|vanna's popping pain killers when she steps out of the pokemon center, aloe lurking at her side. a night on the stony ground of rusturf tunnel has her back aching and her neck stiffer than usual.|
it's always a trade off sleeping in a cave. it's cooler, a bit safer, but ultimately more uncomfortable. yielding dirt and soft grass are traded for cold and unwelcoming stone. so, the morning after is always like this.
thankfully the pain is more distracting than anything. the crick in her neck sets her head to pounding and the pain in her back lances down to her hips, but none of it is debilitating. it mostly just puts a dent in her mood -- she can't help but walk around scowling.
it also makes aloe a bit defensive. it's some motherly instinct or something, vanna guesses. makes the grovyle extra sensitive when her trainer is hurting.
all this together can make for awkward encounters with people. she's walking by the old contest hall when one falls in her lap.
some other girl, equally distracted or maybe just unbothered by the idea of bowling into people, crosses her path too quickly.
they collide, vanna holds firm but the stranger doesn't -- goes stumbling back.
vanna's words are less than kind. the collision rattles her already sensitive head and back, making the scowl she was already wearing darken as her eyes narrow from the pain. she glares at the stranger more by accident than anything.
aloe doesn't respond much better, lowering to the ground before hissing dangerously -- eyes wide and angry.
