leon sinks beneath the scalding waters, his movements robotic, and apathetic. it felt decent, the cripple had to admit, but even that felt numb.

his fingers twitch, already clammy from sweating, and the bags under his eyes tell the story of another restless night.

he prays — begs — for even a few moments of relaxation.

he knows it'll never come.

his ears perk, and eyes follow, as they land on the woman. she was beautiful, and barely covering the bits and pieces that caused him to stir.

"ana?"

it was dry, as if he hadn't talked in days. clearing his throat, he tries again.

"i wasn't expecting company."

he remembers her from the bar. their conversation was one of the only moments of peace he had that day. to see her here? now? god, how weak he must look.

she approaches and he makes no move to stop her, only shying beneath her intense blue gaze.

he makes a pointed effort to steer his gaze away, pale skinned, but sharp cheekbones stab in her direction. only when she settles in, and even then, he gives her a few seconds to find comfort among the subtle haze of steam and warm water, does he train his attention back onto her.

"a drink?"

he sweeps his only arm in the direction of the alcohol, the length of it tracing over the waters surface. if he couldn't take his usual vice, he'd settle for another more socially accepted one for now.
