The night slash approaches the Gengar with the clear intent of ending the battle then and there, with enough force carried behind the attack. There's no doubt that such a possibility exists, and the gym leader is well aware of it.

It was smart of him to bring a dark-type to her gym. The advantage he had was as clear as day, especially due to the fact that the Zoroark's illusion kept him disguised for so long. There was just one thing that Kazimir didn't take into consideration: Zoroark's power remained the same throughout the battle.

Her Gengar's, however, would not.

Much like before, the arena is consumed by a blinding light that emits from Gengar himself. This time, however, it's not a DAZZLING GLEAM that shines from the ghost-type. It's the transformation of a mega-evolution taking place, revealing the gengar's larger form just in time for the DARK SLASH to connect. Boo tanks it with his large mouth, biting down hard. The hit may have connected, but the Zoroark is trapped, unable to escape the wrath of Katherine's partner.

And now, more light emits from the ghoul of a pokemon, pink and bright, fae-like in nature. It's the much expected DAZZLING GLEAM, amplified by the force of a mega evolution.

as his zoroark charges forward the gengar is enveloped in a bright light and soon revealed to be much larger before and even more frightening as it was half suken into the ground and what was left was its large gaping maw. kazimir reached out towards his zoroark to stop it but it still gave charge despite the change in appearance its foe underwent. it was just a bigger and more stupid looking target to the dark type as his claws dug into the shadow-y skin of the ghost. for a split second he held a grin on his face before it evolved into a grimace as he felt teeth gnash onto his arm and hold him tightly. the zoroark could only meet eyes with the gengar with fear for a split second before another dazzling gleam burned it alive once more, as the light faded the fox pokemon was still in the grasp of the ghost but was now on his knees leaning against its girth. limp.

"no. not again." they weren't losing a third time in a row. "c'mon schwartz get up and hit 'em back! we planned too hard to let it go to waste! they don't have us where they want, we have them right were we want them don't we!?" his words reached his pokemon's ears who began to stir and slam his hands together and forced them deeper into the ghost's mouth. with his eyes almost glowing with anger the zoroark let out a roar as dark energy began to pool around him and he let out a point blank night daze inside of gengar with as much strength as he could muster.[break][break]

Whether if the ghost-type is capable of such or Katherine is merely bluffing— well, that’s up for debate. But the mega-evolved Gengar obeys his trainer without a semblance of doubt or a hint of hesitation. When she asks him to jump, he only waits to hear how high. When she tells him to finish a battle…

The only question is how fast?

The Zoroark’s arm glows with wisps of shadow again, promising a hell of a blow should it connect. Thankfully, it failed to escape from the ghost-type’s grasp, so the next HYPNOSIS comes off naturally and easily.

somehow the ghost was still standing. given that they were undead beasts they probably could last a long while, still that didn't mean they would give up at all. as the hypnosis started to wash over schwartz he did his best to keep awake through it with kazimir yelling to keep his attention up. "c'mon don't let him get to ya! end it in a draw if you have to!"

a draw would be better than a loss. so the zoroark mustered whatever energy was still awake in his body and stared down the ghost with intense eyes as his copycat went into effect and his own eyes began to glow red as he unleashed his own hypnosis on the gengar. he wasn't going to go to sleep without a partner to share sweet dreams with, and a fellow ghost sounded like the most pleasant of partners to the dark fox as he slipped into a deep sleep.[break][break]

The ominous pulses of red energy emitted from the Zoroark, copying those of the Gengar. Both pokemon - ghost and dark - succumbed to a deep sleep together. It’s a welcomed surprise, one that brings out a smile from Katherine.

“Close. I suppose we’ll call this a draw then?” She waits for confirmation before recalling the sleeping ghost, allowing Kazimir ample time to voice whether if he was willing to accept this outcome. “Normally a draw wouldn't be enough, but I feel like your Zoroark earned this.”

The badge in question is retrieved from her bag before she tosses it in Kazimir’s direction.
