Okay, so whoever thought of making an outdoor ‘winter wonderland’ was certainly nuts in the head.

Considering that this was the Slateport Beach, it was summer, the ice was going to inevitably melt.

Somehow, though, someone had managed to get an arena set up in one of the shaded areas of the beach where Ice-type Pokémon were very much welcome to play.

…and where was Lars?

Somewhere here, of course!

He wondered if there was anyone wacky enough to come join him here and cool down while waiting for a challenger to come by and try their luck.

“It’s a miracle this arena is still standing despite the terrible heat,” he agreed as he pat the sleeping Aurorus that was lounging about. The general hot summer weather really put Ice-types at a disadvantage, however this special ‘arena’ was nothing short of a miracle.

“At least they get to cool down,” he added before stretching his arms above him for a few moments.

“Looking for a fight? Or we can make this like a snow-building contest. Have our Ice-types supply the snow and shit. Best-looking snow structure, or sculpture, or whatever we make at the end wins. What do you think?”

There were options available—his Aurorus knew Hail and could summon as much snow as they needed after all.

“That’s alright with me,” and with another nudging, the Aurorus woke up from her slumber.

“Give us some snow here, will you?” he asked, patting the cold skin of the dinosaur gently, before the Aurorus hummed slightly and stamped one of her feet on the ground.

The sweltering heat was then replaced with an arena-encompassing winter wonderland of Hail.

“Move around a bit, I’m going to get us more snow,” he called out to the other man before the Aurorus followed up with a Blizzard.

The snow began to fall in earnest; and since both of their Pokémon were Ice-types, it wouldn’t matter much anyway.

“Let’s start!”

Now this was going to be an exercise of—the lack of creativity that Lars had.

While the snowdrifts were piling high in earnest thanks to the Blizzard from the Aurorus earlier, there wasn’t enough snow on his side of the field—at least not yet.

More of the cold wind blew, before there was enough snow near where the two were.

“Let’s go.”

Forgetting the fact that he was supposed to downplay what he was capable of, he then made a grab for the snow with his bare hands and began to pile it.

He would need some time to think—how would he… oh.

Oh.

He then got an idea.

“More snow, please,” he said to the Aurorus, who then summoned one more Blizzard to fall down around them and ‘create’ even more snow for them to use.

“You’re welcome!” he called out from his side of the field as he began to cobble together the foundation of what he was planning.

Even if he held the place with so much contempt, he started to ‘build’ the three layers of what he had envisioned.

Taking his time as the first layer of the City in the Crater began to appear from the layers of snow.

The Aurorus watched from her vantage point, curious.

As chunks of ice and snow continued to fall around the area, people started to gather. The Aurorus was still watching from where she was resting, yawning a little—she may need to renew the Hail storm in a couple minutes—

The ‘ground’ layer complete, Lars then built up another mountain behind the first, trying to pick out the buildings and stairs from memory.

While some of the steps weren’t in the positions he remembered, the second ‘ring’ of the Crater City was slowly forming.

Once the second layer was complete, he looked around and saw that there was—there wasn’t enough snow.

“One more, please,” to the Aurorus, who nodded and dropped one more Blizzard for them to have more snow to use.

After another snowdrift high enough near him had formed, he began carrying snow with his hands, not caring if it was so cold, and then began building the third ring of the city.

The center of the ‘lake’ would come later.

And there were more people gathering, watching the two and sneakily taking pictures as well.

Once the third level was complete, there was mercifully still enough snow for him to make the ‘crater’ proper to ring the city.

While it wasn’t going to encircle his creation completely, he’d have to do it in a ‘cross-section diagram’ formation, showing the interior of the city.

As the hail storm died down, he then smoothed out the bottom of the ‘ground layer’ and began to cobble together what he remembered was Balder’s former gym sitting in the center of the lake.

Hail fades!

The ‘Snow’-o-polis is almost complete!
