It had been some time since Fortree was in an uproar—the last time it had been like this was when there were rumored Rocket members parading around in broad daylight. Haunting the socialites of the city.[break][break]

…not that he cared too much about the goings-on in the upper crust of society, but still, they were his ‘people’ and he had to investigate the claims.[break][break]

Mercifully, there was nothing too bad that came out of the rumors…[break][break]

…at least, that was how it ended.[break][break]

Now there was something else, brought along by some of the more watchful people hanging around the city. A completely strange individual had come around and settled in one of the vacant houses in the city, and boy that was a surefire way to attract attention.[break][break]

“Are you serious?” he said, looking at the display screen of his PokéGear, wondering just who this person was. Well, he had the address (thanks to aforementioned watchful people who lived in the area) and he was going to case out the joint.[break][break]

Even if he did it in plain sight of…whoever this was.[break][break]

Looking up from the screen, his brow furrowed—he hadn’t been to this part of the city yet.[break][break]

Now, only hours after waking, his small home was void of coffee and he was silently simmering with irritation. The only Pokemon Sascha took with him to the small market down the street was Hera. She nestled happily into his shadow, remaining entirely unseen.[break][break]

The slow crawl through the store was even more irritating. Learning new places was... less than ideal and Sascha was just glad the man at the counter said little to him by way of greeting. With his tin of coffee scanned and paid for, Sascha tucked it under his arm and slipped from the market, navigating the paths that he had made some effort to remember.[break][break]

His home was not far and he avoided most people in the process. He even ignored the annoyingly attractive white-haired male that seemed to be lingering close to his home, seemingly looking for something. [break][break]

Sascha noted the expression and the way the man held himself, keeping the details at the front of his mind. His mind may have been hazy, but he wasn't going to pass up a chance to catalog people who might be trouble to his operation. Saying absolutely nothing, he navigated to his front door and slipped the key into the lock.[break][break]

Hera cackled as she rose from Sascha's shadow, looking straight in the direction of Alexei. Sascha's own gaze followed, his expression calculating as he sized up his possible opponent. Nemesis. Enemy. Whoever he was, there would be issues if he didn't back down.

Wait, that’s not how you do a stakeout… he thought to himself, accidentally having been spotted by the one he was tailing—and just at the point the strange one was about to enter the house, he thought he saw something rise up and out of the shadow![break][break]

Catching sight of a pair of what he thought were gemstones for eyes, he discreetly raised his left arm and pointed his PokéGear at it, hoping that the little database he had with him would give him something about this little cackling shitface that was leering at his direction.[break][break]

Not nice, he continued to himself, more a little miffed at the Pokémon than he was at the… the stranger that had just dropped by without warning and hadn’t even made an effort to introduce himself to the community! Well, he was here to change that. At least, he hoped he would.[break][break]

“You know,” he began calmly, raising his voice enough so that the other would hear him, “…you’ve set off quite an alarm among the people living in this part of the city,” before looking at him.[break][break]

No weapons, no nada, no nothing… well, he did have Vincent and Carina among his companions at the moment, and Carina as it was, was a pretty terrible Pokémon to get angry considering her minuscule size…

Get a feel for the people and weed out any suspicious ones that he felt needed to be watched. But this man was going to make it difficult, it seemed. [break][break]

His sableye seemed to melt back into his shadow as he pulled the key out of the lock, having left the door locked so he could turn to Alexei without fear that someone might sneak behind him. [break][break]

"Maybe they should mind their own business, then. I'm just trying to live," Sascha said bluntly. "On my own," Sascha added, almost awkwardly. He glanced to the window, noting the way the curtains had shifted slightly so that Artemis could look out. "Have a good day," he dismissed, Alexei, turning back toward his front door once more.

