How was he going to get the tag-team done if he didn’t have someone to battle with?

His opponents were getting antsy on the other side of the arena; and Lars knew that two on one was an unfair advantage to them—so here he was, stuck, waiting for someone to show up.

He was packing along a very angry Kali today; he knew that the Gyarados was looking for any excuse, any reason to scrap with other Pokémon without getting yelled at.

Tick, tock—was he going to get disqualified from this fight?

Just as the official in the arena was about to blow their whistle and ultimately disqualify him, someone finally took mercy and joined him, led by a Luxray that looked completely—

Wait a second.

That voice sounded very familiar!

“Aren’t you the one who—” he began, his mind flashing back to the time that he, Skyler and Angelo had thrown Razz a housewarming party—only instead of a housewarming party enough shit that very nearly made skyler dross yeet all the Ghost-types into ‘Davy Jones locker’ had happened instead.

“Aren’t you the one who scared Sky out of her mind with those Ghost-types?” he asked, spinning the small marble with his free hand.

“The deity isn’t around for now, they’re sleeping… although we can talk about that later…” he trailed off before he looked across the arena and took a deep breath.

“Well, I got a companion now! Y’ain’t going to disqualify me now are you?!” he shouted at the official overseeing the match, who chuckled before blowing a longer blast on the whistle to signify that the tag-team match had started.

Lars blinked, before he realized that was them. The three of them, only dropping by to celebrate the other finally getting a nice (if somewhat haunted) house by the bay side…

“We’re not burglars! What the hell!” he hissed as he looked around, casually popping the Lure Ball to full size and tossing it forward. He didn’t see the Gyarados emerge from the depths as his attention was all on the small girl with him at the moment.

“Later. Definitely not now, though,” he said as he nodded her way—and then a bolt of Thunder went soaring across, attempting to find purchase on the Blaziken the other side had thrown out.

“Well, you can’t aim that properly without… Kali!” he said, before the Gyarados let out a bellowing roar, and then a gathering of storm clouds appeared above the arena.

A torrential downpour thanks to Rain Dance 0began to fall, helping the Luxray’s aim for its Thunder attack hit better as the Fire-type hissed in disgust at the change of weather—while the Torterra that the other person had thrown out had latched into the sand with an Ingrain.

Even if Lars claims them not to be burglars, they will forever be known as such in Eris' mind. His hiss is met with stick out of her tongue, a raspberry blown as she turns her attention back to the arena and the rain that falls upon their skin. Contrary to popular beliefs, water isn't a good conductor of electricity. It's the impure particles and ions within the liquid that allows the charge to surge through.

Regardless, Eris is most invested in the fact that her partner's pokemon is a Gyarados. Did angelo vestri not tell him of the monstrous Gyarados hunting blood that ran through her veins? She's just itching to throw hands at the leviathan, if it weren't for the knowing look that Reiner shoots her.

Shrugging, Eris points to the skies, tracing the air from the clouds down to the Blaziken as it rushes towards the Luxray for a Blazing Kick. In an instant, lightning rushes down from the skies to hit the Luxray, electricity crackling off his body as he Wildly Charges at his foe.

On the other hand, Torterra begins to shoot Razor Leaves at Kali, punishing her for not taking action just yet.

Much tempted as he was to throw a Thunder attack of his own at the Blaziken, he refrained from doing that—and instead the Gyarados turned her attention to the Torterra.

…who even dared shoot a bunch of leaves at her! The audacity!

The Gyarados bellowed once more, and for once the rain came in handy as the serpentine Pokémon threw out a gale-force Hurricane funnel of wind, aiming at the Grass-type.

Despite being anchored due to Ingrain, the attack was big, powerful, incoming—

And the Blaziken decided to cut ahead and instead head towards the Gyarados in a Sky Uppercut motion—despite the fact there was a howling blast of wind baring down on the opposite side of the field.

Torrential rain is pouring over the battlefield! (2 / 5)

Gyarados tanks the Razor Leaf attack, but is now so pissed she lashes out with gale-force Hurricane wind aimed at the Torterra!

