✦ REALITY IS STRANGER THAN FICTION

The white steam that brewing up from beneath the body of hot water engulf Lyssa as she let her whole body excluding her head to submerge. A relaxed sigh escapes from the mouth of the woman, playing around with the wooden basket that floats around her. The basket itself holds no significance to it but the contents are two bottles of sake and two empty cups waiting for Lyssa to consume. Enjoying the hot spring alongside with the sake is the meaning of bliss for Lyssa, 'I hope the milk hasn't run out once I have gone out from here' Lyssa thought to herself, letting her body rest upon one of the walls facing the opposite way of the entrance door.

Skyler disliked Lavaridge. She didn't have anything against the city itself, but rather its location. Nearly as far away as one could be from the ocean, whenever the ship captain had to conduct business in the mountainside town, she would inevitable take a detour to the hot spring.

It'd been that way since the Sootopolis event, and it'd been the only way she found out to fight the sudden weakness in her body whenever she left the ocean behind.

So it's no surprise that Eylyssa Kay would soon find some company in the hot springs, a shadow falling over her. Should she look, she'd find bright silver eyes peering down at her along with a faint, lopsided smile. "Hope you don't mind me interrupting. Just goin' to soak for a bit, feel free to ignore me."

Her first contact with the water prompts a hum of pleasure from the woman, sun-kissed skin disappearing beneath the surface. Only the very tips of large scars emerge, visible, from the surface. Leaning her head back in utter relaxation, sharp eyes would open just a sliver to peek at the floating basket and its contents.

"That all for you?"

Lyssa is lost in the sea of bright silvery eyes that the woman has, a sign of beauty peer down right to her as she greets her with a lopsided smile. She quickly noted about the sake that she brought, Lyssa smiles and pours the sake into the empty cup and offers it to the lady."It was until you came in" Lyssa says it jokingly with a little laughter coming out from her. Lyssa take a quick sip and emptied out her own cup to fill it again. "Then again, drinking would taste better if there is a companion, wouldn't it? The name is Eylyssa Kay, but you can call me Lyssa" Lyssa introduces herself.

Laughter bubbles forth from the silver-eyed woman, unashamedly loud and joyous. Uncaring for whoever might hear it. "Is that so?" The curve of her lips grows impish. A good-natured sort of mischief gleams in her eyes as she regards the other woman. "Lucky me."

Skyler doesn't hesitate to take the sake from the woman's hand (Lyssa, apparently), taking only a moment to smell the alcoholic liquid before tipping the cup back, drinking its contents in one fell swoop.

Sailors know how to handle their drink and Captain Dross is no exception.

"Skyler Dross," she says with a flash of teeth, reaching a scarred hand to Eylyssa for a handshake, the motion worn smooth by the countless times she'd done it before. "Ship captain and treasure hunter"

From many people, the people who can find joy from the little thing is the kind of person that Lyssa appreciates the most and from her quick observation - Skyler is one of them. Without any pause, Lyssa refills the empty cup of Skyler's once she finished downing it. "Captain o' captain" Lyssa calls Skyler once she is made aware of her status. "A captain such as you must have some shares of adventures on the open seas. Would you mind for me to ask one or two stories of your adventure to accompany this great drink and cozy temperature of this hot spring?" Lyssa says dramatically, wanting to have fun even in the hot spring.

Suddenly, Siren comes out from her Pokeball that she sets away outside and finds her way into the hot springs. With a swift movement - Siren submerges to the hot spring and swims right towards Skyler and Lyssa. "Oh does Siren also want to hear the story?" Lyssa asks, caressing the cheek of the Primarina that just casually come in between them, which she answers with a nod.

Skyler's expression turns thoughtful behind the rim of her sake cup, delightfully refilled by a much generous Lyssa. "I do have some stories to tell." Not all of them suitable for discussion with a stranger either. Due to the nature of her job, many of the tasks the overtook were, from a legal standpoint, clearly suspicious. Regardless, Skyler leans back into a comfortable position, letting the sake wet her tongue with a hum of pleasure before she starts speaking.

"You'd think that the ocean would be big enough that you wouldn't find other treasure hunters. But I've had my fair share of close calls." She straightens up, pushing her torso above the water as she points to a round scar close to her collarbone. "This here was a harpoon. Hurt like a bitch. Thankfully it didn't go all the way through." Many more scars decorated her body, though she didn't have stories for them all. "I was hunting a recent shipwreck when a couple of guys ambushed me. News travels fast, so you gotta be fast or be left with the scraps."

She puctuates her last words with a long sip of sake, lopsided grin in place as she leans in Lyssa's direction and waves her sake cup playfully. "More?" More than familiar with all sorts of water types, Skyler isn't startled by the Primarina's sudden appearance, reaching an arm out to pat Siren's head.

The story that is being told by Skylar is quite exhilarating and fun to listen to, that sentiment is also carried by Siren that recklessly scatters the hot water everywhere by clapping energetically. "H-Hey, w-wait, Si-Siren calm down! pft" Lyssa struggles to finish her sentence as the water keeps entering her mouth whenever she tries to talk. Not only once but twice, Lyssa try to spat the water that sneaks their way into the edge of the springs - It leaves a rather weird taste on her tongue. Gradually, Siren finally calms down and looks at Lyssa weirdly, Lyssa can only laugh and pinch the cheek and stretch it until Siren lets out a pained cry.

