Memo was entirely unprepared for Alexei to actually care about his well-being. In fact, he’d gone so long without anyone giving an apparent shit for him that he just blinked at the taller man.

“Yeah, well,” he said, feeling sheepish, face flushing, “I didn’t. So it’s okay.”

It was petulant and abashed and adorable. Memo wanted to hug him.

Happy to change the subject, Memo tugged at his collar and said, “I think it’s a Shaymin.” He felt pretty confident in his assessment. “Maria Dolores had a picture book with them in it. The Shaymin story was her favorite.” It was a book about learning to deal with feelings, and in it, a Shaymin was guiding the reader.

Memo felt the heat in his cheeks and thought that was apt metaphor.

Alexei’s question made him laugh out loud, like all the tension in his body was leaving. “No, mate,” he said, wiping a tear from the corner of his eye, “not the foggiest.”

They stood together and watched their Pokemon tear at the earth, doing the things they were born to with an instinct stronger than anything mere humans could understand. It was peaceful and idyllic, and briefly, Memo wondered if Alexei may want to hold his hand--

--until his Shaymin did an abrupt about-face and growled, flower on its back unfurling like a warbanner. Memo yelped and ducked-- not that he had far to go-- pulling Alexei down with him as the flare shockwave went over their heads. “Jeez!”

Corazón was quick to leap to the offensive, snatching the Shaymin up in her jaws like terriers had been born and bred to do since the dawn of time; shaking the hedgehog side to side as though it were a squeaky toy she was playing rough with, she let the creature go flying into the air, safely above the fields of flowers, clear to a green patch on the other side of the bed of blooms.

“I guess we’re fighting now?” Memo said in the tone of someone who honestly couldn’t be more surprised if suddenly the sun went out, let alone fighting a mythical Pokemon on an island of flowers in the sky.

“Still! What in the absolute fuck, Memo?!” he exclaimed, waving his hands around them. “You gotta have some kind of sense of self-preservation, or at the very least care when someone’s looking out for you…”

He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as he looked over where the Dwebble was digging into the ground alongside the cute ~~widdle~~ Sandshrew he’d held earlier.

But then again, most of the so-called ‘legendaries’ and ‘mythical’ Pokémon he was familiar with were all from his home region… well, except the face hugger. (Cough.)

“One of your siblings?” he confirmed, looking over at the sudden—wait, why were there more than one of them now? And what was going—

“WHOA!” he shouted, his center of gravity suddenly changing as the other pulled him down and tried to save him from danger.

Up above, a loud shrieking noise saw what had happened and came sweeping down, blue-plumed wings spreading out and tanking the attack all by himself.

“Kyouya, don’t wreck the flowers!” he shouted as the Braviary shrieked from somewhere above them, chasing down the other Shaymin that had attacked them—because who knew that there were two that were out to get their fucking heads?!

Another loud shriek ripped from the avian’s throat, before approaching and grabbing the other Shaymin in his claws and suddenly flying as fast and as high as he could go.

“Uh oh,” was all Alexei could say, because he already knew what was coming next…

Apparently, Alexei was not satisfied with Memo’s answer, judging by the way the blonde continued to lecture him after the fact. Unfortunately, Memo didn’t really have good recourse, given that all hedgehog hell had broken loose, as a second Shaymin was targeted from a fierce yet pin-accurate attack from Alexei’s Braviary.

Still, it didn’t seem enough, as Memo’s adversary aimed another seed flare to launch up and over the flourishing flower bed and straight towards the human interlopers. Memo did his best to stand in between the attacking Shaymin and Alexei, but Zuza did him one better, and counterted the seed flare with a dazzling gleam of her own. The two attacks collided in the sky and filled the air with an explosion of green, silver, and lavender sparkles, raining down gently on the flowers like a soft, early morning snow.

