He was nervous and he was tense. He'd been practicing almost every day now with Yukina in preparation for their contest. With encouragement from his new, younger friend August Gallagher he'd signed up with the young coordinator for a rookie debut. It seemed like fun, and his Frolass had all but beat him into submission to take the chance at participating. He couldn't deny her, especially when this was the most spirit she'd ever shown since they'd partnered up. However, August, as it turned out had family. Family he had yet to really meet other than a few words exchanged when the young boy was picked up form the contest hall. [break][break]

Lana hadn't spoken too much with Felix Gallagher , scared stiff by the taller man's piercing eyes. He thought he'd gotten used to making eye contact but perhaps...perhaps that was just him adjusting to looking at victor evans in the eye every day. He sat in silence, staring at the bamboo fence that separated his bath form the girl's side. The knock of the bamboo water fountain and the faint splashing of water the only other thing braking the silence. He hadn't been back to the baths since his meeting with Victor. He'd been just as nervous then as he was now. Why did they keep picking the bathhouse? It had to be a power thing right? Lana sank further into the water, covering up flushed skin with warm water and praying for good luck. He dind't want to start this year off on the wrong foot with his frined's older brother.

The hot springs wasn't his first idea. Or second. Or Third. In fact, thinking back on it, it was probably the least desirable location to go at any point of the year. The place was hot, sweaty, and full of naked old people. But, for whatever reason, he had found himself in the damned dressing room, taking off his clothes in front of said old people.

Once he finished undressing, Felix folded up his clothes and stored them away in one of the available lockers before heading towards the springs themselves.

A silence hung over him as he dipped himself into the boiling water, not allowing his dull eyes to meet another's or let conversation blossom between him and anyone else. He held no interest in discussing the multiple scars around his chest and back, or deal with the typical handsy man who feels it appropriate to grope his biceps. All he held interest in was submerging himself deeper into the water until only his nose and eyes were kept dry.

Lana flinched as Felix walked in, sitting up straight in the water expectantly. When the man didn’t say anything, he still didn’t relax. His eyes went to Felix’s chest and his arms, eyes darting as he found scar after scar. He felt afraid, intimidated. What did August’s brother even DO?! So he kept quiet, trembling a little as the older man submerged himself into the water. Garbage Baby panted lightly, waiting for Felix’s head to bob up before paddling over to the man and letting out a bark in greeting. Lana took that as his cue to speak up as well. [break][break]

“H-Hello!” he greeted, tentatively moving closer to the merc. “T-T-This i-is G-Garbage B-B-Baby!” he said and the Linoone let out another bark before rudely moving in to give Felix a good face lick. “I-I um….N-N-Nice t-to m-m-meet y-you, F-Felix.”

After a few heat-filled seconds lulled by, Felix lifted his head from out the water and slicked back his damp hair, freeing his eyes from any dangling strains. As he did this, an exuberant linoone came barking over from the other side of the springs and offered a friendly lick. Its appearance was followed by a soft greeting from what appeared to be the pokemon's trainer.

"...?" Confused eyes stared back at the frail man, as the inner cogs of the general's brain worked on overdrive to remember 1.) how this man knew his name 2.) if he was supposed to know him from somewhere. Eventually, he settled with the easiest option he could muster: play along with the act and maybe he'll go away.

There’s a long pause, the heat of the hot spring possible dulling his companion’s senses. He waited what seemed like forever before Felix finally replied. It’s…not what he expected. Very sloth like. He still managed to squeak, “Hi!” before falling silent and dipping back down into the water, bright red eyes darting from Felix to his partner who was busy trying to lap up Felix’s attention. [break][break]

He waited quietly before attempting to guide the conversation once more. “A-August t-talks about y-y-you a-a lot. He-He’s excited f-for…uh…f-for y-you t-t’see him p-perform.” He said, finally looking back at Felix. “Do….d-do you…c-come to t-the h-hot springs o-o-often?” Garbage Baby barked, announcing his charge and subsequent belly flop into the hot spring, splashing both his trainer and Felix before the young man could protest.

The sudden mention of his little brother's name caused Felix's interest to pique, as well as his intensity. How did this man know of his brother, he wondered, and should he be concerned about it? The option of playing along lost all its merit as Felix immediately sprung into action.

"How do you know August?"

His voice was sharp, firm even. Like a whip cracking in the air. The splashing of hot water onto their faces only amplified his intensity.
