers with distraction, her head tilting faintly to the side as one of the little Archens peers over the side of the nest at the pair of humans and squawks indignantly. Her mouth quirking into a half-smile at the action, she continues absently, "I could find a ladder, no?"

The small woman's attention is drawn back to Tam, and more importantly, the pokemon that pops out of its pokeball.

"Clover," she repeats, her blue-green eyes wide with overt adoration at the sight of the little Yamper. "Bonjour, Clover," Georgette gushes, the barking ignored as if it were and innate feature of the dog. She knees down, her arms drawn around her knees for a moment before extending her hand, offering the back of her hand for Clover to sniff.

Her worries for her incubators forgotten for the time being, a soft noise of delight squeaks out of Georgette as she observes Clover. "You are the most help I bet," she whispers assuredly to the little Yamper.

The Archeops and Archen were now firmly Tam's problem.

Tam can do no more than sigh. Not in exasperation, not even in annoyance, but in acceptance. This is just the way it is with Clover sometimes, and it’s exactly why she’s the only one among his pokémon that has been named: because other people always adore her. Yes, his coworkers had named Dame Clover Cottonbottom, not him, but it’s not like Tam would ever complain. After all, he adores her as well.

The problem is that as much adoration as there might be, it sure doesn’t fix this whole situation with the Archeops’ nest, and with the Yamper thoroughly enjoying Georgette Bluebottle’s gushing and pampering, that leaves him to handle this all by himself.

It’s fine.

Ever the friendly pup, Clover licks Georgette’s hand, moving closer as if attempting to jump into her arms, and while the Yamper is busy with all of that, her owner walks over to the side of the building in search for a way to easily climb up. He does indeed find some rocks, perhaps confirming his suspicions, but not trusting that they’ll support his weight, he settles for getting his Snorlax to help.

From there on, getting on the roof is no challenge, but it’s only once he’s actually up there that Tam calls the Sleeping Pokémon back, in favour of a Happiny that clings to his leg from the moment it comes out of its Friend Ball.

”Okay… It’s just you and me now.”

Yes, this could possibly be the best day of Georgette's life. As Clover gives her hand a little lick and moves forward, she scarcely dares to breath, and it's not long before her arms are wrapped around the loaf and bundled up against her chest. "So cute," she gushes in a whisper, her fingers scritching into the corgi's dense fur.

It's then she finally notices Tam has actually been busy while she lollygags with the Yamper. Straightening up, her eyebrow arches subtly. She should likely help. She knows she should help. But Clover is so cute. To be fair, it seems the ranger has managed to get up to the Archeopss nest, though what exactly he plans to do about it is unknown.

"Can I help," Georgette hazards after a moment. Hopefully he didn't.
