At first, she walks quietly, stepping onto white sand. Then a deep breath is taken to relish in the scent of the ocean, it having become all too familiar after moving to Mossdeep.

not that he particularly minds. if anything, he finds it oddly endearing.

the beach is nice, quiet, and it makes their walk all the more peaceful. he's thankful for it, too, as he remembers how she hates crowds.

"depends who i'm with, i guess. with my family, i usually just chill and tan but with my friends, we usually surf or play volleyball."

it's been a while since he's done either. looking over to her, he asks the same question:

She should have expected as much, and as he says it, it’s not hard to imagine what Uri’s volleyball matches are like – probably stupid and loud. Then again, Sol herself has played beach volleyball a few times, so who is she to judge?

”Other than enjoying the look of dread my troops have when running on sand?” She smirks, obviously joking, especially considering that running on the beach is also something she does.

Her words are followed by a shrug.

”I mostly go to the beach alone, so it’s usually playing with my pokémon and training them, along with running and swimming. Never been
a fan of tanning, though sometimes I read a book in the shade.”

her joke makes him think back to her ardous training sessions and to that time she made him do push-ups. despite the unpleasantness of the push-ups and the running, it was actually not such a bad day.

another laugh escapes him.

"what other pokemon do you have? besides your lycanroc."

Painful, and also exactly the kind of thing that would happen to Uri for being careless.

She sighs, and in spur of the moment decision, she pauses in order to take off her sandals, then simply holding onto them as she steps closer to the water.

”Oh. You haven’t met them? I have a few dog pokémon… Houndoom, Houndour, Arcanine, Stoutland, Manectric, all of that. I also have a Skiddo at home.”

fuck, the sunburns he's had in his lifetime have been horrible. he glances up, thankful that the sun isn't too bright out today.

her response has him chuckling.

he kicks off his flip flops and reaches down to carry them as well, straying off to the side with her, closer to the water.

"i still have no idea why kachow likes you so much. he's not a dog, last i checked."

Yet, at his next comment, Sol looks at him, an eyebrow being raised no more than a second before punching his arm “gently” (which, of course, is never really all that gentle at all).

”Take that back, she’s not random. Her name is Gerd and she’s adorable.”

Sol knows what he means, obviously, considering most of her other pokémon are dogs, but still, no one insults her adorable little Skiddo.

”Maybe he’s one in spirit. Maybe he just has good taste.”
[break][break]
As she says this, she steps into the water, allowing it to reach her ankles. It’s cold, but it’s an enjoyable and refreshing kind of cold.

still, he pouts, just in time to get punched in his arm, and it's definitely not gentle.

"ow okay, okay, i take it back. i'm sure she's adorable."

it's still pretty random, though. a goat in the house? wild.

he smiles as she steps into the water only to have an idea flutter into existence. he drops his flip-flops and the bottle of water onto the sand, safe from the water, and pulls out his phone and wallet to lay them beside it.

turning back to her, he grins, nodding toward the water.

"wanna go for a quick dip?"

he reaches for her arm briefly only to tug her forward, going a little bit deeper into the water. waves splash against him, coming up to his knees.

He grabs her arm, but Sol doesn’t stop him, allowing him to pull her towards the water. If anything, she’s glad she decided to wear shorts today, because soon enough the water is splashing against her knees, and then her thighs as well.

”...My clothes are going to get wet if we go any farther.”

It’s a passing comment and nothing more, because the truth is that she wouldn’t mind all that much. Salt water can be annoying, but she has never been the type to mind that kind of stuff.

This is nice. She even offers him one of her ever-elusive smiles.

they've barely gone past like ten steps from shore. he's exaggerating, but still.

he turns to look at her, sighing.

"but i got you."

and splashes water over at her.

Of course Uri is not careful, he’s like a kid rushing into the water. She rolls her eyes at it, but there’s a quiet chuckle that comes with it, even if she does pause when they’ve gone what she considers to be ‘far enough’.

He splashes her before she can finish the sentence, and she’s left staring at him, her expression deadpan and cold while droplets of water now drip down from her skin.
