she couldn't help remark on his words. the way he was hesitant and stiff. Tallulah hadn't ever considered being an Avatar. she knew most humans probably thought about it, hoped and dreamed. but not her. she never thought what she'd do if a Legendary looked her way.

probably the same thing as now.

"I should have captured it" she adds to the Glalie talk "find it an owner. someone who can train it. wrangle it." her eyes drift over the Snorunt before continuing on.

Earlier, it was a Dewgong.

Now, a Spheal was engaged in equally crazy shenanigans as it rolled across the sheet of ice not too far ahead of them.

“Well, at least look at all the playful Pokémon that’ve started coming out now,” he remarked with a chuckle. “Normally when I look for Ice-types down here they’re all either scared shitless or just don’t want to come out. It’s… kind of weird, really.”

As for that Glalie?

“I think it wants just my blood… see, something happened in this very cave, a year or so ago now, that may have set it off to go act like that,” he remarked.

Even if the deity wasn’t around, he was very sure about the hypothesis he’d noticed about this particular Pokémon.

“It’s always come after me. Just me. I almost… slipped and fell into a frozen lake just last year had I not managed to get off the ice in time.”

The clapping sounds of the Spheal were getting more and more distant the further they traveled.

either way. "we should still capture it" Tallulah remarks to the Head Ranger "if it's that violent, it could hurt someone else when you're not around. maybe it has, and the victims aren't saying anything." part of their job was to rehabilitate Pokémon. if it showed up again, she'd battle it. try to capture it. Rusty gives a nicker of approval.

"did you become an Avatar a year ago or...?" she adds, since he brought it up. an incident a year ago... she could only assume. Tallulah notices the Jynx peering out at them from behind a few rocks, but does nothing. her and her Mudsdale continue on with Lars, not caring if it was cold. the hardy equine was better equipped for the cold than Tallulah though.

“Around this time last year, yeah,” he remarked as a Bergmite wandered around, poking at a pillar of ice and trying to gouge out a hole within it.

“That was the time I met that Glalie. Clearly it wanted a piece of me, and it hasn’t stopped chasing me ever since.”

As they left the Bergmite behind, he stopped for a bit, pondering on what she had said.

“That’s a former alpha Pokémon you’d be dealing with,” he said at last. “Reminds me of the time I had to rein in an Abomasnow because it had kidnapped and ate some kids…”

To be honest he was still at a loss on how to deal with Koude, but there was very slow progress being made ever since he’d been bringing down the Abomasnow to meet with the…deity.

“Why former alpha, though, you may be wondering,” he continued.

“…that’s because there’s another alpha Pokémon around these parts. Thankfully, they’re not going to attack us—as long as you stay close to me.”

Tallulah chuckles. "I grew up on a farm" she tells the man "we dealt with our fair shake of stubborn Pokémon" and during Ranger duties, she had come across various 'alpha' critters "they don't scare me easy."

the Frosmoth would drift over their heads. Tallulah raises a hand to touch the soft underbelly of the frost insect gently before it flies away. "is the other alpha... your Legendary?" she asks him.

“At least you know how to handle yourself around any rampaging ‘alphas’ when we do come across them again,” he said with a chuckle as this time he saw a Phanpy sniffing around the frozen ground.

Probably looking for truffles, this one.

“Basically, yeah. Although they don’t like to brag about it,” he continued with an embarrassed grin.

‘Oh, shut up.’

‘This is payback for all the times you’ve snarked me! My turn now!’ he thought as this mysterious smirk flashed across his features for a few moments before they continued deeper into the cave.

“They just sassed me. I lucked out and got the chatty one.”

"are they" she speaks again, her eyes drifting over the Mr Rime briefly. recalling her friend (misha altru) from the carnival, Tallulah was struck by old memories "Articuno?" a wild but accurate guess. not many legends would like the caves here and also be an icy alpha. tales of the avian leading others lost played in her mind.

Rusty marches forward before breaking into a canter. he shoots into the Mr Rime, damaging the icy mime. it's clear the Mudsdale is quite well trained, for it easily fells the wild Pokémon. Tallulah would toss a Pokeball at it, intending to capture. "I've never met a Legendary, despite being from Alola. the people believe Legendary Pokémon watch us closely there."

sometimes interfering, like all Legends do in a way.

At the sight of the Mamoswine, he reached out to give the gentle giant a pat on one of its hind legs before it lumbered off deeper into the caves, most likely to look for truffles.

He idly wondered—what was up with all the legendaries just manifesting from out of nowhere.

It was—crazy, to put it simply.

The Cubone that had wandered by looked like it was about to cry, was it looking for some—oh, no.

Lars remembered the lore for this particular Pokémon a little too well; only because they had a tendency to start crying whenever they remembered something that reminded them of their deceased parent—hell, some of the more morbid lore even postulated that the skull it wore on its head was the skull of a dead parent.

“Oh, no. No, please, don’t—cry,” he said with a sigh as the Cubone began to wail.

Never mind if he was going to be breaking protocol so quickly, he rushed over to the Cubone with a complete and total disregard for the Beartic that was most likely scavenging for food in the background as he cradled the crying Ground-type close.

“Shit, what happened to you?” he asked quietly, patting the Cubone gently on its head. “Look, don’t cry, okay? You—oh, no,” he remarked as he turned to face the Beartic—it looked familiar to him.

He heard some growling from the Ice-type, but thankfully the snarky voice was there to translate.

‘They found the Cubone crying somewhere, and even if he has kids of his own, he knows he can’t take care of it,’ he heard the deity translate for him.

‘Wait, what?’

‘You heard me. That Beartic’s one of the nicer ones around the cave, he’s a bit of a worrywart father for his own cubs. I’ve seen the kids run around a few times close to where I reside.’

‘Oh?’

‘What, you doubt me?’

‘No, it’s not that, it’s just—’

“Hey, don’t cry, okay? I’m…here,” he continued haltingly, before the Beartic nodded in his direction and lumbered off. Now that the Cubone had been delivered to the only willing human that majority of the Ice-types seemed to trust, well…

“No more tears, okay?”