"Protip, don't swallow the hot spring water. It taste awful" Lyssa says casually with a snicker. Thankfully the basket and the bottle of sake are safe from the ruckus from earlier. She downed a cup once again the refill Skyler's cup. "I heard that sailor has strong liver so they can drink a lot of alcohol. Is that true, Captain Skyler?" Lyssa asks while she is pouring the sake to Skyler.

Skyler, who'd already all but inhaled the hot spring water in her other visits to this place, grinned widely. "Tastes horrible, right? First time I made that mistake the smell of rotten eggs followed me around for a whole damn week." Just like her kitchen whenever she attempts to cook some of her infamous Gulpin Green Egg Sandwiches™.

She makes sure to protect the wonderful sake from Primarina's excitement, using her body to cover the whole floating set. "Here you go." The basket floats up to Eylyssa, who pours Sky another cup. "Thanks." She raises her cup at Lyssa in a toast before letting the liquid slide down her throat, refreshing. It almost comes back out again at Lyssa's question as laughter fights its way to escape her mouth.

"Sailors do drink a lot, that's true. And there's plenty of establishments close to the docks more than happy to relieve us of our hard-earned money." Calloused fingers motion to the sake, a wry grin curling mischievous lips. "And my liver still hasn't given up on me. But we could always test it out."

Silver eyes alight with trouble, Skyler leans in Lyssa's direction, pitching her voice low as if confessing to a secret. "How much of this d'you think you can drink?" Her tone means to suggest not a lot.

And just like that, a challenge is thrown at Eylyssa's feet.

CHALLENGE from many things, Lyssa never runs from a challenge that is imposed on her. Lyssa stares at the two small bottle of sake that one of them is already greatly diminished.

"Definitely more than we have left right now. I hardly able to get drunk from drinking sake." Lyssa smirks understading where this is going. "If I knew that I would get a challenged for a drinking game today, I would have bring a stronger one with me." Lyssa muse for a moment trying to think on how they can procure more alcohol beverages.

"Any idea?"

"Couple of them, actually." Skyler stretches to reach somewhere behind where she is sitting, fingers grasping at nothing before they grasp onto a slick, smooth surface. "Aha!"

She presents the object with a flourish, though it is nothing to marvel at. Gripped in her hand is what appears to be a metal flask, and as she waves it around the sound of sloshing can be heard from within. "We can finish the sake and start on the tequila." Cheap one at that that would be certain to knock anyone off their butt by its fumes alone.

"The other idea would be to get more sake, which we could do later I s'ppose. If you can survive the tequila." Long nights spent in drunken hazes give Skyler a special kind of confidence, reflected in the insolent pull of her lips.

As if to further cement her drinking superiority, she empties her sake cup in one fell swoop and waits for Lyssa to fill it up with a quirked eyebrow, silently teasing.

With the appearance of tequila on the hand of Skyler, a huge smirk comes out from the mouth Lyssa. She quickly takes a shot to the sake that she poured into her cup earlier then divides the content of the two bottles of sake equally. Since this is going to be a drinking contest, she going to forgo all of the good manners and go straight to the bottle. She hands out the bottle to Skyler, "Race on emptying the bottle? Whatcha' say?" Lyssa challenges Skyler.

"Oh, you're on."

Helpless to refuse the challenge that is thrown at her, Skyler eagerly accepts the bottle that is nudged her way. She doesn't seem at all put out by the idea of drinking directly from a bottle, having done that very same thing countless times in the past.

Smirking mischievously behind the rounded shape of the bottle, the sailor leans back against the edges of the pool - confidence pouring from her deliberately relaxed stance. Like she's already won.

"Bad idea to challenge a sailor to a drinkin' contest, you know." Before she can wet her lips with the taste of sake Skyler leans forward into Eylyssa's direction, silver eyes catching the ambient light. "What do you say about a little bet? To make things more interesting."

Skyler takes it like a champ and without wasting any time - she emptied out the bottle. Not wanting to get left behind, Lyssa follows the suit and dumps all the liquid from the bottle straight to her throat. The warmth feeling quickly fills out inside her body, she can feel her cheeks flushed from the alcohol but this is still far from her limit. Lyssa let out a loud and long exclaim of content from consuming the sake. "Story told that if a human can outdrink a dwarf, then a land dweller can outdrink sailor!" Lyssa challenges Skyler's claim playfully, raising her empty bottle upside down to prove it is truly empty. Call it adrenaline, euphoria, or the alcohol that do the talking right now but when Lyssa hears about a bet - Her eyes start to sparkle. She is a traveler after all - She wouldn't get scared from an unknown like this.

"Bet? What kind of bet?" Lyssa stares at Skyler and ask.

"Alright, so." A sake bottle is waved around to emphasize Skyler's words, thankfully empty now that she's drank it all. Sun-kissed cheeks bloom with the very first beginnings of a blush, doubtlessly put there by the alcohol she'd just consumed. "We'll dare the other to do something outrageous if we win. Loser has to do it, 'course. No backing down."

Challenges always bring something wild and predatory to the surface of Skyler's psyche, and that becomes obvious in the flash of teeth and the proud set of her chin. Confidence gathers at the edges of a shit-eating grin.

Grasped in her hand, the flask is brought to her mouth, shitty tequila soon burning a path down her throat.

"Don't overdo it." The tease slips, unabashed, from her lips. Playfully daring Eylyssa to drink even more as the flask is passed over.
