"Don't think I'll be trying this again anytime soon." Doug said with a laugh as he swiped his arm across his chin, eyes narrowed and smile as confident as it was tired.

Junior the Machop, similarly, seemed rather confident despite standing at half the size of the second shortest fighter in the field, his grin possessing an eager edge to it as he brought both fists to his sides and breathed in sharply, his pectoral muscles and biceps enlarging sharply before he roared!

"Darn right! We didn't come this far just to lose- sen'em flying, junior!"

Across the fields, their opponents, a Coalossal and a Unfezant, roared and sneered back in response.

With a partner that sounded so determined, Doug felt borderline invincible!

"Awright, let's do this! We can tell Ms. Cait all 'bout it after!" The youth said cheerfully as he pumped his fist in the air.

Their opponents, however, felt equally strongly about everything going down- they had dealt with the long ass fight just as much as the main characters had, and deserved this win!

Their orders were shouted, and the pokemon leapt to action, eager to deliver victory to their trainers.

The Unfeazant was fast- and it wasn't even flying! Running top speed directly at the duo, it leapt high in the air and spread its wings before flapping strongly, a surge of speed sending it hurtling down towards Junior-

Before its wings spread once again just as the fighter went to intercept the blow, his eyes growing wide as his hands swung and caught nothing. His face, however, caught a faceful of claws, the little guy reeling back with a flinch!

Just as he did, Coalossal's arm rose towards the duo and blasted a massive fire star at them!

The Machop was steadfast, snapping out of it before jumping at his ally at the last second to try and push them out of the way, slapping them in the back for SPIRIT as the blazes slammed on a rock on the battlefield.

They had this!

He grinned wide at Senon's praise, rubbing his nose with a light flush!

"Thanks! And ya ain't seen nothing yet!" The youth assured, before turning his attention to the battle and sweeping his arm.

The bird was problem for Junior and the Scolipede alike- he didn't know what Senon's pokemon had in store, but Junior did not have the coverage to deal much damage to flying types.

Luckily for them, there was big, hot walking boulder trying to fry them right there.

As the Unfeazant rose in the air and attempted swung its wings down upon Junior, the little jumped and rolled out of the way of the wind blades released, sweat rolling down his cheek.

For its part, the Coalossal chose to focus on the pokemon it had advantage over, shooting blast after blast of fire after the fast rolling Scolipede, each shot missing but getting more accurate with each successive attempt!

"Heck of an annoying bird, eh Junior? How about we find a big, ugly stone to shoot it down with?" Doug said with a grin to Junior, dragging a grin from the Machop.

He dashed forth as two more blades of wind came after him, leaving in his path a trail of cuts running along the earth while he made a dash for the fire blastin' Coalossal...

And upon reaching it, slapped his arms around it, prompting it to stop its shooting in shock.

The little guy's muscles bulged impressively as he twisted on his heel and roared, swinging the large rock(-type) at the Unfeazant to its squwacking shock!

"Fine by me! That one's a little too flighty for us anyway!" Doug said with a chuckle, tipping his hat slightly. JD was a new one, but he had to admit: He quite liked it!

The Unfeazant squwacked inelegantly when it was suddenly rammed into by the Scolipede the sent hurling aside before it managed to right itself- only to have its own partner thrown at it, the Coalossal slamming into it before flattening it against the floors.

Angrily, the Unfeazant attempted to throw it off, to little avail; the massive hunk of rocks picked itself up but a few moments later, glaring at the Machop furiously before unleashing a roar that shook the earth, throwing itself back at the little guy whilst covered in flames!

Junior responded by breathing in deep before his torso suddenly broadened once again, stomping down on the floors to dig his heels as he prepared to intercept!

The Unfeazant for it part, flapped its wings to push off the floors once the giant was off it, glaring at its own companion acidly for a moment before turning its anger onto the bug-type.

Rearing back, the bird flapped its wings once again- and Doug's hat nearly flew off his head in response, the entire arena feeling the sudden weight of a powerful gale upon them!

Against such power, and against typing advantage at that, the Unfeazant could not bring itself back to its feet after taking the blow, crumpling to the ground.

Passed out, it was returned back to its pokeball, leaving the Coalossal entirely on its own.

To which its trainer said...

COALOSSAL- MEGA EVOLVE!

Light broke through the trainer's mega accessory, before the Coalossal was enveloped in a cocoon. Not a second later, it broke out larger, stronger and meaner, the arena's temperature easily doubling as it reared back and roared.

Before such a display, Junior could only flinch, before suckling in a deep breath and bulking up some more. It was nowhere nearly enough- but there was no choice!

The coalossal unleashed a gargantuan roar that shook the very arena before it threw its fully body weight against the Incredible power of the Scolipede's roll out.

A booming that made the air pop out of Doug's ears whipped across the battle tent, the trainers thrown off their feet, the people on the bleachers pushed back onto their chairs.

The Coalossal's hands were wrapped around the Scolipede's spinning form, grinding away like steel on a grinding wheel, the pokemon roaring as it attempted to stop the other with incredible physical might and Super power.

The heat within its inner furnace increased eth every second, the sound coming out of its mouth akin to a locomotive's exhaust-!

"Junior!" Screamed Doug- "GO!"

Junior came flying into the heated terrain, arm reeled back as he cracked his palm across the Scolipede, giving her some SPIRIT!

The gargantuan pokemon had lost, it realized moments before it fainted. It had no measures to deal with something like this. As its body armor was peeled away bit by bit, grind to dust, the Coalossal came to be at peace with this conclusion, accepting the outcome as it was thrown off its feet and its back met the floors, getting a good look at the dark blue skies of the night.

Its trainer, on the other hand, was a screeching mess; poor guy had gone through the bloody gauntlet for nothing.

The light of Mega evolution flashed and faded through the night one last time, and a regular, KOd Coalossal was left were a towering beast once stood.

Junior fell on his ass, his legs giving way under him as he realized that it was over. Finally, the gauntlet was-

"IT'S OVER!" Screamed Doug in absolute delight as he threw his arms around Senon and tried to haul the man in the air in a hug, swinging around on his heels.

That had, by far, been the most intense, brutal endurance match the youth had ever undergone- and that was in a tournament were he had faced the bloody Champion.

"We won!!!"
