There wasn’t much else to do in Slateport City on such a precipitous evening except head to one of their many drinking establishments, not that he’d wanted to do anything else. It was just nice to have an excuse, you know? He’d scoop up the glass in front of him and offer a thankful nod to the bartender, fortunately going unrecognized thus far from both patrons and staff alike.

“Everyone else can have their next round on me.” Jack offered as he took a sip of the drink, making sure to speak just loud enough for those in the room to hear. A curious look was given by the bartender, but he seemed to accept the arrangement. More money down the drain, but he had plenty to spare, at least a few drunken regulars would be made happy for the next hour.

Andres was always one for the night life. He’d been looking forward to going to the tourist traps in Slateport at night. Maybe treat himself to a fancy dinner by the ocean- but not tonight. Tonight, was all dreary and wet. And while it puts a bit of a damper of his little vacation, Andres is more than willing to venture out of his hotel room for the evening. If only so he could find a bedwarmer for the night. At least then, he’d been entertained. It’s pure coincidence he made it into the little dive bar just in time to hear a resounding cheer. OR well, a handful of patrons slamming various mugs and glasses on the counter in excitement while the rest kept to their conversations. [break][break]

He’s intrigued enough to step in at least. It would be a welcome break form the near constant sheets of rain outside. Andres took a moment to shake himself off at the threshold before running a hand through his hair and stepping towards the bar. Without asking, a glass is set for him as the bartender began pouring whatever he’d been serving some of the other patrons during their free round. Quick pleasantries are exchanged, and in no time, the blonde is turning his attention to their very generous patron. He lifted his glass and sort of motioned a small cheers at the darker haired man. “Thank you kindly, sir. What’s the occasion?” he asked, hazel eyes running up and down the stranger before he took a wild guess. “Mmm…finalized your divorce, did you?” he asked not actually recognizing the man.

“Pbbfft!” Jack couldn’t help but sputter into his glass when divorce was mentioned, shaking his head vigorously between coughs. “Sorry, just wasn’t expecting that.” He laughed slightly, the amused look on his face indicating he wasn’t offended by the assumption, just taken off-guard. “I’d have to be married first before getting a divorce.” Commitment wasn’t a strong suit of his, and anyone who called him fickle didn’t know how much of an understatement that was.

“I’m Jack.” A hand extended towards the other man, offering a courteous greeting in the form of a handshake. “Don’t really have much of a reason for the things I do, unfortunately.” He shrugged with a small smirk, lifting the glass to his lips once more. “I guess I’m trying to improve my karma. Plus, I have too much money.”

Andres could barely hide the smirk as he sipped his drink and watched the generous benefactor nearly choke on his own. He grinned at Jack sending back a quick, “So you’re saying there’s a vacancy?” before laughing. Not that Andres would ever consider marriage, money reasons or otherwise. He slept around too much, feared his own commitments too much. No, by far it was better to roam and befriend people that settled down with just one. [break][break]

“Andres. Andres Buenaventura. Nice to meet you, guapo.” He doesn’t hesitate to clap his hand in Jack’s giving him a good handshake before retracting to continue nursing his glass. “Those sound like the words of a guilty man.” He replied with another quick laugh. This time its Andres turn to sputter into his drink. “Pfft! Don’t think I’ve heard of that complaint before. Or are you just bragging?” he asked taking a gulp of his drink this time and letting out

“I have far too many commitment issues for anyone to fill that vacancy.” Jack admitted, sipping on his drink once more. There were a few times he’d tried before but he ended up being too absorbed in his work to have anything more than casual relationships and flings. He didn’t know what the word ‘guapo’ meant but he assumed this to be some sort of compliment by the tone of their voice. “Guilty? Nah. More like I’ve been extremely lucky and want to provide some balance before the universe takes it away from me.”

A gesture was made towards the watch on his wrist. “Ever heard of the Pokétch? I’m the guy who invented those.” The Rotom that possessed the device offered a waving emoji from the screen before disappearing back into the machinery. “Not really meant as a brag, more money more problems as they say.” He chuckled, glancing towards them once more. “How about you? Feel like i’ve been monopolizing the conversation.”

“Hey, I don’t know, won’t hurt me.” He replied, giving the man a quick wink before taking another swig of his drink. While he wasn’t exactly trophy wife material, he also didn’t actually have a need for it. But that wouldn’t keep him from ribbing a total stranger about, especially when they were paying for drinks. “Oooh, the humble type, then?” Andres corrected as he spoke again. [break][break]

It was Andres’ turn to be surprised now as he looked over at the watch and seemed to grin almost nervously. He’s in disbelief and seconds later narrowed his eyes as if he actually knew. “You’re fucking with me, aren’t you? I’m not that drunk yet~” he chided. Then again, he’d bought everyone here a round. On the other hand, anyone could do that with a credit card. If it was true, he wondered what in God’s name had prompted Jack to pick this specific dive bar. “I suppose. I wouldn’t know though.” He lived fairly decently, even without the allowance his father used to give him. But it wasn’t all bad. Tutoring uppercrust kids at the very least put his name out there for eccentric, rich clients to hire him as well. After all, everyone needed a tutor or personal trainer these days. [break][break]

“Me? I’m just a man on vacation.” He explained wit ha dramatic shrug. All dressed up, and for what? “I was headed out to find some nighttime tourist traps, and then got caught in the rain.” The blonde continued, gesturing at the one of the windows. “S’not all bad though. I got pretty lucky. First drink’s on the house after all. Or I guess, you.”
