ah, the letting them go angle... it's to be expected from the higher end of the economical classes, he supposed.

"i don't know how to cook them so i just, like, roast them on a fire. you know how though, right?"

the mention of sunscreen brings priam to another equally important topic. he gets up, excited, and brings it up to theo.

"oh, shit?" priam exclaims in surprise. "that's actually pretty pog! i never had someone teach me how to cook freshly caught fish before!"

unlike theo, his father was absent for a good portion of his life when he finally has a working brain so no one fit the bill of fish cooking teacher for him.

the daydreams of being able to cook freshly caught inkay gets quashed for a moment with the headpat. eyes stare up at the hand before turning straight to theo.

"straw hats it is!" they decided. "how about fishing vests?"

he doesn't know what purpose all those pockets have, but pockets seem handy.

"yeah! it's short for pretty pogchamp!"

he suddenly remembers that theo is super old. it won't surprise priam if he already has a kid that he neglected. that, too, wasn't surprising since he's a dad from kanto rocket.

"oh, pogchamp is just an expression kids use when they're excited. like, you say pog when you're excited. you should try it sometimes!"

priam starts to imagine himself wearing both a straw hat and a fishing vest. he'd look pretty cool like those people by the docks he saw on vermillion as a child, on their yachts.

"wait, are we going on your yacht? you have one, right?"

not only did theo tell him that he can get them a yacht, but also used the word he just taught him. he physically pogs, though the ancient man probably wouldn't get it.

he also mentions something that gets his attention.

"oh, you have daughters? how old are they? are they cute?"

somehow, priam thinks that theo is well into his mid-forties and his children were around his age. then again, he could've gotten a teenage sweetheart pregnant too, and that too would give priam the expected outcome.

after a moment, he pulls up a recent picture of them.

if they're in their twenties, how old does that make theo? forty? fifty? priam's not good with numbers so he just chalks it up to 'really old'.

"they're only a year or so older than me? i guess that means you're old enough to be my actual dad!"

when he shows him his phone, priam quickly takes a look. he smiles and tries to make a good comment about them: not too sleazy that it makes him sound disrespectful, but not too disinterested that it makes it sound like his daughters aren't cute.

"they took after their mother?" he mentions, treading carefully at the line of what's acceptable and what's not. "do you have a missis becket too?"

he wonders when will theo retire from service now. probably a long while since time while working under rocket seems awfully long. he probably might die before it happens too if the trend continues.

"like, are their parents, like, family friends, or what?"

he doesn't see him as someone who just takes in random orphans. if he did, he'd have a whole mansion of them already since kanto was full of them after rocket's initial invasion.

the sentiment's all too familiar to him. he's been subject to it after all, albeit on the other end. he has mixed feeling for that kind of treatment, but he can't say he resents it.

"nope! that one's kind of a funny story actually!"

priam has long forgotten what his family looked like, nor their names. he's pretty sure the surname he's been using was a second name he repurposed since he can't remember it.

"left the region or something, i'unno. i was originally kidnapped for ransom, and, well, they're probably cutting their losses. can't blame them though!"

he barely remembers the family structure, but he's pretty sure he's had siblings and they weren't really that well-off. he's not sure how important they were to be subject to this, but he supposed it was pretty common back then when rocket was still building up from the shadows.

"i guess that's better than being orphaned?"
