it's an adorable sight — the lights, the festival, her. he's practically head over heels by the time she turns to look at him, catching him mid-gaze.

"hm?" he blinks. "oh, sorry. you're really distracting."

in the best of ways, of course, and he lets her know by leaning in to kiss her. their skitty ears almost touch.

"let's...go get some food real quick before going on the rides?"

pink blossoms across her cheeks as he leans in to kiss her. and when they pull away, skitty ears slightly pushed back, she’s beaming.

”and you’re cute.” her hand reaches for his a moment later.

food… the entire carnival smells incredible and she knows her stomach is already growling. a nod follows his suggestion before she tucks herself closer to his side.

”sounds good to me,” she murmurs. ”think they have fried oreos?”

he blinks, barely able to contain his chuckle from escaping. with his lips curled into a grin, he asks:

"is that a real thing?"

and without a second thought, she's tugging him along toward the stalls to hunt down fried oreos. the skitty ears wobble with her movement.

but that's his athlete-side speaking, too worried about what fried oreos would do to his body. it's not like it matters anymore — his running days are long behind him.

soon, they have a bag of fried oreos, and cian's reaching inside for one before lifting it to her lips.

"you first, so i know this won't kill me."

an eyebrow rises when he goes for the first one. and when it rises to her lips instead of his, she's letting out an amused laugh.

"so it can kill me instead?"

she doesn't turn down the offer, though. fried oreos are her favorite and she's happily leaning in to bite the carnival food without bothering to wait.

cue the moan about good food before she's reaching into the bag he holds for another.

"i love these things."

but the joke should be clear by how he grins, chuckling as he watches her take a bite. much to his surprise, she actually enjoys it.

"really..."

still cautious but curious enough, cian takes a bite as well.

"holy shit."

she laughs around another bite of fried oreo goodness, amusement settling into her features.

"told you," she sings. and without waiting, she's snagging her third fried oreo from the bag. powdered sugar is swiped away from her lips with a happy hum and her tongue.

"good, right?"

if he isn't careful, she'll eat the whole bag on him too.

cian quickly finishes one then reaches for another, quick to throw it into his mouth again before chewing.

he shrugs.

"it's alright."

hehe! he loves teasing her, but they obviously know this.

briefly, his gaze flicks up to the massive ferris wheel not too far away from them. he gestures at it as he bites down on his third.

"not afraid of heights, are you?"

she sneaks another fried oreo out of the bag while he isn't looking.

and when he gestures toward the ferris wheel, she's mid chew. her head turns to stare at it and as she chews, she hums soft approval.

"dunno," she offers after swallowing the last of the oreo. "don't think i've ever been up that high." scaling buildings for a living doesn't count toward that, right?

the long line prompts her to gravitate toward the attraction. a curiosity for the experience adds to her following question.

"can we go on it?"

with a smile, he tugs her towards the line, and after waiting for a good twenty minutes, they finally get on into their own private cabin.

there's no sunset or anything but at least there'll be fireworks. cian made sure of that during his quick pee break while waiting in line. but it'll be a while before then; it's a slow journey to the top.

"are you enjoying yourself so far, gigi?"

she's quick to press up against the window with a giggle. the ride hasn't fully moved yet but she just knows it's gonna be a pretty sight.

his question draws her away from people watching. and when her head turns, she's flashing a bright smile.

"absolutely," she chirps. "i love carnivals." well, now she does after experiencing it for once.

a small silence follows before she's asking the question of him.

"are you?" a pause, a slight flush. "having fun, i mean."

it's what he wants to hear — that she's having fun and enjoying herself. maybe it's because of the carnival or maybe it's because of him. either way, it makes him happy to hear.

her question is met with a nod.

"i always have fun when i'm with you, gigi."

he smiles.

"never a dull moment."
