Lars looked skyward again, only to get the same stink-eye from the deity.

…and down below it was equivalent chaos. With two attacks coming in from what seemed to be like multiple sides, the Infernape was surrounded—which one was he going to repel first?!

Clearly the ‘fire spider’ was going to do much more damage and set up the fall—and then, it was knocked down and out.

One to two.

There was still the matter of the Articuno though. A shriek of displeasure first, followed by a Blizzard soon after.

Of course, when the deity was angry—all reason flew out the window, too.

Infernape is downed due to being tag-teamed! Infernape is knocked out! Articuno used Blizzard on the surrounding area!

It was surreal how Sénon locked on in battle and could ignore the crazy implications and stakes and simply focus on the task at hand.

For the rest of his life he would remember this battle as fast paced, intense and near magical.

But right now, he just wanted to win.

Articuno's majesty was clear even a sturdy Heatran and prodigal chimchar could produce enough fire to turn over its icy dominion.

Maybe a different approach could have a much bigger impact.

"use STONE EDGE!" he turned to chimchar "ASSIST!"

Doing as Heatran did Chimchar did his best to emulate one of his partners moves.

And what luck, of the six moves Heatran could do Chimchar managed to do just the one Heatran was currently doing.

Meaning...

So be it, then.

Now that the odds were stacked against them, all it took was a singular stink-eye from the Articuno; and Lars took the hint.

Seemingly punching the thin air, the frigid temperatures then dropped to winter-chill levels as the End of the World was nigh.

Summer temporarily became winter in this last, final outburst of power.

Articuno, who rarely loses their cool (lol) used z-move: The End of the World on the surrounding area!

You didn't know fear until you were at ground zero of what you feared was about to become absolute zero.

Articuno's banshee bird shriek in the face of their rocky take down was a bad sign. It sounded more angered than pained, although the reality was easily both.

Too proverbially frozen to try to get away Sénon watched as the Kanto Legend arctic bombed the battlefield.

It wasn't until the Ranger opened his eyes expecting to be frozen solid did he see Heatran standing to protect him taking Articuno's attack wrapped it in a layer of frost it was already melting away.

If there was one pokémon that Articuno was a terrible match for, it was Heatran. Little chimchar wasn't so lucky, being blown back and fainted by articuno's cold served revenge.

Another STONE EDGE put Articuno on ice,

Articuno fainted!

awarding Sénon the win and completing a battle whose footage would become viral among the rangers for its quick pacing and spectacle.

In the end the type match-up was skewed in the redhead's favor. While he did manage to knock out the Chimchar, it was the Heatran that finished the job; not with fire, but with rocks.

The deity took great offense to fire: and so did Lars. In an explosion of steam, the Winged Mirage disappeared back into the clouds.

"I hate this heat," was all Lars could say.
