Blankets rustle with a child's fidgeting, bleary eyes opening with a luminosity that indicates his presence. Outside the window, the sky churns, dark and foreboding as lightning races through the clouds, rain obscuring the once pleasant scenery and turning it into an overgrown forest of nightmares. The night is cold and bleak, harsh whispers of wind inciting a riot as the glass pane rattles with an unusual aggression.

Raising his head, the Luxray listens close, the shallow breaths of his trainer echoing in his ears. Though the fluffy covers may muffle the sounds, he catches a small hiccup, a quiet sniffle that tugs upon his heart. With a sigh, he moves, his tail gently tapping against a power socket as he grabs a corner of the blanket. The room soon lights up with a soft glow, a blue nightlight flickering to life as carefully carved pokemon shapes imprint themselves onto the walls.

He nudges her softly, his snout pushing into her chest as he shifts close enough to huddle under the blanket. The warmth he exudes is plentiful but not quite enough to smother her just yet. And perhaps, it is this warmth that causes her to relax, her breathing soon evening out as her hands unconsciously clutch at his mane. But he doesn't move or resist, letting it happen as he lays his head back down to rest.

Tomorrow will be a new day and a new day always marks a new adventure. For now, they'll sleep and hopefully dream of good things tonight.

"Do you still remember how momma's song used to go, Reiner?" The whispers make her seem so fragile, her hands gently taking hold of his paw as she rubs the back of it for a hint of warmth. "She used to play the accompaniment while I played the melody..."

Of course he remembers, his tail carefully resting itself upon the keys as he presses a note. And he waits, watching and listening as she carefully hovers over another. Finally, she presses it, a beautiful sound echoing through the room and their memories. He presses another note and she responds, the silence melting away as they share this moment.

Of course he remembers, the song beginning to flow as the two work in tandem to put the pieces together. He doesn't want to forget the laughter that had rung through the vanilla-scented halls, the smile that had been on her face as her mother had taught her to play her very first piece.

He keeps his eyes focused on the keyboard, unwilling to tear his gaze away as he continues to help her recreate the melody.

It isn't often that she rouses from her slumber when the moon is still high, her blankets rustling as the Luxray beside her bed twitches. Even through the wilder mane of a male Luxray, she catches the way his ears press backwards and strain to listen for something. He grunts as his tail quietly sweeps across the carpet, the corners of his mouth pulling back every so often to show his teeth.

She sniffs, letting out a quiet sigh as she gets up from her bed with blanket and corsola doll in tow.

To be swept up once more like a mere Shinx, to fall asleep to the tunes of a once forgotten home and to be cradled without knowing of sadness, pain or care. Paint never smells nice when it's first applied, the hard scent overwhelming her senses even through the mask she wears. Her paintbrush dances from bucket to wall, delicately following the outlines of a dream as she carefully paints a story to life.

Little woopers that dance amongst the rain and lilypads, dragons that spiral over the doorway and wage war against their counterparts. The giants loom over the mountains, clouds speckled with promises of a secret island and bathed in showers of spring. Shaymins hop within fields of flowers and golden honey, all under the watchful eyes of the guardian of life. Death lingers as a peaceful spectre at slumber, curled around its bed of hopes and dreams.

The adventures they'd been promised, the desire to seek the truth of the world entangled with her future. Her fingers are tainted with a precious hope that burns quiet, colours dying her palms as she accidentally rests her hand on small edges of her piece.

Of course, Reiner's there by her side, growling a little as he painstakingly manipulates his brush within his maws. His mane's a little more vibrant than usual, glitter and chalk dusted between locks of his hair as his paws step into the tiny patches of paint dripped onto the ground.

"That's a pretty Wailmer you got there, Reiner!"

Paint never smells nice when it's first applied.

"What do you mean that's not a Wailmer? That's Cresselia?? Well, I guess she does look like a banana..."

day 1, probably league hq

Someone in Rocket told me it'd help to try and write out things that I don't understand so I can organise things better and try to find proper answers, so I'm gonna try and do that.

Stuff that went wrong today:

Arrested by the League
Stuck in prison and Reiner has no powers
Yelled at Melody Miro
Tried to defend Cillian Quinn?
Didn't get to hear anything about pa

Why things went wrong:

I'm weak
Couldn't control my temper
~~Don't know why I thought Melody would listen or care~~ she's too involved. hates them. probably wont listen
Let bad Eris say stuff I don't know if I mean. Maybe I did

What to do now:

Think about things → Why did I defend Gavin? ~~guilt?~~ because he was trying to protect the other people in rocket / because i like him? why?
~~Apologise~~ Melody won't ever listen
Try to find a way to reach pa if he's alive.
