What is it with all these pretty ladies.

No, really, did every single pretty person in the world live in Hoenn? Emma Wolfe, Commissioner dahlia goode, this lady, her... he really stood no chance.

"Pleasure to make your acquaintance, miss!" The youth said as he tipped his cap, thumbing a net ball tentatively as he tried to size her up without, uh... sizing her up; unfortunately, if there were any clues as to her typing or tactical preferences hidden within her clothes, he could not spot them.

"I'm Captain Sullivan, Gym Leader of Mauville. Let's give everyone a show worth watchin'!" He said, trying to get back into his showmanship groove, swinging his arm skyward.

Almost as if waiting for the signal, a roar rose from at the battle tent's bleachers.

What is it with all these pretty ladies.

Doug smiled, before shifting his gaze to the woman's Frosmoth. One of his favorite pokemon, he would make sure it had en enjoyable match.

He threw out his own netball, releasing his Accelgor onto the field, the pokemon landing in a crouch before bowing to both its opponents.

"Thank ya kindly, Ms. Aria- We shall!" The youth said, before sweeping his arm dramatically. "Go! Start things off with some Acid Spray!"

Shield Dust or Icy Scales, either could be incredibly bothersome to deal with- best try to nip in the bud early!

[attr="class","aria"]miss aria makes her sound like she's much older than she is. but she chuckles at it, brushing the thought away with a gentle smile.

frosmoth is hit with ACID SPRAY, though her SHIELD DUST protects her scales from corroding away.

"ouch. it's a bit warm here, don't you think, frosmoth?"

warm is an understatement. either way, a HAIL forms, cooling the area.

"Oh, I like that." Doug said as he took off his cap, flapping it towards him with a smile. "Finally something other than bloody sunny day!"

Slightly hypocritical, given his own strategical tendencies throughout the tournament.

Still, pleasant as the cold is in the middle of a hot summer, Namegon finds no joy in having to try and dodge the hail, finding it incredibly cumbersome. As he gets bonked in the head, he harrumphed, leaping back and out of the way of more falling ice while his hands flipped through a series of hand seals.

Before the humidity in the air around it suddenly condensed into watery shuriken, shooting out towards the Frosmoth!

it's tough enough to battle out here in the sun but with the addition of abilities like DROUGHT? crazy.

the WATER SHURIKEN cuts through the air, slicing across one of frosmoth's wings. the bug-type cries out in pain, but remains determined to counter.

"slow them down, frosmoth!"

frosmoth flutters her wings, scattering a STUN SPORE across the battlefield.

Indeed! Absolutely awful. It's like people wanted the heatstroke.

Namegon felt a measure of relief when it's strike hit, and prepared to leap out of the way as the opponent prepared to counter-

And then, got clobbered across the head by hail just as he went to leap, losing his balance and face planting onto the floor with a grunt, getting clobbered further by the hail the process.

And then the spore fell upon him, and be could not move.

So the hail continued to clobber him.

Doug cringed at the slew of back to back bad luck.

"Hang in there, man!"

What is it with all these pretty ladies.

Today was not its day, the Accelgor decided as he saw the torrent of snow and bloody HAIL barreling at him.

Doug's voice rang out.

"Water Shuriken!" He ordered, prompting his Pokemon's mind to race for the logic behind it while it sluggishly went through the hand signs- there always was one with his trainer.

It arrived at the conclusion just in the nick of time- with the bloody avalanche threatening to swallow him up.

Clapping his arms together, the humidity around him condensed once again, forming a bubble around him instead of Shuriken as the ice crashed upon him.

Heart beating fast, there was a sense of relief as the Accelgor found himself inside an ice bubble. It was cold, but it hadn't gotten itself KO'd at least.

And just like that, his shield became a dangerous prison instead.

The icy walls shivvered and cracked as the buzz spread over the battlefield. Sweat rolled down the Accelgor's cheeks despite the cold, and it crossed its arms over its chest as it exploded, showering him in frost before letting the buzz strike at him, sending him hurtling back across the arena.

"You good to fight still?!" Doug rang after his Accelgor, who slowly, jerkily picked himself up, huffing and puffing. "Hn... Let's even the scales a bit- Toxic Spikes!"

The Accelgor swung out its arms in a broad spread, releasing a series of poisonous senbon towards the Frosmoth!

They hit! Good! Now, if he could only-!

A squeal left the Accelgor as a blast of ice swept over him like an ocean wave, rolling him through within the snow before spatting him out onto the field, his body bouncing off across the floors until he came to a grinding halt, wheezing for breath.

Weakly, it began making seals, before clapping its hands together. An ancient ninja technique known for allowing one to ignore their own injuries flowed over him...

Otherwise known as Recovery. However, this late in the game, it was practically a one use trick for him; it was not so simple to have one's body repair itself out nowhere.

Forcing himself back to his feet, the pokemon lowered his stance, dug his heels, and prepared for one final move, eyes narrowing in focus.

frosmoth hangs back as an AURORA VEIL shimmers overhead, and though it'll protect against future attacks, it does little to counter the POISON that continues to eat away.