He didn't exactly pay attention, gritting his teeth to himself in order to refrain from biting his tongue. But it was the accusation of him being a member of Team Rocket that had him once more pulling from the door. This time, he headed right for Alexei, his jaw taut.[break][break]

"You have a big mouth, you know that? What message are you sending if you just publically ask a question like that?" his voice was low as he got right up in Alexei's face. He was half tempted to snack him with the coffee can... if only to amuse himself. [break][break]

His temper had not been the same since Kanto. It triggered easier, especially with people who were hindering his investigation. "Hera, scout around," he commanded. The cackling resumed and his sableye jumped from his shadow and disappeared into the trees. There were a few moments of silence before the Pokemon returned, noting that there was no one in earshot.[break][break]

Sascha spoke low once more, reaching into his breast pocket of his jacket. Flashing the interpol badge and identification, he barred his teeth at Alexei, "What is your name?" Sascha countered, grey gaze locked to Alexei's face as he shoved his badge into his jacket once more.

Rubbing at the back of his neck, he glanced back to see Artemis sticking her whole face in the window. Sascha lifted an eyebrow at the Decidueye, giving a slight shake of his head. Now was not the time. He could vaguely see Apollo trying to shove into the window, the gastly eager for his return.[break][break]

"It was not my intention to make people nervous," Sascha admitted outloud. "I simply wanted to settle in first and catch up on some lingering paperwork."

He wasn't here to make friends.[break][break]

But that was what his instincts told him to do. Sascha couldn't find himself in a city full of enemies. He needed all of the friends he could get. Despite his reservations, he knew the moment that he glanced at Alexei's own identification that this was someone he should have in his pocket.[break][break]

Lifting an eyebrow, Sascha lifted his gaze slowly, "May I invite you in for coffee and a slight bit more privacy, gym leader?" he questioned, motioning back toward his house.

He remembered when he had been young and had wanted to be something big like a gym leader. Now, he felt like he had gotten the better end of the stick. [break][break]

"I think I can find some tea... somewhere. There was a can left by the old tenants," he noted, moving to unlock the door. He allowed Alexei in first. [break][break]

The home was large, though he wasn't using much space. There was a small table and chair with a laptop and other paperwork set up. The kitchen drying rack had clean dishes in it. There was no couch or loveseat, television, or anything like that. Just a small bookcase.[break][break]

Artemis was still sitting by the window, and Apollo floated right up to Sascha, expression gleeful. "I havent had a moment to find... furniture."

His eyebrows went up slightly more at the mention of that, but decided not to draw any more attention to it than he already had.[break][break]

Instead, he followed Sascha inside and blinked, wondering if he was just seeing things or were there still dust motes spinning in the air?[break][break]

That's pretty Spartan in terms of decoration, he noted to himself, seeing that a bare minimum of space was being used. In comparison, though, his apartment was fully decorated and extremely cozy…but at the same time it was quite lonely, too.[break][break]

“You don’t know how long the tea’s been there. I'm pretty sure this place came with more furniture previously…” he hummed, standing near the bookcase and looking at the titles available.[break][break]

It was at this point he caught sight of the ~~not-bird~~ Decidueye, still parked by the window, before seeing the literal blob of gas of a Gastly pop up and just hover next to the shorter man.[break][break]

“You have interesting taste in Pokémon,” he hummed again, resisting the urge to send out either his Riolu or Cutiefly…for some reason they didn't do well with Ghost-types.

Getting a used couch? He had almost literally tossed it out of the trees he had been so disgusted. [break][break]

Even now, the dust that was clinging to his home was making him squirm a bit. When Alexei made a comment about the tea, he started searching through his fridge. "I have... milk, orange juice, and vodka," he added the last part for humor. [break][break]

Apollo was following him around, making gleeful noises and trying to chat with Sascha. He turned to face his Pokemon, "Apollo," he mused affectionately. "Go play with Hera," he hummed. The sableye dashed from his shadow. [break][break]

Artemis approached Alexei, looking him up and down warily before following after the other two. "I have a penchant for the strange."