Memo turned to Alexei and asked, “You okay?”, but Zuza wasn’t done yet. Her eyes began to glow a fuschia pink as a concentrated psychic attack lifted the offending Shaymin off the ground. The little hedgehog flipped feetsies over nose in the air; Zuza gave it a fierce shake, like preparing to make a cola can explode, before dropping the dizzied creature unceremoniously back to earth.

The other Shaymin was definitely not in for a good time, all things considered, because the hedgehog was dropped from a considerable height, screaming profanities all the way down.

Before it could hit the ground, though, another attack came bursting from this Shaymin, and the Braviary literally flew head-on into the second attack, tanking it like a champion before shrieking and picking up the smaller Pokémon in his large claws before it hit the ground in an unceremonious crashing heap.

Of course, he remembered what Alexei had shouted earlier not to hit the flowers, so…

“I don’t know!” he exclaimed, as he looked over to where Zuza had now decided to take things into her own hands, making the other Shaymin shake like a can ready to burst.

“…why are our companions so violent,” he chuckled as the Braviary came back down, close to where the candy-coated Rapidash was trying not to send the other Shaymin flying.

The Braviary could only let out a squawk in answer, awaiting further orders.

GRACIDEA QUEST

GRATITUDE AMONG FLOWERS

DESPITE THE FEROCITY OF YOUR BATTLE, the Gracidea remain intact. The flowers swing gently in the aftermath's breeze like waving spectators. Before you, the two Shaymin brush off the debris of your contest with little shakes. Their own flowers remain vibrant and open— symbolic of their acceptance of the bonds shared between you and your Pokemon.

Behind you, the floral bridge begins to reform in the air. It spirals toward the earth like a spring wedding's garland, carrying with it the scent of fresh blooms. The petals seemingly face you, beckoning for you to return.

Similarly, the Shaymin await their capsules. Whether you decide to capture them here or on the ground is your choice.

THE LAND FORME SHAYMIN are now able to be caught with one of your pokeballs. you may decide their moveset like a gachapon pokemon (e.g. 6 learnset moves) and add them to your PCs.

These Shaymin can not shift into its Sky Forme yet.

There’s a sudden silence that descends upon the flowing fields of flowers. The poor Shaymin that Corazon launched like a squeaky toy gingerly picks its way back to Memo, shuffling the Gracidea blooms as it goes. Realizing the battle is over, Memo stoops and picks up the poor thing, holding it close to his chest; the little hedgehog snuffles its snout in between Memo’s fingers, and settles in for a rest.

Standing, and in complete awe, Memo turns back to Alexei; he’s at a loss for words, which never happens. He wants to stay and process what has just happened but Corazon barks out a warning-- and behind Alexei, at the far end of their little island in the sky, the ground began to disappear.

Corazon grabbed the edge of Memo’s jacket and began to drag him towards the reformed flower bridge, growling lightly with each tug. “Okay, okay, ya voy, ya voy,” but he dug in his heels and looked back to Alexei, not wanting to leave without him, and his Shaymin, in tow.

“You—you might wanna put the Pokémon down now, Kyouya,” he remarked in the Braviary’s direction, giving the blue-plumed avian the worst side-eye he could muster.

“And put the Pokémon down gently!” he added afterward, as the Braviary had half a mind to yeet the Shaymin towards Alexei.

Once the hedgehog—cupine—whatever it really was, Alexei’s mind defaulted to ‘cupine’ for some strange, bizarre reason—had been placed gently on the ground, he quickly scooped it up, before tsking in the avian’s direction.

“No need to be so hostile,” he added with a chuckle—before the Stoutland began dragging Memo back down… back to where they’d come from.

“Alright, alright, I’m getting on,” he added as he recalled all his other Pokémon before getting on the Braviary’s back and taking off, flying downwards and back to the ground where they’d originally come from.

“And I swear, this is not a fucking hallucination, I mean how do you explain us carrying these he—cupines?!” he called out in Memo’s direction.
