On most days, Sol is unreadable; her expression a perfect poker face that has been mastered after over two long decades of protecting her vulnerabilities and not wanting to share her emotions with people. Today, lines of concern mark her forehead in a slight frown, eyes like amethysts remaining fixed on the signs being held up by the unhappy Slateport citizens.

His touch, the way his shoulder bumps against hers, distracts her – pulling her away from the memories that flood her mind.

She turns to look at him then, her gaze meeting his.

”Be careful today. I doubt this is gonna end well.”

The voice of a higher rank police officer rings through a megaphone, telling the protestors to break it up and disperse. This is met with anger, of course, and their yells only grow louder and louder.

It makes Sol tense up, turning her attention to another member of her squad.

Any second now, things could take a sudden turn. This much she knows.

The tension in the air is palpable.

where she has her squad, he has his, though the police force are mostly spread out, looking to contain the scene the best they can.[break][break]

it looks fruitless, however.[break][break]

he's likely the first to notice rising tensions off to the side among a few protestors. they shove each other, raising their voices at some sort of misunderstanding or disagreement.[break][break]

Something is thrown.

The sound of glass shattering.

Just like that, it turns to chaos, and a peaceful protest becomes a riot. Soon there’s calls to put a stop to things, urging them to action, and if only for a split second, Sol meets Uri’s gaze, all before turning to give her squad their instructions.

Short. Precise. To the point. And yet… Not the same as usual.

She reaches for a pokéball, releasing her Lycanroc, a STONE EDGE forming a barricade.

uri is by no means riot police. he's a simple beat-cop who just so happens to be among one of slateport pd's finest when it comes to battling. kachow might not listen to him but his other pokemon certainly do.[break][break]

The thing is that just as they have pokémon, the rioters do too, so what good will a few barricades do?

They can slow things down and stop some, but it’s all too easily that that can end up meaning very little. [break][break]
It’s chaos, and with it come memories of moments equally as chaotic…

She reaches for another pokéball, this time calling out her Manectric to face a wave of oncoming pokemon.

A THUNDER WAVE does the job just fine, PARALYZING the pokémon for others to deal with with relative ease.

That's what they need to do: stop this.

growing up watching all those action movies, uri could never understand why riots were so difficult to control. he understands now.[break][break]

the THUNDER WAVE stops a few pokemon from advancing, but their trainers still do. one throws a punch at uri who steps back, avoiding it before snapping up for their wrist, dragging them onto the ground after.[break][break]

with his knee on their back, he restrains them, looking up once again to the others as the situation escalates.

In truth, it could be easy to put an end to all the chaos, but there’s too much stopping them – too many restraints.

Rioters or not, these are still civilians, after all. Citizens of Hoenn who will raise complaints about any truly harmful action.

Sol knows this, and while she leaves Slateport PD to make their arrests, it’s the Lycanroc and Manectric’s threatening growls that keep any rioters from approaching her as she turns her attention towards her squad once again.

It would be better if they managed to break this up and make all the rioters leave this place. But, how?

but they do. they close the distance, quick to try and tackle uri off their friend. he's not quick enough to dodge it this time, but he is more than capable enough to turn it around and to get the upper hand. with him on top, he wrestles with the dude and does his best to restrain him.[break][break]
