On the shores of Dewford Town.. Or just outside of it lay a body. A young man had washed up ashore the night of a terrible rain storm that rolled through Hoenn. He wasn't awake, but at the very least he wasn't dead. For the time being he was alone.. At least, as far as humans went.

At the current moment a lone Absol was dragging his body out of the water that kept washing up on his lower body. She had the shoulder of his shirt clenched between her teeth as she slowly pulled inch by inch until his body was no longer being drenched. A quick paw to the chest caused the man to cough and spit out some water. He rolled onto his side and groaned. His eyes remained closed due to his exhaustion but otherwise he seemed fine. The Absol gave a huff.

They had a brief visitor in the shape of a spherical pokemon. It slowly crawled up onto shore, staring at the young man and the Absol. The Absol made no sudden moves but watched the Spheal closely.

As if it couldn't read the mood, it rolled forward and onto the boy until it was on his chest. Usually having a spontaneous companion cuddle up to you would illicite a reaction (see above), however the young man groaned uncomfortably.

With a quick smack, the Absol kicked the Spheal away causing it to cry in pain and roll back out into the waters and away from the mean ol' Absol.

The top of two fishing poles bob just above the edge of a rocky shoreside ledge as two sweethearts explore the beach. "The shipmaster said we might even catch a Wailmer, hehe..." He grins with anticipation, mid-conversation about the activity they'd planned for today. "Maybe even the pink one I heard about in the Pokémon Center yesterday!" The Emolga on his shoulder cheers in response, just as they emerge from around the bend and onto the sandy shore.

Sarah Dandy and @sigmund aren't exactly what you'd consider 'professional fishermen'. Except for a tackle box the blonde holds, and the fishing rod in each of their hands, they don't exactly look the part either. Regardless, the day they'd planned to possibly improve their fishing skill takes a sudden turn when the pair come across an Absol and a young man (@sotsona ) washed up ashore.

Sigmund's eyes widen in surprise as he stops in his tracks, holding out his arm (and the hand holding their tacklebox) to protectively bar Sarah from moving forward herself. Ratatoskr the Emolga, in the meantime, immediately assumes the worst of the Absol and growls, sparks flying from his cheeks like miniature fireworks.

"H-Hey... guy? Can you hear me? Are you okay?"

Fishing rods and pokemon at their sides, Sigmund and Sarah were making their way through the beach. Sarah wasn't really much one for fishing herself, but with the promise of new wild pokemon she couldn't pass it up. An intimidating pokemon like Gyarados was what she was after, although she was also interested in other water pokemon like Starmie, which had the ability to change its type at will. Abilities like that would be helpful for her research. [break][break]

At her side was her trusty partner, Maizey, who was getting more leg time due to her size. Not to mention, Sarah was always interested in seeing how Maizey would get along with Ratatoskr. And sometimes they seemed to battle together like a Plus and Minus. [break][break]

Sarah's eyes trailed downward as she saw Sigmund's hand extend in front of her. She did stop in her tracks. Especially when she saw the apparent condition of the guy on the ground.[break][break]

"Is he... dying?" she had to ask. "They say Absol are bad luck. Maybe he had a heart attack after hearing it's song?"

Halona - the Absol - took a quick look over to her side when she suddenly heard and then saw two humans approaching.

At first she was apprehensive. For the most part Absol's were estranged from humans since they were seen as threats to society. However, seeing an Emolga and a Pikachu hanging around them made her lower her guard a notch or two.

She listened to their words and then looked at her trainer. He was groaning softly but ultimately he was still only semi-conscious. She gave his back a quick, light "kick" with her paw and he coughed up a little more water. His breathing returned to normal for someone who had just drowned.

"Ugh.. What happened.."
[break][break]
Sotsona began to slowly roll onto his back and his eyes came open. In the meantime, Halona placed herself between her trainer and the four strangers, eye-ing them quietly.

"I.. I'm supposed to be on a ship.. Where am I now..?"
[break][break]
He paused, looking up at a boy and a girl who had been standing there and talking to him without him even acknowledging it at first.

"Who are you two..?"

Sigmund often claimed he wasn’t the superstitious sort. His mother and father were both very practical, intelligent, level-headed adults, after all. He liked to think that they had raised him to be the same— like Sarah was! Boy, would they love her…

In truth, however, the blonde willingly chose to entertain the ideas of superstitions, conspiracy theories, and creepypastas. The world just seemed so much more exciting with them! Though, in this case, quite dangerous.

“They say Absol are bad luck. Maybe he had a heart attack after hearing its song?”

”Is that right? Well, I dare it to try and encore!” He states out loud, shifting into a traditional trainer battle pose as Ratatoskr and him glare at the Absol.

The Absol might think twice about dropping her guard with the Emolga’s crackling cheeks aglow and ready to go. She does well to rouse her trainer awake, however, and seeing the stranger wake up and mutter human speech serves to ease the tension emanating from the two for now.

”H-Hey! Are you alright? Did this Absol lull you with its song to eat your heart out afterwards?” He asks, pointing towards the Pokémon in question. Wait, no, that was werewolf lore, right? He was getting his monsters mixed up.

She gestured toward her partner and then returned her attention to Setsuna and the Absol that was here with him as well. She then turned back toward Sigmund skeptically. [break][break]

"That's not something that Absol do. They can use Perish Song though."[break][break]