Just before they make contact, the Blaziken turns tail and changes his plans, earning himself a low growl from a rather disgruntled Luxray. Regardless, Reiner doesn't miss Eris' hand signals, cracking his joints as he allows electricity to crackle through his mane.

As he rushes after the Blaziken and slams into him with a bright Spark, the Earth begins to Quake under Torterra's heavy footsteps.

Well, whoever owned the Torterra may have been a bit dumb, because—

“Your Luxray may be in danger,” he said from out of nowhere as the familiar tremors shook the battleground.

Hilariously, Kali had the advantage of being half-Flying (however the hell that happened) and so the Gyarados just gave the Torterra across the field this weird-ass look before roaring.

Taking ‘flight’, the Gyarados decided to bring this to the Torterra, up close and personal with her maw opened wide in an attempt to take a big Crunch out of the stubborn turtle.

The Blaziken, on the other hand, squawked angrily at the impact, and then the shaking ground not too long afterward—before lashing out with an attempt at a Sky Uppercut to send the Luxray flying.

Gyarados just gives a ‘WTF?’ look at the Torterra as she is unaffected by the Earthquake before lunging forward, unfurling like a big-ass living piece of tempura and attempting to take a big Crunch out of the Torterra!

Recognising the tremors, Reiner is quick to move, maintaining his balance even as he weaves past the Blaziken's attack. Once he's clear of the hit, the Luxray shakes furiously, letting out a Wave of Thunder to catch both opponents off guard.

With the Gyarados Crunching down on him, the Torterra lets out a disgruntled huff, swaying the leaves off his body to create a giant Leaf Storm!

The problem with Torterra was that it was half-Ground, so the Thunder Wave attack wouldn’t affect it—however Flying-type attacks, hilariously, would hit twice as hard.

As the Gyarados ended up eating a bunch of leaves, she gave another angry roar before retaliating with a near point-blank Hurricane at the Torterra!

The Blaziken, on the other hand, growled at the Luxray before attempting a Reversal on the Luxray.

Gyarados tanks the Leaf Storm before throwing a near point-blank Hurricane at the Torterra at close range!

A reversal only really works if it lands properly, a kick barely grazing his sides as he gathers energy once more. Then with a roar, Reiner Discharges the electricity in one fell swoop, paralysing the Blaziken with the sudden surge.

The Torterra wouldn't give up on engaging his attacker, opening his maws to Crunch down on Kali's tail out of sheer spite.

“Fu—stupid Torterra,” he caught himself, almost slipping up and cursing within earshot of the much-younger companion.

“Kali! End it quickly!” he called out, before the Gyarados roared angrily again—the rain was going to give out after this turn, and the stupid dual-type was trying to eat her tail.

Her tail!

Another roaring noise before a point-blank Hurricane was thrown at the Torterra; while the Gyarados bore the pain as she tried to shake off her pesky attacker.

Torrential rain is pouring over the battlefield, going out the next turn! (5 / 5)

Gyarados is bitten on the tail by the Torterra, and angry big tempura that she is, whips the Torterra around before throwing another point-blank Hurricane to dislodge the dual-type from her tail!

She seems so proud just speaking the word, hands placed upon her hips as she puffs her chest and looks upon the fight with the smuggest grin. For mere seconds after her exclamation, Reiner pauses to stare at his ward, never breaking his gaze even as he slaps the Blaziken with an electrical Spark.

As the Torterra gets swept up by the Hurricane, it seems to stagger for a short distance before crumbling into a heap. One opponent down, one left to go.

Lars had caught himself and tried not to break out the cuss words but to hear the eleven year old just casually say it without a care in the world was like…

“What—what did you just say?!” he exclaimed, as the rain died down and he turned to face her.

Now that the pesky Torterra had been flung away, there was still the Blaziken to deal with—and just like that, the Gyarados then attempted to blast the dual-type with a surge of Falling Water right in the face.

One tiny little swat left…

Gyarados flings a last-minute Waterfall attack at the Blaziken!
